Purpose:This article aims to(1)systematically examine the development of career guidance practices in Hong Kong over the past 40 years,(2)discuss developmental attention to the careerrelated self-concept of diverse learners,and(3)propose a multidimensional model of self-concept by integrating the career-related domains with recent advances in self-concept research pertaining to students’in-school and post-school ***/Approach/Methods:This article charts the developmental trend of career guidance and counseling(CGC)over more than 40 years in Hong *** article also examines key findings relating to self-concept research made in the fields of education and career counseling in the past 50 ***:For 50 years,Hong Kong has progressively recognized the importance of *** government’s continued determination to refine its policies and practices in this domain was succinctly highlighted in the Chief Executive’s 2018 policy ***,many challenges pertaining the professional competence of career guidance teachers and the ability of school administrators to manage the paradigm shift from informal to formal career guidance and counseling practices(CGCPs)***,the effects of these CGCPs on students’gains of career-related abilities and interests directly and indirectly remain ***/Value:This article integrates research into the developmental trend of career guidance practices in secondary schools and the study of academic *** article builds upon previous self-concept research by proposing an extended self-concept model that includes the career-related domain,setting a theoretical model for further research to ***,the article demonstrates the importance of tailoring career guidance activities in secondary education to reflect the diverse career-related self-concepts held by today’s students with diverse abilities.

The effects of fibre/matrix bonding, fabric density, fibre volume fraction and bundle size on microstructure, mechanical properties and failure mechanisms in carbon fibre reinforced composites （plastic and carbon matrix） have been investigated. The microstructure of unloaded and cracked samples was studied by optical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, respectively whereas the mechanical behaviour was examined by 3- point bending experiments. Exclusively one type of experimental resole type phenolic resin was applied. A strong fibre/matrix bonding, which is needed for high strength of carbon fibre reinforced plastic （CFRP） materials leads to severe composite damages during the pyrolysis resulting in low strength, brittle failure and a very low utilisation of the fibres strain to failure in C/C composites. Inherent fabric parameters such as an increasing fabric density or bundle size or a reduced fibre volume fraction introduce inhomogenities to the CFRP＇s microstructure. Results are lower strength and stiffness whereas the strain to failure increases or remains unchanged. Toughness is almost not affected. In C/C composites inhomogenities due to a reduced bundle size reduce strain to failure, strength, stiffness and toughness. Vice versa a declining fibre volume fraction leads to exactly the opposite behaviour. Increasing the fabric density （weight per unit area） causes similar effects as in CFRPs.

Growth and ordering of coherently strained Ge-rich islands in Ge/Si single layer and multilayer systems and the influence of island arrangements on the evolutio n of the surface morphology of Si cap layers during deposition by low-pressure c hemical vapour deposition(LPCVD) on Si(001) substrates at 700℃ have been invest igated by TEM of cross-section and plan-view specimens. At distances between the Ge layers of 35-50nm, vertical order of GeSi islands is observed for Ge-Si bila yer systems and for Ge-Si multilayer systems consisting of 5 layer pairs whereas lateral ordering parallel to substrate directions is observed for the lat ter case only. In agreement with earlier results the vertical ordering in the mu ltilayer system can be understood as result of the elastic interaction between i sland nuclei forming in the layers with close islands in a buried layer below. T he lateral ordering along may be attributed to the anisotropy of the elast ic interaction. Characteristic for all Si surfaces are the spatial correlation b etween the presence of island-induced lattice strain and the appearance of array s of larger square-shaped pyramids with distinct faceting and facet edges along . The results reflect the importance of the control of growth parameters an d of the island-induced strain state for the evolution of the Si top layer surfa ce morphology during LPCVD growth.

AIM:To explore the effect and mechanism of gastrin and its antagonists prog lumide and somatostatin on colorectal carcinoma and their clinical ***:A model of transplanted human colonic carcinoma was established from Sw480 cell line in gymnomouse *** volume and weight of transplanted carcinoma was observed under the effect of pentagatrin (PG), proglumide (PGL) and octapeptide somotostatin (SMS201-995, SMS). The cAMP content of carcinoma cell was determined by radioimmunoassay and the DNA, protein content and cell cycle were determined by flow-cytometry. The amount of viable cells was determined by MTT colorimetric analysis,IP(3) content was determined by radioimmunoassay, Ca(2+) concentration in cell by fluorometry and PKC activity by isotopic enzymolysis. The expression of gastrin, c-myc, c-fos and rasP21 in 48 cases of colorectal carcinoma tissue was detected by the immuno-cytochemistry SP method. Argyrophilia nucleolar organizer regions was determined with argyrophilia ***:The volume,weight, cAMP, DNA and protein content in carcinoma cell, cell amount and proliferation index of S and G(2)M phase in PG group were all significantly higher than those of control group. when PG was at the concentration of 25mg/L, the amount of viable cells, IP(3) content and Ca(2+) concentration in cell and membrane PKC activity in PG group were significantly higher than those in control group; when PGL was at a concentration of 32mg/L, they dropped to the lowest level in PG (25mg/L)+PGL group, but without significant difference from the control group. The positive expression rate of gastrin, c-myc, c-fos and rasP21 in carcinoma tissue was 39.6%, 54.2%, 47.9% and 54.2% respectively and significantly higher than that in mucosa 3cm and 6cm adjacent to carcinoma tissue and normal colorectal mucosa. The corrosion resistance of three Mg alloys containing rare-earth elements(wE43,EV31 and ZE41)was studied and compared to that of two Mg-Al alloys(AZ31 and AZ91)and of pure Mg(99.95 wt.%).Current-voltage curves and electrochemical impedance measurements were performed with rotating disk electrodes in an aerated 0.1 M Na_(2)SO_(4)*** all the alloys,it was confirmed that the intermetallic particles acted as local cathodes and that more protective films were formed on the alloys surface by comparison with the pure *** rates were determined from inductive coupled plasma-optical emission spectroscopy measurements and from the electrochemical *** corrosion rates were observed for the rare-earth Mg alloys compared to the AZ series *** data allowed the corrosion mechanisms to be discussed.

A mathematical model is presented for forced convective slip flow of a nanofluid past a radiating stretching/shrinking *** boundary condition is taken into *** nanofluid model involves the brownian motion and thermophoresis *** group transformation is used to the transport equations as well as the boundary conditions to develop the similarity equations,before being solved numerically using the Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg fourth-fifth order numerical *** show the effects of the controlling parameters on the dimensionless velocity,temperature,nanoparticle volume fraction,skin friction factor,local Nusselt,and local Sherwood numbers,numerical results are presented both in graphical and tabular *** is found that the friction factor decreases with slip and melting parameters for both stretching/shrinking *** is also found that the Nusselt number decreases with the first order slip while it increases with melting and radiation parameters in both ***,the Sherwood number decreases with the melting parameter both for radiating and non-radiating stretching/shrinking *** excellent agreement is found between the present numerical results and published results.

Hypersensitivity of the ternary complexes Ln(beta-dik)(4)HMQ(where Ln=Nd, Ho, Er, beta-dik=acetylacetonate(AA), dibenzoylmethanate(DbM) and MQ=4-methylquinoline) in acetone solution is studied based on the dynamic coupling model. The structures of these complexes in solution are deduced. Their coordination polyhedrons are all distorted square antiprism. Neodymium complexes have D-2 symmetry, while holmium and erbium complexes have exact D-2d symmetry.

Achieving tunable band gaps in a structure by external stimuli is of great importance in acoustic applications. This paper aims to investigate the tunability of band gaps in square-lattice-like elastic periodic structures that are usually not featured with notable band gaps. Endowed with chirality, the periodic structures here are able to undergo imperfection-insensitive large deformation under extension or compression. The influences of geometric parameters on band gaps are discussed via the nonlinear finite element method. It is shown that the band gaps in such structures with curved beams can be very rich and, more importantly, can be efficiently and robustly tuned by applying appropriate mechanical loadings without inducing buckling. As expected, geometry plays a more significant role than material nonlinearity does in the evolution of band gaps. The dynamic tunability of band gaps through mechanical loading is further studied. Results show that closing, opening, and shifting of band gaps can be realized by exerting real-time global extension or compression on the structure. The proposed periodic structure with well-designed chiral symmetry can be useful in the design of particular acoustic devices.
