To investigate the potential ef.ects of.wastewater sludge and sludge biochar on growth, yield and metal bioaccumulation of.cherry tomato （Lycopersicon esculentum L.）, a pot experiment was carried out under greenhouse environment with three dif.erent treatments, control soil （CP）, soil with wastewater sludge （SS） and soil with sludge biochar （SB）, to reveal the comparative ef.ect between the amendments of.wastewater sludge and sludge biochar. The soil used f.r pot experiment was Chromosol. Wastewater sludge and sludge biochax produced through pyrolysis process at 550 ℃ were applied at 10 t ha-1. No signif.cant dif.erence was f.und in growth and production of.cherry tomatoes between wastewater sludge and sludge biochar applications to the soil. The accumulation rates of.metals in the f.uits were lower in the treatment with sludge biochar than in the treatment with wastewater sludge. The study highlights the benef.ts of.risk mitigation f.om toxic metal accumulation in f.uits using wastewater sludge and sludge biochar as soil conditioners.

Neuroglial cells are homeostatic neural cells. Generally, they are electrically non-excitable and their activation is associated with the generation of.complex intracellular Ca^2＋ signals that def.ne the ＂Ca^2＋ excitability＂ of.glia. In mammalian glial cells the major source of.Ca^2＋ f.r this excitability is the lumen of.the endoplasmic reticulum （ER）, which is ultimately （re）f.lled f.om the extracellular space. This occurs via store-operated Ca^2＋ entry （SOCE） which is supported by a specif.c signaling system connecting the ER with plasmalemmal Ca^2＋ entry. Here, emptying of.the ER Ca^2＋ store is necessary and suf.icient f.r the activation of.SOCE, and without Ca^2＋ inf.ux via SOCE the ER store cannot be ref.lled. The molecular arrangements underlying SOCE are relatively complex and include plasmalemmal channels, ER Ca^2＋ sensors, such as stromal interaction molecule, and possibly ER Ca^2＋ pumps （of.the SERCA type）. There are at least two sets of.plasmalemmal channels mediating SOCE, the Ca2＊-release activated channels, Orai, and transient receptor potential （TRP） channels. The molecular identity of.neuroglial SOCE has not been yet identif.ed unequivocally. However, it seems that Orai is predominantly expressed in microglia, whereas astrocytes and oligodendrocytes rely more on TRP channels to produce SOCE. In physiological conditions the SOCE pathway is instrumental f.r the sustained phase of.the Ca^2＋ signal observed f.llowing stimulation of.metabotropic receptors on glial cells.

Chick viability is known to be an important f.ctor determining prof.tability of.the poultry industry. Chick embryo tissues contain a high proportion of.highly polyunsaturated f.tty acids in the lipid f.action and theref.re need antioxidant def.nce. The antioxidant system of.the developing embryo and newly hatched chick includes the antioxidant enzymes(superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase, catalase), water-soluble antioxidants(ascorbic acid, taurine, carnitine, glutathione, etc.), f.t-soluble antioxidants(vitamin E, carotenoids, coenzyme Q) as well as selenium(Se). In f.ct, the high levels of.endogenous antioxidants within the egg and embryonic tissues can clearly serve as a major adaptive mechanism f.r the protection of.the tissue during the oxidative stress experienced at hatching. It has been shown that among dif.erent nutrients in the maternal diet which could signif.cantly af.ect chick embryo development and their viability in the early posthatch lif., natural antioxidants have been suggested to play a central role. Our data indicate that increased supplementation of.the maternal diet can substantially increase concentrations of.vitamin E, carotenoids(especially canthaxanthin) and Se in developing chick tissues and signif.cantly decrease susceptibility to lipid peroxidation being ef.ective nutritional tools to deal with various commercial stresses in poultry production.

Topochemical ion-exchange reactions between solid micro- and nanostructured metal chalcogenides and aqueous salt solutions are generally used f.r f.rmation of.composite structures based on initial metal chalcogenides and products of.their ion-exchange transf.rmation. However, ion exchange has promises as a route to obtaining both composites and solid solutions based on the initial and the end chalcogenide phases. With the help of.the ion-exchange technique, single-phase f.lms of.Phi xSnxSe substitutional solid solutions with a tin content up to -2 at.%, which are promising f.r mid- and long-wavelength inf.ared radiation （IR） optoelectronics, have been obtained at the interf.ce between PbSe poly- crystalline thin f.lms and SnCl2 aqueous solutions containing sodium citrate. It has been shown that the pH value and temperature of.the reaction system play an important role in the ion-exchange process. Incubation of.lead selenide （PbSe） f.lms in a tin（II） salt aqueous solution also leads to their modif.cation with oxygen-containing tin compounds to a depth of.3 nm. Dif.erences in the f.lm structure, such as changes in the coherent scattering region sizes and orientation of.crystallites along the [220] direction, which arise during the contact with citrate-containing SnCl2 solutions, have also been revealed. f.r the f.rst time, an idea of.the existence of.a relatively wide reaction zone of.an intragranular topochemical ion-exchange reaction in an aqueous solution, within which substitutional solid solutions can f.rm in micro- and nanostructured systems, has been set f.rth.

The paper presents the results of.development and investigation of.a copper miniature loop heat pipe (LHP) with acetone as a working f.uid. The device was equipped with a f.at evaporator measuring 80 × 42 × 7 mm and vapor and liquid lines with an outside diameter of.3 mm, whose lengths were 145 mm and 175 mm, respectively. The LHP was tested at heat loads f.om 5 W to 60 W, dif.erent orientations in the gravity f.eld and heat-sink temperatures f.om -40°C to +50°C. It is shown that the LHP retains its ef.iciency at all testing conditions. It is also mentioned that at a heat-sink temperature of.+50°C the device operates in the mode of.constant conductivity in the whole range of.heat loads, and in this case a minimum thermal resistance of.the “heat source-heat sink” system equal to 0.16°C/W is achieved, which is independent of.the LHP orientation in the gravity f.eld.

Quantum-chemical calculations of.polyatomic clusters simulating a boundary between grains in a surf.ce layer of.steel were carried out. Along with iron atoms the clusters contain atoms of.alloying and impurity elements which appear on the boundary due to grain boundary segregation or intergrain dif.usion. The inf.uence of.the chemical composition of.a segregate on the strength of.coupling between grains and, eventually, on steel wear resistance is analyzed. Results obtained show that the degree of.the strength of.binding of.segregated atoms with atoms of.iron in a metal surf.ce layer is an essential f.ctor inf.uencing wear resistance. It is f.und that the dependence of.energy of.binding of.atoms of.dif.erent elements with grain surf.ce on the atomic number complies with the periodic law. This f.ct can be considered as a theoretical base f.r the prognostication of.strength properties of.steel with dif.erent composition of.alloying and impurity elements. Potential energy curves corresponding to the movement of.atoms on iron surf.ce are studied. They can be usef.l f.r design of.the composition of.multi-layer coats on steel.
