Microstructural evolution,dislocation density and tensile properties of Al–6.5Si–2.1Cu–0.35Mg alloy produced by different casting processes

Al–Si–Cu–Mg foundry alloys are used in casting process ***,their strength properties remain low due to their microstructural characteristics and *** this work,the microstructural characteristics,dislocation densities,and mechanical properties of Al–Si–Cu–Mg cast alloys prepared through different casting methods were studied *** casting processes,namely,gravity casting(GC),rheocasting(RC),thixoforming(Thixo),and Thixo with heat treatment,were *** GC and RC samples had mainly dendriticα-Al phase microstructures and exhibited coarse Si particles and intermetallic compounds in their interdendritic *** contrast,the Thixo and heat-treated Thixo(hT-Thixo)samples exhibited microstructural refinement with uniformly distributedα-Al globules,fine fibrous Si particles,and fragmented intermetallic compounds amongα-Al *** accumulation of dislocation densities increased in the Thixo sample as the strain was increased due to plastic ***,the ultimate tensile strength and yield strength of the hT-Thixo sample increased by 87%and 63%,respectively,relative to those of the GC *** cleavage fracture displayed by the GC and RC samples led to brittle ***,the Thixo and hT-Thixo samples presented dimple-based ductile fracture.

The purpose of this article is to report that some anti-A1 that react at 37°C are IgG antibodies and are clinically significant, as they can cause the destruction of a proportion of A1 cells in vivo following the transfusion of red blood cells. Therefore, when a serum of an individual contains anti-A1, further testing of the plasma against group A1, A2, and O by referencing red blood cells and individual cells against anti-A1 lectin (Dolichos biflorus lectin) must be performed. Confirming the specificity of anti-A1 by referencing red blood cells is also important in selecting the appropriate blood for transfusion. ABO antibodies are naturally occurring and activate the complement cascade, making them more likely to cause severe transfusion reactions compared to antibodies to other RBC antigens.

AIM:To study the hemodynamics in the immediate post transplant period and compare patients with alcoholic vs viral cirrhosis. METhODS:Between 2000-2003,38 patients were transplanted for alcoholic cirrhosis and 28 for postviral *** rate(hR),central venous pressure(CVP), mean arterial pressure(MAP),pulmonary capillary wedge pressure(PCWP),cardiac index(CI),systemic vascular resistance index(SVRI),pulmonary artery pressure(PAP),and pulmonary vascular resistance index(PVRI)were measured immediately and 24 h post transplantation. RESULTS:hyperdynamic circulation persisted at 24 hfollowing transplantation with an elevated CI of 5.4± 1.3 L/(min×m 2 )and 4.9±1.0 L/(min×m 2 )in the viral and alcoholic groups,respectively,and was associated with a decreased *** the first 24 h, there was a significant decrease in hR and increase in MAP;the extent of the change was similar in both *** CVP,PCWP,and SVRI increased,and CI decreased in the viral patients,but not the alcoholic *** showed a lower PVRI(119±52 dynes/(cm 5 ×m 2 )vs 166±110 dynes/(cm5×m2),Phg vs 24±7 mmhg,Phe viral group at 24 h. CONCLUSION:hyperdynamic circulation persists in the immediate post-transplant period with a faster improvement in the viral *** patients have a more pronounced pulmonary vasodilatation.

A series of new 2,5-disubstituted-l,3,4-oxadiazole and 1,2,4-triazole derivatives were synthesized by hetero- cyclization of acid hydrazide I and thiosemicarbazide derivative 2. Furthermore, the acyclic C-nucleoside analogs were prepared by cyclization of their corresponding sugar hydrazones by reaction with acetic anhydride. The antimicrobial activity of the prepared compounds was evaluated and some of the synthesized compounds revealed good activities against fungi.

Background: Randomized clinical trials have demonstrated the benefits of chemotherapy in carefully selected non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients. how generalizable these results are to other NSCLC patients is unresolved. Methods: The outcomes of patients treated with standard chemotherapy regimens (paclitaxel / carboplatin;gemcitabine / carboplatin;pemetrexed / carboplatin;paclitaxel / carboplatin / bevacizumab) off study as first line therapy between 2002 and 2012 at our institution were compared to the reported results of trials supporting the FDA approval of these drugs and/or regimens. Results: In our population, 38.1% of the patients had hypertension, 11.9% of the patients were diabetic, 23.7% had chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), 11.9% had coronary artery disease (CAD) and 2.1% had renal or liver disease. Notably, the presence of a single or multiple comorbidities was associated with low overall survival compared to matched patients with no comorbidities (p = 0.007). Conclusion: The presence of single or multiple comorbidities is associated with inferior overall survival compared to matched groups without such pre-existing conditions.

The Arabian Gulf Countries(AGC)are strongly reliant on the economic export of fossil fuels,while being vulnerable to climate change that is resulting in temperature increase,air pollution and sea-level rise,and threatening the health of the population and *** agreement with the Paris Accords,most of the AGC have published short-term goals to reduce their carbon emissions in the coming *** relation to these goals,this study explores the potential CO_(2)reduction,avoidance and removal in the region,by comparing a business-as-usual(BAU)scenario to three decarbonization scenarios for the power *** 2018,the total greenhouse gas(GhG)emissions in the AGC were~1333 MtCO_(2)/yr and are expected to rise to 1568 MtCO_(2)/yr in 2030 following a BAU scenario,which is likely to be reduced to 1522 MtCO_(2)/yr in 2030 by following the countries’*** issued plans for the coming decades that focus on increasing the share of renewable energy in their grid *** three decarbonization scenarios presented in this study focus on supply-side technological *** retirement of the oldest natural-gas and oil power plants could lead to a total emissions reduction of~75 MtCO_(2)/yr,without accounting for the embodied carbon emissions associated with renewable *** addition,the implementation of point-source capture at power plants expected to retire in>10 years’time could avoid emissions of~240 MtCO_(2)/yr,provided the CO_(2)is permanently sequestered in appropriate geological *** region also shows high-quality solar resources and large CO_(2)-storage potential that could couple to direct air-capture plants to offset difficult-to-avoid *** last scenario has the potential to ultimately result in net negative emissions.

The work studied a non-catalytic upgrading of fast pyrolysis bio-oil by blending under supercritical conditions using methanol,ethanol and isopropanol as solvent and hydrogen *** of the bio-oil and the upgraded bio-oils was carried out including moisture content,elemental content,ph,heating value,gas chromatography-mass spectrometry(GCMS),Fourier transform infrared radiation,13C nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy,and thermogravimetric analysis to evaluate the effects of blending and supercritical *** GCMS analysis indicated that the supercritical methanol reaction removed the acids in the bio-oil consequently the ph increased from 2.39 in the crude bio-oil to 4.04 after the supercritical methanol *** ester contents increased by 87.49% after the supercritical methanol reaction indicating ester formation could be the major deacidification mechanism for reducing the acidity of the bio-oil and improving its ph *** blending crude bio-oil with isopropanol was effective in increasing the C and h content,reducing the O content and increasing the heating value to 27.55 from 17.51 MJ·kg^-1 in the crude *** the supercritical isopropanol reaction,the heating value o f the liquid product slightly further increased to 28.85 MJ·kg^-1.

UNASSIGNED:There is increasing evidence that biofilms are critical to the pathophysiology of chronic infections including chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). Until relatively recently, our understanding of biofilms was limited. Recent advances in methods for biofilm identification and molecular biology have offered new insights into the role of biofilms in CRS. With these insights, investigators have begun to investigate novel therapeutic strategies that may disrupt or eradicate biofilms in CRS.;UNASSIGNED:This review seeks to explore the evidence implicating biofilms in CRS, discuss potential anti-biofilm therapeutic strategies, and suggest future directions for research.;UNASSIGNED:The existing evidence strongly supports the role of biofilms in the pathogenesis of CRS. Several anti-biofilm therapies have been investigated for use in CRS and these are at variable stages of development. Generally, these strategies: 1) neutralize biofilm microbes; 2) disperse existing biofilms; or 3) disrupt quorum sensing. Several of the most promising anti-biofilm therapeutic strategies are reviewed.;UNASSIGNED:A better understanding of biofilm function and their contribution to the CRS disease process will be pivotal to the development of novel treatments that may augment and, potentially, redefine the CRS treatment paradigm. There is tremendous potential for future research.
