Long-term results of Ahmed glaucoma valve implantation in Egyptian population

AIM： To evaluate the long-term results and complications of Ahmed glaucoma valve （AGV） implantation in a cohort of Egyptian patients. METHODS： A retrospective study of 124 eyes of 99 patients with refractory glaucoma who underwent AGV implantation and had a minimum follow-up of 5y was performed. All patients underwent complete ophthalmic examination and intraocular pressure （lOP） measurement before surgery and at ld, weekly for the 1st month, 3, 6mo, and ly after surgery and yearly afterward for 5y. lOP was measured by Goldmann applanation tonometry and/or Tono-Pen. Complications and the number of anti-glaucoma medications needed were recorded. Success was defined as lOP less than 21 mm Hg with or without anti-glaucoma medication and without additional glaucoma surgery. RESULTS： Mean age was 23.1±19.9y. All eyes had at least one prior glaucoma surgery, lOP was reduced from a mean of 37.2±6.8 to 19.2±5.2 mm Hg after 5y follow-up with a reduced number of medications from 2.64±0.59 to 1.81±0.4. Complete and qualified success rates were 31.5% and 46.0% respectively at the end of follow-up. The most common complications were encapsulated cyst formation in 51 eyes （41.1%）, complicated cataract in 9 eyes （7.25%）, recessed tube in 8 eyes （6.45%）, tube exposure in 6 eyes （4.8%） and corneal touch in 6 eyes （4.8%）. Other complications included extruded AGV, endophthalmitis and persistent hypotony. Each of them was recorded in only 2 eyes （1.6%）. ~ CONCLUSION： Although refractory glaucoma is a difficult problem to manage, AGV is effective and relatively safe procedure in treating refractory glaucoma in Egyptian patients with long-term follow-up. Encapsulated cyst formation was the most common complication, which limits successful lOP control after AGV implantation. However, effective complications management can improve the rate of success.

This article examines the main variables that influence the intention to use Augmented Reality(AR)applications in the tourism sector in *** study model has been constructed based on the unified theory of acceptance and the use of technology2(UTAUT2),by incorporating a new construct(aesthetics)to explore the usage intention of Mobile Augmented Reality in Tourism(MART).A questionnaire was used and distributed to a sample of 450 *** were analyzed using the Smart PLS version *** testing 12 hypotheses.29 measurement items were carefully reviewed based on previous studies that were selected to assess the research *** findings revealed that the proposed model elucidates 35.7%of the variance in the users’intention to use *** results also showed that both performance expectancy and aesthetics were found to be the most significant factors at level(0.001).Four variables,respectively,were at level(0.01)which consisted of social influence,facilitating conditions,hedonic motivation,and price *** weakest effect was effort expectancy at level(0.05).As the use of AR has become important for tourists,this study establishes a research base that can be built upon for future *** developers can benefit from the results of this research to design and deliver this service successfully and to ensure that its adoption by users is achieved.

The advent of the COVID-19 pandemic has adversely affected the entire world and has put forth high demand for techniques that remotely manage crowd-related *** surveillance and crowd management using video analysis techniques have significantly impacted today’s research,and numerous applications have been developed in this *** research proposed an anomaly detection technique applied to Umrah videos in Kaaba during the COVID-19 pandemic through sparse crowd *** theKaaba rituals is crucial since the crowd gathers from around the world and requires proper analysis during these days of the *** Umrah videos are analyzed,and a system is devised that can track and monitor the crowd flow in *** crowd in these videos is sparse due to the pandemic,and we have developed a technique to track the maximum crowd flow and detect any object(person)moving in the direction unlikely of the major *** have detected abnormal movement by creating the histograms for the vertical and horizontal flows and applying thresholds to identify the non-majority *** algorithm aims to analyze the crowd through video surveillance and timely detect any abnormal activity tomaintain a smooth crowd flowinKaaba during the pandemic.

Two-stage procedure in the management of selected cases of keratoconus: clear lens extraction with aspherical IOL implantation followed by WFG-PRK

AIM： To assess the objective and subjective results of a two-stage procedure for management of keratoconus： clear lensectomy with aspherical intraocular lens（IOL） implantation followed by wave front-guided photorefractive keratotomy（WFG-PRK）.METHODS： This prospective interventional non-randomized study included patients aged 35 years old or more with grade I and II stable keratoconus, a clear visual axis, minimal corneal thickness（MCT） 420 μm or more and average keratometric reading（K） less than 54 diopter（D）. Refraction of all selected eyes should be-8.00 D sphere or more with less than-6.00 D cylinder and could be corrected two lines or more with spectacles or contact lenses. All studied eyes underwent a two-stage approach treatment： first refractive lens exchange and aspherical IOL implantation followed, after at least 3 mo, by WFGPRK. Pre and postoperative complete ophthalmological examination were performed. Topographical, visual and aberrometric results were recorded and evaluated during 6 mo follow up period. Moreover, patient satisfaction and other subjective outcomes were also ***： The 13 eyes of 11 patients diagnosed with stable keratoconus and aged from 39 to 49 y（42.4±6.2 y） were enrolled in the study. At baseline, 8 eyes had grade I and 5 eyes had grade II keratoconus. The manifest sphere was-10.3±4.2 D（ranged from-8.0 to-14.0 D） and the manifest cylinder was-4.2±1.2 D（ranged from-1.75 to-5.50 D）. After the two-stage procedure, sphere and cylinder reduced significantly to-0.43±0.22 D and-1.3±0.72 D respectively（P〈0.001）. There was also a highly significant improvement in the mean uncorrected distance visual acuity（UDVA） from logMAR 1.41±0.49 preoperatively to 0.51±0.16 postoperatively（P〈0.001） and the mean corrected distance visual acuity（CDVA） from 0.76±0.24 preoperatively to 0.49±0.13 after the operation（P〈0.001）. BACKGROUND Irritable bowel syndrome(IBS) is a common functional gastrointestinal disorder. Dysregulation of the gut–brain axis plays a central role in the pathophysiology of IBS. It is increasingly clear that the microbiome plays a key role in the development and normal functioning of the gut–brain *** To facilitate the identification of specific areas of focus that may be of relevance to future research. This study represents a bibliometric analysis of the literature pertaining to the microbiome in IBS to understand the development of this *** The data used in our bibliometric analysis were retrieved from the Scopus database. The terms related to IBS and microbiome were searched in titles or abstracts within the period of 2000–2019. VOSviewer software was used for data *** A total of 13055 documents related to IBS were retrieved at the global level. There were 1872 scientific publications focused on the microbiome in IBS. There was a strong positive correlation between publication productivity related to IBS in all fields and productivity related to the microbiome in IBS(r = 0.951, P < 0.001). The United States was the most prolific country with 449(24%) publications, followed by the United Kingdom(n = 176, 9.4%), China(n = 154, 8.2%), and Italy(n = 151, 8.1%). The h-index for all retrieved publications related to the microbiome in IBS was 138. The hot topics were stratified into four clusters:(1) The gut–brain axis related to IBS;(2) Clinical trials related to IBS and the microbiome;(3) Drugmediated manipulation of the gut microbiome;and(4) The role of the altered composition of intestinal microbiota in IBS *** This is the first study to evaluate and quantify global research productivity pertaining to the microbiome in IBS. Evaluation of oxidant-antioxidant status in overweight and morbidly obese Saudi children

AIM: To evaluate the antioxidant enzymes and oxidative products in overweight and obese Saudi children before the onset of metabolic ***: The study was carried out on 231 Saudi children. They were classified into three groups: uncomplicated overweight, uncomplicated morbid obesity, and the matched age group as control. All subjects underwent anthropometric measurements and activities of superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px), glutathione reductase, the concentrations of reduced GSH, malondialdehyde(MDA) oxidized lowdensity lipoprotein(ox-LDL) and advanced oxidation protein products(AOPPs) were measured in the blood of these ***: Overweight and obese children had a significantly higher body mass index, while obese children only had a significantly higher waist-to-hip ratio compared to that of the control group. The enzyme activities under study were significantly elevated in the overweight group, although they were significantly reduced among obese children. The concentration of GSH was reduced in both the overweight and obese groups. The mean values of ox-LDL, MDA and AOPP were non-significantly increased in overweight children, while theywere significantly elevated in obese children compared to that of normal weight children. A significant disturbance of oxidant-antioxidant status was observed in severely morbid ***: The increase of oxidative stress in obese children is associated with the increase in AOPPs and MDA which reflects an imbalance between reactive oxygen species production and antioxidant defense.

Daftardar-Jafari Method for Fractional Heat-Like and Wave-Like Equations with Variable Coefficients

In this paper, Daftardar-Gejji and Jafari method is applied to solve fractional heat-like and wave-like models with variable coefficients. The method is proved for a variety of problems in one, two and three dimensional spaces where analytical approximate solutions are obtained. The examples are presented to show the efficiency and simplicity of this method.

Low salinity water-Surfactant-CO_(2) EOR

Coreflood,interfacial tension(IFT),contact angle,and phase behavior measurements were performed to investigate the viability of a hybrid of low-salinity water,surfactant,and CO_(2) flood enhanced oil recovery(EOR)***-permeability carbonate reservoir cores were aged for eight weeks at reservoir temperature and *** and contact angle between oil droplets and core surface measurements were *** contact angle measurements on sandstone and shale cores were also *** coreflood sequences were seawater flood,followed by low-salinity water flood,followed by surfactant floods until residual oil saturations to each flooding sequences and finally CO_(2) *** in low-permeability carbonate cores show that the hybrid EOR process produces incremental oil up to twenty-five percent beyond seawater *** angle measurements on carbonate,sandstone and shale cores indicate that wettability alteration and IFT decrease are the main oil-mobilizing mechanisms in the hybrid EOR *** hybrid EOR process mobilizes part of the residual oil because:(i)low-salinity brine improves wettability towards hydrophilic condition favorable for surfactant flooding;(ii)surfactant in lowsalinity water solubilizes some of the remaining oil as Winsor type IImicroemulsion and lowers IFT between oil and water;and(iii)CO_(2) will follow surfactant to mobilize more of the remaining oil in the wettability-improved condition.
