Pol.ethersul.hone(PES)membranes modified with urethane functional.groups were prepared through an interfacial.reaction using el.ctron beam *** removal.of eight endocrine disrupting chemical.(EDCs)was studied using both pristine and functional.zed PES *** prepared membranes underwent characterization using several.techniques,incl.ding attenuated total.refl.ctance-Fourier transform infrared(ATR-FTIR)spectroscopy,scanning el.ctron microscopy,contact angl. anal.sis,and measurements of pure water ***,dynamic adsorption experiments were conducted to eval.ate the adsorption mechanism of the prepared membrane toward the eight *** urethane functional.zed membranes were hydrophil.c(52°contact angl.)and maintained a high permeate fl.x(26000 l.h m^(2) bar)throughout the fil.ration *** adsorption resul.s demonstrated that the introduction of urethane functional.groups on the membranes significantl. enhanced the removal.efficiency of 17β-estradiol.estriol.bisphenol.A,estrone,ethinyl.stradiol.and *** adsorption l.ading of 17β-estradiol.on the functional.zed PES membrane was 6.7±0.7 mg/m^(2),exhibiting a 5-fol. increase compared to the unmodified PES *** membranes were successful.y regenerated and reused for three adsorption cycl.s without experiencing any l.ss of adsorption capacity.

The material. studied were l.teritic soil. from Souza-Mbanga-Cameroon, with a view to their better use in road geotechnics. In order to achieve the set objective, the work was carried out in two phases, firstl. in the fiel., to provide a morpho-structural.description of the soil.profil.s, fol.owed by a l.boratory phase to anal.se the sampl.s col.ected in the fiel.. The resul.s of the physical.characterisation of the soil.sampl.s show that, for average val.es, the water content is 9.87%, the percentage of fines 48%, the pl.sticity index 21.6%, the l.quidity l.mit 50.91%, and the consistency index 1.97. These soil. are cl.ssified as sil.y sands in the l.PC cl.ssification and as fine soil. in the GTR cl.ssification. The average val.e of the maximum dry density is 1.81 g/cm3 and that of the water content at the modified Proctor optimum is 16.24%. The CBR index is between 1.8% and 17.8%, showing that these soil. bel.ng to cl.sses S1, S2, S3, S4 and S5. Souza-Mbanga l.teritic soil. can be used in their natural.state as subgrades.

Experimental.investigation has been carried out for l.ser ignition and combustion of nanothermites based on al.minum and oxides of copper,bismuth and *** mixing of nanosized powders was used to produce *** thermite ignition,initiating l.ser pul.e with a maximum intensity of 770 W/cm2 was generated by a l.ser diode with a wavel.ngth of 808 *** ignition del.y times,the minimum initiation energy density,and the average burning rate at various thermite densities and mass fractions of components were determined by recording the emission of radiation of the reaction products using a mul.ichannel.pyrometer jointl. with a high-speed video *** effect of adding carbon bl.ck on the threshol. parameters of a l.ser pul.e was al.o *** on the obtained resul.s,certain assumptions were put forward with regard to the mechanism of nanothermites’ignition by l.ser radiation and their *** particul.r,the assumptions were made on the two-stage process of the reaction initiation and jet burning mechanism of porous nanothermites.

Rel.tionships between diameter at breast height(dbh) versus stand density, and tree height versus dbh(height curve) were expl.red with the aim to find if there were functional.l.nks between correspondent parameters of the rel.tionships, exponents and intercepts of their power functions. A geometric model.of a forest stand using a conic approximation suggested that there shoul. be interrel.tions between correspondent exponents and intercepts of the rel.tionships. It is equival.nt to a type of ‘rel.tionship between rel.tionships’ that might exist in a forest stand undergoing sel.-thinning, and means that parameters of one rel.tionship may be predicted from parameters of another. The predictions of the model.were tested with data on forest stand structure from publ.shed databases that invol.ed a number of trees species and site qual.ty l.vel.. It was found that the correspondent exponents and intercepts may be directl. recal.ul.ted from one another for the simpl.st case when the total.stem surface area was independent of stand density. For cases where total.stem surface area changes with the drop of density, it is possibl. to devel.p a general.zation of the model.in which the interrel.tionships between correspondent parameters(exponents and intercepts) may be stil. establ.shed.
