Prevalence and Correlates of Obesity and Overweight in Tunisian Bipolar I Patients

Objective: We aim to determine the prevalence of obesity and overweight in bipolar I patients, and to examine their associations with the demographic, clinical and therapeutic characteristics of this population. Patients and Methods: Our study included 120 bipolar I patients (79 men and 41 women, mean age = 39.5 ± 11.9 years). Weight and height were evaluated by body mass index (BMI). Obesity was defined when BMI ≥ 30 kg/m2 and overweight when BMI ≥ 25 kg/m2. Results: The prevalence of obesity and overweight was respectively 32.5% and 30.8%. Obesity was significantly more frequent in women than men. The illness duration was significantly longer in obese patients than in those with normal weight. Moreover, the family history of medical disorders and concomitant medical disorders was significantly more frequent in obese patients than in those with normal weight. However, any significant association between therapeutic characteristics and obesity or overweight was found. Conclusions: Obesity and overweight were frequent in bipolar I patients. Obesity was significantly frequent in women and significantly associated with illness duration, medical disorders, and concomitant medical disorders. These results emphasized the need for specific treatment strategies and programs for weight control for these patients.

Structural,elastic,electronic and optical properties of the Pt3Zr intermetallic compound are investigated using first principles calculations based on the density functional theory(DFT)within the generalized gradient approximation(GGA)and the local density approximation(LDA).The Pt3Zr compound is predicted to be of cubic L12 and hexagonal D024 *** calculated equilibrium ground-state properties(lattice parameters a and c,bulk modulus B and its pressure derivative B',formation enthalpy ΔH)of the Pt3Zr compound,for both cubic and hexagonal phases,show good agreement with the experimental results and other theoretical *** constants(C11,C12,C13,C33,C44,and C55)are *** predicted elastic properties such as Young's modulus E and shear modulus GH,Poisson ratioν,anisotropic ratio A,Kleinman parameter ξ,Cauchy pressure(C12-C44),ratios B/C44 and B/G,and Vickers hardness Hv indicate the stiffness,hardness and ductility of the *** characteristic parameters such as Debye temperature θD and melting temperature Tm are *** properties such as density of states(DOS)and electronic specific heat γ are also *** calculated results reveal that the Fermi level is on the psedogap for the D024 structure and on the antibonding side for the L12 *** optical property functions(real partε1(ω)and imaginary part ε2(ω)of dielectric function),optical conductivity σ(ω),refraction index n(ω),reflectivity R(ω),absorption α(ω)and extinction coefficients k(ω)and loss function L(ω)are also investigated for the first time for Pt3Zr in a large gamme of energy from 0 to 70 eV.

This paper presents a generalization to the higher-dimensional situation of the main results of the first author about the normality of one-fibered monomial ideals [2, Theoremes 2.4 and 3.8]. Precisely, we show that if I is a monomial ideal of R = k[x1, x2,..., Xd], then I is normal one-fibered if and only if for all positive integers n and all x, y in R such that xy ∈ I2n, either x or y belongs to In.

The delafossite CuCrO2 elaborated by sol-gel from 40 nm diameter colloid is optically active in the visible region. It is characterized physically and photoelectrochemically. The microstrncture is fairly homogenous with a mean crystallite size of ca. 2 Ixm. The optical gap （1.30 eV）, determined from the diffuse reflectance, is well suited to the sunlight spectrum. The Mott Schottky plot is characteristic of P-type conductivity with a flat band potential of-0.26 VscE. As application, the photoreduction of chromate is successfully achieved in air-equilibrated suspension CuCrO2/ZnO （1/1）. CuCrO2 is photoactivated by visible light and the electrons in the conduction band （-1.34 VscE） are injected to ZnO. In the presence of salicylic acid, a conversion of Cr（VI） to Cr（III） of 57% is obtained under optimal conditions （pH 3 at 25~C, 5x 10-4 mol/L） because of the HCrO4- dark adsorption onto ZnO （4HCrO4- ＋ 3C7H603 ＋ 1802 ＋ 16H~ 4Cr3＋＋ 21CO2 ＋ 19H20, AGO = -557 kcal/mol）. Prolonged illumination is accompanied by a deceleration in the photoactivity owing to the competitive water reduction, an issue of energetic concern. The hetero-system exhibits self sensitization for hydrogen production with an evolution rate of 149 Ixmol/（hr.g）.

Several prospects on the northern, central and southern Tunisian coasts were carried out for the sake of a better interpretation of Brachyuran species distribution. Animals were either, captured by hand, caught with a fine mesh net or brought back by fishermen in nets or dredges. A total of 21 species belonging to twelve families and inhabiting different substrates were collected and divided into littoral species and species of depth. Five species were reported for the first time, in Tunisia. The littoral species are Carcinus aestuarii, Liocarcinus corrugatus, Liocarcinus vernalis, Pachygrapsus marmoratus, Pachygrapsus maurus, Brachynotus sexdentatus, Eriphia verrucosa, Maja squinado, Maja crispata, Acanthonyx lunulatus and Pisa tetraodon. The species of depths are Portunus hastatus, Euchirograpsus liguricus, Xantho granulicarpus, Ilia nucleus, Inachus dorsettensis, Lissa chiragra, Pisa corallina, Pisa armata, Calappa granulata and Dromia personata. All these species are reported in the Mediterranean. Some are reported for the first time in Tunisia: P. maurus, A. lunulatus, P. hastatus, E. liguricus, L. chiragra and P. corallina. In order to know the frequency of each species, the presence index was calculated. Carcinus aestuarii present in 91% of prospected stations is the most frequent and wide-distributed brachyuran species along Tunisian coasts.

It has been reported that the host of SARS-CoV-2 can be extremely wide due to the conservation of angiotensin converting enzyme 2 in mammals[1].Several studies have reported natural or experimental infection with SARS-CoV-2 in pets,farm and captive wild animals[2-4].However,to the best of our knowledge,there was no published study assessing virus circulation among domestic or captive animals in Central,West and East *** this study,we assessed the presence and circulation of SARS-CoV-2 or other betacoronaviruses in pets,livestock and animals kept in captivity in conservation centers in Haut-Ogoouéprovince,southeastern Gabon.

The objective of the work involves the synthesis of comb-like amphiphilic cationic polymers with repeating units methacylamides laterally substituted by a group containing a quaternary ammonium site and a hydrophobic n-alkyl side chain with 8-10 carbon atoms. Two synthesis methods were developed successfully. The first method is consisted to synthesizing first amphiphilic cationic methacrylamide monomers. In the second method the tertiary amine groups of polymers precursors were quaternised with various n-alkyl bromides. All the polymers obtained in this way were characterized by spectroscopic methods： 1^H NMR and by viscometry. The reduced viscosity of hydro-alcoholic polymer solution decreases with polymer concentration. Viscometry study showed that these polymers display typical polysoap behavior in hydro-alcoholic mixtures.

The reproductive biology of a natural population of Idotea balthica basteri (Pallas, 1772) collected from Menzel Jemil (Bizerte lagoon, Tunisia) was monthly studied from October 2009 to October 2010. Besides water temperature, salinity, turbidity, pH, and dissolved oxygen were measured. Based on the state of differentiation of individuals, the population was divided into 8 categories. Their numbers depend on the one hand to intrinsic factors imposed by the specimens and the structure of the population themselves, and to extrinsic factors due to the variability of environmental conditions on the other hand. Females were morphologically recognisable at smaller size than males. Reproductive activity, which was reflected through the presence of ovigerous females and juveniles, underwent fluctuations throughout the year, but it was continuous. Moreover, salinity, temperature, nitrates, and plant biomass have a noticeable effect on the fecundity and fertility. The Principal Component Analysis also confirmed that the richness of the water in nitrates would be favorable to fecundity and fertility of Idotea balthica basteri. However, higher phosphate concentrations, in April and May seem to have a positive effect on the sex ratio. Otherwise, the temperature would be responsible for increasing the percentage of ovigerous females.

Characterization of the Dominant Bacterial Communities Associated with Terrestrial Isopod Species Based on 16S rDNA Analysis by PCR-DGGE

From the marine environment, woodlice gradually colonized terrestrial areas benefiting from the symbiotic relationship with the bacterial community that they host. Indeed, they constitute the only group of Oniscidea suborder that has succeed to accomplish their lives in terrestrial even desert surfaces. Herein they play an important role in the dynamic of ecosystems and the decomposition of litter. So to enhance our understanding of the sea-land transition and other process like decomposition and digestion of detritus, we studied the bacterial community associated with 11 specimens of terrestrial isopods belonging to six species using a Culture independent approach (DGGE). Bands sequencing showed that the cosmopolitan species Porcellionides pruinosus has the most microbial diversity. Screening demonstrated the predominance of Proteobacteria followed by members from Actinobacteria, Firmicutes and Cyanobacteria phyla. In fact we detected some symbionts like Wolbachia, Mycoplasma and Spiroplasma for the first time in a terrestrial isopod species.
