Breeding for pre-harvest sprouting resistance in bread wheat under rainfed conditions

Pre-harvest sprouting in wheat is the germination of seeds within the spikes when rains occur after or during grain ripening, which occurs commonly in the barani tract of Pakistan. Therefore, 10 cultivars and five advanced lines of spring bread wheat were evaluated for pre-harvest sprouting resistance. After natural rainfall,seeds were immediately collected from the wet spikes and tested for germinating ability. Three different germination tests were applied to hand-threshed seed:(1) spikes threshed on the day of sampling and germination tested immediately,(2) spikes threshed on the day of sampling and germination tested 1 week later, and(3) spikes threshed 1 week after sampling and germination test immediately after threshing. Seeds and spikes kept for 1 week were place on blotting paper at room *** BARS-09, 09 FJ17, Doukkala-12, NARC-09 and Ouassou-20 exhibited higher sprouting resistance while other genotypes were susceptible to pre-harvest sprouting in each of the three tests. A diallel crossing was conducted with six susceptible and two resistant genotypes to assess the genetic behavior of pre-harvest sprouting *** combining ability(CA) demonstrated a higher proportion of additive genetic effects for sprouting resistance, because of higher variance of general and specific CA for both parameters under study. Doukkala-12 and BARS-09 showed increased pre-harvest sprouting resistance in their F1 descendants.

This paper determines the risk for cardiovascular diseases(CVDs).and nutrition level in infants aged 06 montlis using Fuzzy Cognitive Maps(FCMs).The aim of this study is to facilitates the medical experts to early detects these diseases with accuracy,so that overall death ratio can be ***,we have introduced the concepts of FCMs and briefly refer to the applications of these methods in *** that,two intel ligent decision support systems for cardiovascular and malnutrition are developed using *** proposed cardiovascular risk assessment system takes six inputs:chest pain,cholesterol,heart rate,blood pressure,blood sugar,and old peak and determines CVDs *** second decision support system of malnutrition diagnosis takes twelve inputs:breastfeeding,daily income,maternal education,colostrum intake,energy intake,protein intake,vitamin A intake,iron intake,family size,height,weight,head circumference,and skin fold thickness and diagnoses the nutrition level in *** have explained the working of both decision support systems using case studies.

OBJECTIVE： To evaluate the effects of homoeopathic ultrahigh dilutions of Aconitum napellus in Baker＇s yeast-induced fever in rabbits. METHODS： Rabbits were divided into 4 groups and each group contained 6 rabbits. Baker＇s yeast suspension （20%） was injected subcutaneously. After fever induction, paracetamol and homoeopathic ultrahigh dilutions （A. nape//us 200c and 1 000c） were given orally. Rectal temperature was measured with digital thermometer hourly. RESULTS： Fever was induced in all the rabbits after 4 hours of Baker＇s yeast administration. A. nape//us 200c and 1000c significantly reduced the temperature （P 〈 0.05）. In positive control, temperature decrease was more significant （P 〈 0.001 ）. CONCLUSION： The above findings indicate the effectiveness of ultrahigh dilutions ofA. nape//us in Baker＇s yeast-induced fever in rabbits. However, the effects were slower and less significant than standard medicine Moreover, future research is required to know their mechanism of reducing temperature.

Under the background of“Internet plus”rapid development,the agricultural logistics industry should apply information technology to every link of the agricultural product logistics industry *** making full use of the decision making module of the agricultural logistics information system,we can realize the full sharing of information and data resources,which makes the decision-making scheme of the agricultural logistics information system more *** real economic society,the uncertainty and mismatch between the customer’s logistics service demand and the logistics service capability that the logistics service function provider can provide,that is,when the two information are asymmetric,how to use the third-party contract to coordinate the income and profit distribution of the two,to make the information system decision making more reasonable?This paper mainly studies the coordination scheme of agricultural logistics information system decision making under uncertain output and demand information by introducing the spot market.A joint coordination strategy based on revenue sharing and penalty feedback contracts proposes decentralized decision making based on game *** show that the flexible ordering strategy proposed in this paper can reduce the logistics service supply chain’s uncertainty and significantly improve the logistics service supply chain’s overall income level through coordination contracts.

Nowadays, modified electrodes with metal nanoparticles have appeared as an alternative for the electroanalysis of various compounds. In this study, gold nanoparticles（GNPs） were chosen as interesting metal nanoparticles for modifying carbon paste electrode（CPE）. GNPs and the gold nanoparticles-modified carbon paste electrode（GNPs/CPE） were characterized by UV–Vis spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy（TEM） and scanning electron microscopy（SEM）. GNPs/CPE as a simple and sensitive electrode was used to study three important biological molecules： folic acid（FA）, uric acid（UA） and ascorbic acid（AA）. Square wave voltammetry（SWV） was used as an accurate technique for quantitative measurements. A good linear relation was observed between anodic peak current（ipa） and FA（5.2 × 10（-6）– 2.5 × 10（-5）M）, UA（1.2 × 10（-6）– 2.1 × 10（-5）M） and AA（1.2 × 10（-6）– 2.5 × 10（-5）M） concentrations in simultaneous determination of these molecules.

Optimization of Neutrino Oscillation Parameters Using Differential Evolution

We show how the traditional grid based method for finding neutrino oscillation parameters △m2 and tan2θ can be combined with an optimization technique, Differential Evolution （DE）, to get a significant decrease in computer processing time required to obtain minimal chi-square （χ2） in four different regions of the parameter space. We demonstrate efficiency for the two-neutrinos case. For this, the χ2 function for neutrino oscillations is evaluated for grids with different density of points in standard allowed regions of the parameter space of △m2 and tan2θ using experimental and theoretical total event rates of ehlorine （Homestake）, Gallex＋GNO, SAGE, Superkamiokande, and SNO detectors. We find that using DE in combination with the grid based method with smail density of points can produce the results comparable with the one obtained using high density grid, in much lesser computation time.

Trends in species distribution modelling in context of rare and endemic plants:a systematic review

Background:Many research papers have utilized Species Distribution Models to estimate a species’current and future geographic distribution and environmental *** study aims to(a)understand critical features of SDMs used to model endemic and rare species and(b)to identify possible constraints with the collected *** present systematic review examined how SDMs are used on endemic and rare plant species to identify optimal practices for future ***:The evaluated literature(79 articles)was published between January 2010 and December *** number of papers grew considerably over *** studies were primarily conducted in Asia(41%),Europe(24%),and Africa(2%).The bulk of the research evaluated(38%)focused on theoretical ecology,climate change impacts(19%),and conservation policy and planning(22%).Most of the papers were published in publications devoted to biodiversity conservation,ecological or multidisciplinary *** degree of uncertainty was not disclosed in most studies(81%).Conclusion:This systematic review provides a broad overview of the emerging trends and gaps in the SDMs *** majority of studies failed to present uncertainties and error ***,when model performance estimates are given,the model results will be highly effective,allowing for more assurance in the predictions they ***,based on our systematic review,we recommend that in the future rare and endemic SDMs should represent uncertainty levels and estimates of errors in the modelling process.

Influence of thyroid volume reduction on absorbed dose in ^(131)I therapy studied by using Geant4 Monte Carlo simulation

A simulation study has been performed to quantify the effect of volume reduction on the thyroid absorbed dose per decay and to investigate the variation of energy deposition per decay due to β- and γ-activity of 131I with volume/mass of thyroid, for water, ICRP- and ICRU-soft tissue taken as thyroid material. A Monte Carlo model of the thyroid, in the Geant4 radiation transport simulation toolkit was constructed to compute the β- and γ-absorbed dose in the simulated thyroid phantom for various values of its volume. The effect of the size and shape of the thyroid on energy deposition per decay has also been studied by using spherical, ellipsoidal and cylindrical models for the thyroid and varying its volume in 1-25 cm3 range. The relative differences of Geant4 results for different models with each other and MCNP results lie well below 1.870%. The maximum relative difference among the Geant4 estimated results for water with ICRP and ICRU soft tissues is not more than 0.225%. S-values for ellipsoidal, spherical and cylindrical thyroid models were estimated and the relative difference with published results lies within 3.095%. The absorbed fraction values for beta particles show a good agreement with published values within 2.105% deviation. The Geant4 based simulation results of absorbed fractions for gammas again show a good agreement with the corresponding MCNP and EGS4 results （±6.667%） but have 29.032% higher values than that of MIRD calculated values. Consistent with previous studies, the reduction of the thyroid volume is found to have a substantial effect on the absorbed dose. Geant4 simulations confirm dose dependence on the volume/mass of thyroid in agreement with MCNP and EGS4 computed values but are substantially different from MIRD8 data. Therefore, inclusion of size/mass dependence is indicated for 131I radiotherapy of the thyroid.
