Dear Editor,Metastasis is the cause of most fatalities in cancer patients and remains the phenomenon poorly understood mechanistically. Deciphering of the regulatory networks underlying the cancer cell metastasis is urgently needed. Nucleolar protein 7 (NOl7) has been reported to function as a tumor suppressor in cervical cancer.1 Our current study reveals a novel tumor-promoting capacity of NOl7 in melanoma. We first detected that NOl7 expression is upregulated in metastatic melanoma as compared with its expression at the primary site through isobaric tag for relative and absolute quantitation proteomic screening, further confirming this finding with the analysis of NOl7 protein and messenger RNA (mRNA) levels (Supplementary Fig. S1). Importantly, NOl7 expression increased with the disease progression from benign nevus to primary melanoma and further to metastatic melanoma (Fig. 1a and Supplementary Fig. S1d). Previous studies have shown that melanoma is commonly associated with the amplification of the chromosome region 6p, particularly 6p21–23, where the NOl7 gene resides, and that this region frequently undergoes heterozygous loss in cervical cancer.2 It might therefore be predicted that NOl7 exhibits a different expression pattern and plays different roles in melanoma and cervical cancer.

A catalog of gliadin alleles:Polymorphism of 20th-century common wheat germplasm

A new, improved version of the catalog of 182 alleles at the six Gli loci of common wheat(*** l.) shown in electrophoregrams of 128 standard genotypes was used for analysis of1060 cultivars and lines bred in the 20 th century. The most frequent alleles in the studied germplasm occurred with frequencies of 18%–40%, with 30 unique alleles, one in each cultivar. Extremely high genetic diversity was found(average H for the six main Gli loci was0.870 ± 0.046), nearly identical in winter(H = 0.831) and spring(H = 0.856) wheats but differing among 28 groups of cultivars released in 22 countries. Each country or region was characterized by its own specific set of the most frequent Gli alleles, and the 28 cultivar groups formed five main relationship clusters if polymorphism at the six Gli loci was considered. However, different levels of similarity between groups of cultivars were found if polymorphism of the A, B, or D genomes of common wheat was tested separately. In general, the 20 th century germplasm of common wheat was differentiated and structured by country or region and cultivar type(spring or winter). Each elemental genome(in particular, A and D) contributed to the structure of the polymorphism studied. We propose that the structure of the wheat germplasm was a result of natural selection under the ecoclimatic conditions of cultivation specific to each country or region. As many as 27.4% of cultivars studied violated the requirement of the DUS rules for uniformity, being represented by mixtures of two or more closely related genotypes. However, the composition of a cultivar as a set of related but different genotypes may contribute to its adaptivity, and thereby to the known high plasticity of common wheat.

The choice that a solid system“makes”when adopting a crystal structure(stable or metastable)is ultimately governed by the interactions between electrons forming chemical *** we analyze six prototypical binary transition metal compounds and shed light on the connection between Mott physics and the behavior of the energy as a function of the spatial arrangement of the atoms in these ***,we find that the main qualitative features of this complex behavior in the Mott phase of these systems can be traced back to the fact that the strong d-electron correlations influence substantially the charge transfer mechanism,which,in turn,controls the electrostatic *** result advances our understanding of the influence of strong correlations on the crystal structure,opens a new avenue for extending structure prediction methodologies to strongly correlated materials,and paves the way for predicting and studying metastability and polymorphism in these systems.

large-Scale Structural and Geodynamic Mapping of Platform Territories on the Example of Moscow

This paper describes principles, methods and results of a large-scale （1： 25,000） structural-geodynamic mapping of Moscow territory. Neotectonic structures of different ranks--elevations and depressions, lineaments and GDAZ （geodynamic active zones） are presented on the map. Geodynamic active zones are linear or isometric crust volumes of different scales that localized spatially, where conditions for tectonic stress concentration and relaxation, and high gradients of movements and rocks deformity are favorable by different reasons. They differ from active faults, which are rare on geodynamic-stable platform territories, by absence of noticeable displacements in rocks and a more geodynamic stability. Nevertheless, GDAZ can be hazard to engineering buildings, since these zones are favorable for developing exogenous （such as erosion, impoundment, karst, sliding, etc.） and endogenous geological processes （such as seismicity, water-fluid permeability and heat flux）. They can also become migration and localization channels of nature-anthropogenic pollution.

High-permeance crosslinked PTMSP thin-film composite membranes as supports for CO_2 selective layer formation

In the development of the composite gas separation membranes for post-combustion CO_2 capture, little attention is focused on the optimization of the membrane supports, which satisfy the conditions of this technology. The primary requirements to the membrane supports are concerned with their high CO_2 permeance. In this work, the membrane supports with desired characteristics were developed as high-permeance gas separation thin film composite(TFC) membranes with the thin defect-free layer from the crosslinked highly permeable polymer, poly[1-(trimethylsilyl)-1-propyne](PTMSP). This layer is insoluble in chloroform and can be used as a gutter layer for the further deposition of the CO_2-selective materials from the organic solvents. Crosslinking of PTMSP was performed using polyethyleneimine(PEI) and poly(ethyleneglycol) diglycidyl ether(PEGDGE) as crosslinking agents. Optimal concentrations of PEI in PTMSP and PEGDGE in methanol were selected in order to diminish the undesirable effect on the final membrane gas transport characteristics. The conditions of the kiss-coating technique for the deposition of the thin defect-free PTMSP-based layer, namely, composition of the casting solution and the speed of movement of the porous commercial microfiltration-grade support, were optimized. The procedure of post-treatment with alcohols and alcohol solutions was shown to be crucial for the improvement of gas permeance of the membranes with the crosslinked PTMSP layer having thickness ranging within 1-2.5 μm. The claimed membranes showed the following characteristics: CO_2 permeance is equal to 50—54 m^3(STP)/(m^2 h bar)(18,500—20,000 GPU), ideal CO_2/N_2 selectivity is 3.6-3.7, and their selective layers are insoluble in chloroform. Thus, the developed highpermeance TFC membranes are considered as a promising supports for further modification by enhanced CO_2 selective layer formation.

A Three-Dimensional Multi-scale Plasticity Model for Metal-Intermetallic laminate Composites Containing Phases of the l12 Structure

A three-dimensional plasticity model was developed and applied to metal-intermetallic laminate composites containingphases of the l12 structure. A multi-scale approach that combined the methods of continuum mechanics and dislocationkinetics was used. This model takes account of the different mechanisms of self-locking superdislocations, the dislocationsand the dislocation walls＇ density storage for each type of layer at the micro-scale. At the meso-scale, the solutions to thedislocation kinetics equations, in the form of stress-strain curves, were used to create the properties of a three-dimensionalrepresentative element. The numerical simulation study of the macroscopic deformation was carried out with the finiteelement method using the dynamic model of continuum mechanics, which included the classical conservation laws,constitutive equations and the equation of state. It was shown that the simulation results generated using this model were ingood agreement with the mechanical tests conducted on the single crystals of the l12 structure. The model provides anexcellent description of the high-temperature plastic strain superlocalization effect of single crystal intermetallics of thelI2 structure. This paper describes the numerical results of the study of the tension and compression tests of metal-intermetallic laminate composites containing phases of the l12 structure. The model allows the description of the dis-tribution of the accumulated plastic strain inhomogeneities and is capable of predicting the strengthening properties andplastic behaviour of the metal-intermetallic laminate composites containing phases of the l12 structure.

Disorder-enhanced nuclear spin relaxation at landau level filling factor one

The nuclear spin relaxation rate （l/T1） is measured for GaAs two-dimensional （2D） electron systems in the quantum Hall regime with an all-electrical technique for agitating and probing the nuclear spins. A ＂tilted plateau＂ feature is observed near the landau level filling factor v = 1 in 1/T1 versus v. Both the width and magnitude of the plateau increase with decreasing electron density. At low temperatures, lIT1 exhibits an Arrhenius temperature dependence within the tilted plateau regime. The extracted energy gaps are up to two orders of magnitude smaller than the corresponding charge transport gaps. These results point to a nontrivial mechanism for the disorder-enhanced nuclear spin relaxation, in which microscopic inhomogeneities play a key role for the low energy spin excitations related to skyrmions.

Carbon monoxide production using a steel mill gas in a combined chemical looping process

Up to 9% of the global CO_(2) emissions come from the iron and steel industry. Here, a combined chemical looping process to produce CO, a building block for the chemical industry, from the CO_(2) -rich blast furnace gas of a steel mill is proposed. This cyclic process can make use of abundant Fe_(3)O_(4) and CaO as solid oxygen and CO_(2) carriers at atmospheric pressure. A proof of concept was obtained in a laboratory-scale fixed bed reactor with synthetic blast furnace gas and Fe_(3)O_(4) /CaO = 0.6 kg/kg. CO production from the proposed process was investigated at both isothermal conditions(1023 K) and upon imposing a temperature program from 1023 to 1148 K. The experimental results were compared using performance indicators such as CO yield, CO space time yield, carbon recovery of the process, fuel utilisation, and solids’ *** temperature-programmed CO production resulted in a CO yield of 0.056 ± 0.002 mol per mol of synthetic blast furnace gas at an average CO space time yield of 7.6 mmol kgFe^(-1) s^(-1) over 10 cycles, carbon recovery of 48% ± 1%, fuel utilisation of 23% ± 2%, and an average calcium oxide and iron oxide utilisation of 22% ± 1% and 11% ± 1%. These experimental performance indicators for the temperature-programmed CO production were consistently better than those of the isothermal implementation mode by 20% to 35%. Over 10 consecutive process cycles, no significant losses in CO yield were observed in either implementation mode. Process simulation was carried out for 1 million metric tonnes per year of equivalent CO_(2) emissions from the blast furnace gas of a steel mill to analyse the exergy losses in both modes of operation. Comparison of the exergy efficiency of the temperature-programmed process to the isothermal process showed that the former is more efficient because of the higher CO concentration achievable,despite 20% higher exergy losses caused by heat transfer required to change temperature.

BACKGROUND In Wilson disease lack of biliary copper excretion causes hepatocellular injury by accumulation of free toxic *** overspill to serum accounts for neuronal damage as second common *** with copper chelators or zinc targets the removal of this free ***,in some patients liver disease persists for unknown reason despite normalized free *** discovery of a hyperimmunity as a contributing pathogenetic factor was discovered in this case report with implication also for other liver *** SUMMARY A 9-year-old girl was diagnosed in August 2009 by family screening of having asymptomatic Wilson disease with elevated *** at time of diagnosis antinuclear antibodies(ANA)were elevated without hyperimmunoglobulinemia(immunoglobulin G,IgG).After one year of therapy with Dpenicillamine transaminases normalized together with free serum *** continuous therapy with copper chelators free copper remained normal until today,whereas transaminases raised to alanine aminotransferase values of 571 U/l in December *** hyperimmunity a tentative steroid course on top of Dpenicillamine improved ***,hyperimmunity may have impact on liver inflammation after control of the metabolic disturbance.A retrospective cohort study confirmed the common association of elevated transaminases with ANA,but no IgG *** This hyperimmune-triggered condition may represent a new entity which per se or on top of other liver diseases induces liver inflammation responsive to steroids.
