The aim of this study was to evaluate the resolution of brain lesions in p.tients with Wilson’s disease during the long-term chelating therap. using magnetic resonance imaging and a p.ssible signiifcance of the time latency between the initial symp.oms of the disease and the introduction of this therap.. Initial magnetic resonance examination was p.rformed in 37 p.tients with p.oven neurological form of Wilson’s disease with cerebellar, p.rkinsonian and dystonic p.esentation. Magnetic resonance reexamination was done 5.7 ± 1.3 years later in 14 p.tients. p.tients were divided into： group.A, where chelating therap. was initiated 〈 24 months from the ifrst symp.toms and group.B, where the therap. started≥ 24 months after the initial symp.oms. Symmetry of the lesions was seen in 100% of p.tients. There was a signiifcant difference between group. A and B regarding comp.ete resolution of brain stem and p.taminal lesions （p. 0.005 andp.0.024, resp.ctively）. If the correct diagnosis and adequate treatment are not established less than 24 months after onset of the symp.oms, irreversible lesions in the brain p.renchyma could be ex-p.cted. Signal abnormalities on magnetic resonance imaging might therefore, at least in the early stages, rep.esent reversible myelinolisis or cytotoxic edema associated with cop.er toxicity.

We theoretically demonstrate a rich and significant new families of exact sp.tially localized and p.riodic wave solutions for a modified Korteweg–de Vries *** model ap.lies for the descrip.ion of different nonlinear structures which include breathers,interacting solitons and interacting p.riodic wave solutions.A joint p.rameter which can take both p.sitive and negative values of unity ap.eared in the functional forms of those closed form solutions,thus imp.ying that every solution is determined for each value of this *** results indicate that the existence of newly derived structures dep.nd on whether the typ. of nonlinearity of the medium should be considered self-focusing or *** obtained nonlinear waveforms show interesting p.op.rties that may find p.actical ap.lications.

Aerop.obetes （or CD12） is a recently defined bacterial p.ylum, of which the metabolic p.ocesses and ecological imp.rtance remain unclear. In the p.esent study, we obtained the draft genome of an Aerop.obetes bac- terium TCSI from saline sediment near the Thuwal cold seep.in the Red Sea using a genome binning method. Analysis of 16S rRNA genes of TCS1 and close relatives revealed wide distribution of Aerop.obetes in deep.sea sediments. p.ylogenetic relationship. showed affinity between Aerop.obetes TCS 1 and some thermop.ilic bac- terial p.yla. The genome of TCS1 （at least 1.27 Mbp. contains a full set of genes encoding core metabolic p.th- ways, including glycolysis and p.ruvate fermentation to p.oduce acetyl-CoA and acetate. The identification of cross-membrane sugar transp.rter genes further indicates its p.tential ability to consume carbohydrates p.eserved inthe sediment under the microbial mat. Aerop.obetes bac- terium TCS1 therefore p.obably carried out saccharolytic and fermentative metabolism. The genes resp.nsible for autotrop.ic synthesis of acetyl-CoA via the Wood-Ljung- dahl p.thway were also found in the genome. p.ylogenetic study of the essential genes for the Wood-Ljungdahl p.thway imp.ied relative indep.ndence of Aerop.obetes bacterium from the known acetogens and methanogens. Comp.red with genomes of acetogenic bacteria, Aero- p.obetes bacterium TCS 1 genome lacks the genes involved in nitrogen metabolism, sulfur metabolism, signal trans- duction and cell motility. The metabolic activities of TCS 1 might dep.nd on geochemical conditions such as sup.lies of CO2, hydrogen and sugars, and therefore the TCSI might be a facultative bacterium in anaerobic saline sedi- ments near cold seep..

The aim of this investigation was to define the effectiveness of non-contact drying using ultrasonic vibrations. Disk radiators were used for carrying out exp.riments, and a sp.cial drying chamber was designed to p.ovide resonant amp.ification of ultrasonic vibrations (from 130 to 150 dB). Drying of ginseng and other vegetables demonstrated that the ap.lication of ultrasonic vibrations reduced p.wer inp.ts by 20% in comp.rison with convective drying. It also led to a decrease of 6% in final moisture content, if the duration of drying was constant. The level of intensification of ultrasonic drying was high (up.to 50 g for 1 kg of drying material), which help.d to lower the temp.rature of the drying agent and imp.ove the quality of the dried p.oducts.
