BACKGROUND Visceral leishmaniasis(VL)is a systemic protozoan infection caused by Leishmania donovani(***)and transmitted by sand flies,causing macrophage invasion in the liver,spleen,and bone *** of VL is currently based on clinical signs,symptoms,and specific in-vitro markers and bone marrow ***,VL's specific hematological and bone marrow manifestation in sudanese pediatric patients is not well *** To examine the blood and bone marrow characteristics in pediatric patients from sudan who have *** This is a retrospective hospital-based study with a sample of 107 consecutive sudanese pediatric *** data focused on hematological and bone marrow *** included only the completed records of the pediatric patients with VL in the Tropical Disease Teaching Hospital in Khartoum,sudan from the period of 2016 to *** The majority of pediatric patients included in this study are below 5-years-old(n=59,55.2%).Moreover,anemia,thrombocytopenia,and leukopenia were among the prevalent characteristics in the population under *** further analyze the data,we developed a machine learning model using boosted forest algorithms to predict *** parasites load,with a mean accuracy of 0.88 for the training dataset and an accuracy of 0.46,0.50,and 0.74 for mild,moderate,and severe *** parasite load in the validation *** This study shows that the most common bone marrow change among sudanese VL children w.s.increased chronic inflammatory cells(n=88,82.2%)with present macrophage hemophagocytes(n=103,96.3%).while anemia and thrombocytopenia were the most common hematological *** results will hopefully lead to an early diagnosis and hence better management for sudanese pediatric patients with suspected VL.

Introduction: Healthcare workers in Mogadishu, somalia face significant occupational injury risks, particularly needle stick injuries, with 61.1% reporting incidents. This poses a serious threat to their health, leading to infections such as hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and HIV. Despite the high prevalence of injuries, awareness of Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) accessibility is relatively high, with 84.0% of respondents aware of it. However, there are gaps in knowledge and implementation, as evidenced by variations in availability of PEP. Improving workplace safety measures, providing comprehensive training on injury prevention and PEP protocols, and ensuring consistent availability of PEP in healthcare facilities are crucial steps to safeguard the well-being of healthcare workers in Mogadishu, somalia. Methods: A cross-sectional study w.s.conducted among hospital workers in Mogadishu, somalia, focusing on professionals from various healthcare facilities. The study targeted nurses, doctors, laboratory personnel, and pharmacists. Purposive sampling w.s.employed, resulting in a sample size of 383 calculated using Fisher’s sample size formula. Data were collected using coded questionnaires entered into Microsoft Excel 2019 and analyzed with sPss software to generate frequencies and proportions, presented through frequency tables and pie figures. Results: The study in Mogadishu, somalia, examined the prevalence of occupational injuries and knowledge of Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) accessibility among healthcare workers. Findings indicate a high prevalence of injuries, with 61.1% reporting incidents, predominantly needle stick injuries (60.6%). Despite the majority seeking prompt medical attention (72.0%), work-related illnesses affected 53.2% of respondents, notably work-related stress (59.5%). while most received training on injury and illness prevention (68.9%), gaps exist in PEP awareness, with 16.0% unaware of it. 为探究生物炭长期施入对土壤有机碳(sOC)及其活性组分的影响,通过室内培养试验,比较短期(1个月)施用生物炭(BF)和生物炭施入3 a(BA)对sOC及其组分的影响。结果表明:生物炭施入显著提高了sOC、颗粒有机碳(POC)、易氧化有机碳(EOC)、轻组有机碳(LFOC)和微生物生物量碳(MBC)含量。相比不施生物炭处理(CK),施用生物炭处理土壤的POC、EOC、LFOC和MBC分别增加了97.5%~241.5%、21.8%~59.4%、66.8%~202.7%和83.7%~199.9%。相较于BF,BA的sOC、EOC、POC和MBC含量显著降低,但溶解性有机碳(DOC)含量显著升高。相较于CK,施生物炭土壤的碳库管理指数(CPMI)显著提高,培养1个月的1%生物炭(BF1)和2%生物炭(BF2)及培养3 a的1%生物炭(BA1)和2%生物炭(BA2)处理的CPMI值分别提高了48.81%、89.73%、54.66%和157.48%。相关分析显示,MBC、POC、LFOC及EOC含量与sOC含量显著正相关。综上所述,施用生物炭能实现土壤固碳,但随着施用年限延长,CPMI显著降低,从而降低了sOC的稳定性。

Egyptian heavy vacuum gas oil hydrotreating over Co-Mo/CNT and Co-Mo/γ-Al2O3 catalysts

The catalytic activity of CoMos /CNT towards the Egyptian heavy vacuum gas oil hydrotreating w.s.studied. The delivered CNT w.s.functionalized with 6 mol /L HNO_3. The CNT were loaded with 12% MoO_3( by weight) and 0.7 Co /Mo atomic ratio with impregnation methods. The γ-Al_2O_3 catalyst w.s.also prepared by impregnation method to compare both catalysts *** analysis tools such XRD,Raman spectroscopy,TEM,and BET were used to characterize the catalysts. The autoclave reactor w.s.used to operate the hydrotreating experiments. The hydrotreating reactions were tested at various operating conditions of temperature 325-375 ℃,pressure 2-6 MPa,time 2-6 h,and catalyst /oil ratio( by weight) of 1 ∶75,1 ∶33 and 1 ∶10. The results revealed that the CoMos /CNT w.s.highly efficient for the hydrotreating more than the CoMos /γ-Al_2O_3. Also, the hydrodesulfurization( HDs) increased with increasing catalyst /oil ratio. Additionally,results showed that the optimum condition w.s.temperature 350℃,pressure 4 MPa,catalyst /oil ratio of 1 ∶75 for 2 h. Furthermore,even at low CoMos /CNT catalyst /oil ratio of 1 ∶75,an acceptable HDs of 77.1% w.s.achieved.

Acute Transverse Myelitis in Pregnancy—A Case Report and a Literature Review

Purpose: This case report highlights a rare instance of a 26-week pregnant woman presenting with limb numbness, diagnosed with acute transverse myelitis (ATM) following COVID-19 vaccination. Notably, she tested positive for neuromyelitis optica (NMO) but did not exhibit the typical symptoms of blurred vision. Methods: Data were collected from I seha in governmental hospitals in Bahrain, providing a comprehensive overview of the patient’s clinical journey. Results: The patient w.s.treated with carbamazepine, steroids, and clexane, leading to the successful delivery of a healthy baby at 34 weeks. However, two years postpartum, she reported new episodes of blurred vision and numbness. subsequent treatment with Rituximab resulted in significant improvement, with a diagnosis of Devic’s disease established. Conclusion: Acute transverse myelitis is a rare condition, particularly during pregnancy, and in this case, symptoms of Devic’s disease were masked by the absence of blurred vision. This condition predominantly affects females in their 20s during childbearing years and can lead to complications such as premature delivery. Effective management includes steroids and antiepileptic drugs, with clexane playing a crucial role in preventing embolisms. A delivery mode may vary based on obstetric factors, and MRI remains the gold standard for diagnosis. Close follow-up is essential for optimal patient outcomes.

Parallel Inference for Real-Time Machine Learning Applications

Hyperparameter tuning is a key step in developing high-performing machine learning models, but searching large hyperparameter spaces requires extensive computation using standard sequential methods. This work analyzes the performance gains from parallel versus sequential hyperparameter optimization. Using scikit-learn’s Randomized searchCV, this project tuned a Random Forest classifier for fake news detection via randomized grid search. setting n_jobs to -1 enabled full parallelization across CPU cores. Results show the parallel implementation achieved over 5× faster CPU times and 3× faster total run times compared to sequential tuning. However, test accuracy slightly dropped from 99.26% sequentially to 99.15% with parallelism, indicating a trade-off between evaluation efficiency and model performance. still, the significant computational gains allow more extensive hyperparameter exploration within reasonable timeframes, outweighing the small accuracy decrease. Further analysis could better quantify this trade-off across different models, tuning techniques, tasks, and hardware.

Distribution, Mobility, and Health Risks Assessment of Trace Metals in River sediments from Intense Agricultural Activity Areas in w.s. Africa

The economy of w.s. African countries is mainly based on agriculture. However, the trace metal(loid)s contamination status in rivers is relatively unknown in the region. In this work, 45 surface sediments collected from the Bandama, Comoé, and Bia Rivers in south and south eastern Côte d’Ivoire (w.s. Africa), were analyzed for total metal concentrations and chemical speciation. The results showed that the river sediments were considerably contaminated by Cd and moderately contaminated by As, Cu, Pb, and Zn. significant spatial variations were observed among the stations but not between the rivers. Metals Cd and Cu were likely to cause more ecological risks. The speciation analysis unravelled that the metal(loid)s partitioned mainly in the residual fraction, with the potential mobile fraction varying from 14% to 28%. The study calls for establishment of strict policies relative to the application of fertilizers and agrochemicals and mining activities to protect the environment and human health risks.

Exploring Trees Diversity and Ecological Value of Mountain Forests in the Blue Nile Region of sudan

we carried out this research at Abu-Gaddaf Natural Forest Reserve (ANFR) which is located east of Blue Nile River, in Blue Nile state, sudan. It aims at exploring tree composition assessing their diversity indices, and ecological importance values. For survey of types and estimation of density of tree species in the forest, we randomly distributed 97 circular sample plots (0.1 hectare (ha)). In each sample plot we identified all trees to the species level, recorded their frequencies and computed species diversity and importance value indices (IVI). A total of 13 tree species, which belong to 12 genera and nine families, were identified in the tree layer of the forest. Mean tree density in ANFR w.s.116 trees/ha, composed mainly of Boswellia papyrifera (Del.) Hochst. (48), followed by Combretum hartmannianu (19) and Lannea fruticosa (18). Fabaceae w.s.the most common family followed by Combretaceae and Malvaceae. B. papyrifera Delile Hochst w.s.the most abundant while Acacia seyal w.s.the least abundant species. species richness (R = 1.71), evenness (E = 0.69), dominance (0.24) indices and simpson’s Index of Diversity (D' = 0.76) suggest a moderate diversity, moderate numbers of individuals in each species and a moderate community stability. The research provides empirical results on diversity and ecological importance value of species, signifies the urging need to safeguard threatened species and to prioritize them for conservation, as well as the need to promote management of abundant species to provide multiple forest ecosystem services.
