First Insights into the Viral Communities of the Deep-sea Anoxic brines of the Red Sea

The deep-sea brines of the Red Sea include some of the most extreme and unique envi- ronments on earth. They combine high salinities with increases in temperature, heavy metals, hydrostatic pressure, and anoxic conditions, creating unique settings for thriving populations of novel extremophiles. Despite a recent increase of studies focusing on these unusual biotopes, their viral communities remain unexplored. The current survey explores four metagenomic datasets obtained from different brine-seawater interface samples, focusing specifically on the diversity of their viral communities. Data analysis confirmed that the particle-attached viral communities present in the brine-seawater interfaces were diverse and generally dominated by Candovirales, yet appearing distinct from sample to sample. With a level of caution, we report the unexpected finding of Phycodnaviridae, which infects algae and plants, and trace amounts of insect-infecting Iridoviridae. Results from Kebrit Deep revealed stratification in the viral communities present in the interface： the upper-interface was enriched with viruses associated with typical marine bacteria, while the lower-interface was enriched with haloviruses and halophages. These results provide first insights into the unexplored viral communities present in deep-sea brines of the Red Sea, represent- ing one of the first steps for ongoing and future sampling efforts and studies.

Malignant Melanocytic Matricoma and Criteria for Malignancy

Melanocytic matricoma is a very rare adnexal tumor that recapitulates the anagen hair follicle bulb. Few cases of malignant melanocytic matricoma have been reported, thus criteria for malignant potential have not been previously reviewed. We report a case of an 81 year old male that was originally diagnosed as atypical melanocytic matricoma. The site was re-excised with a small focus of residual tumor, but all margins were negative. The re-excision site healed without complication. However, two years after the original biopsy, a new 8 mm firm nodule appeared at the re-excision site, which was subsequently diagnosed as malignant melanocytic matricoma (MMM). In the following paper we will report a new case of MMM and review potential criteria that could be used in the future to establish malignant potential.

The retinoblastoma gene product(pRb)is a chromatin-associated protein that can either suppress or promote activity of key regulators of tissue-specific *** found that twelve weeks after transfection of the exogenous active(Δb/X andΔр34)or inactive(ΔS/N)forms of Rb into the 10T1/2 mesenchymal stem cells and clonal selection not a single cell line did contain exogenous Rb,despite being G-418 ***,the consequences of the transient production of exogenous Rb had different effects on the cell ***Δb/X andΔр34 cells transfected with active form of Rb showed elevated levels of inducible adipocyte differentiation(AD).On the contrary,theΔS/N cells transfected with inactive Rb mutant were insensitive to induction of AD associated with abolishing of expression of the PPARγ***,the PPARγ2 promoter in undifferentiatedΔS/N cells was hypermethylated,but all except−60 position CpG became mostly demethylated after cells exposure to *** conclude that while transient expression of inactive exogenous Rb induces long term epigenetic alterations that prevent adipogenesis,production of active exogenous Rbs results in an AD-promoting epigenetic *** results indicate that pRb is involved in the establishment of hereditary epigenetic memory at least by creating a methylation pattern of PPARγ2.

The authors study, by applying and extending the methods developed by Cazenave(2003), Dias and Figueira(2014), Dias et al.(2014), Glassey(1994–1997), Kato(1987), Ohta and Todorova(2009) and Tsutsumi(1984), the Cauchy problem for a damped coupled system of nonlinear Schrdinger equations and they obtain new results on the local and global existence of H^1-strong solutions and on their possible blowup in the supercritical case and in a special situation, in the critical or supercritical cases.

Objective:The aim of this study was to clarify the differences between the prostatic levels of chemical elements in patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia(bPH)and healthy ***:We evaluated the prostatic level of 66 chemical elements in 43 patients with bPH and 37 healthy *** were performed using five instrumental analytical ***:In the hyperplastic prostates,we have observed a significant increase in the mean level of bi,Cr,Hg,K,Sb,and Se accompanied a significant decrease in the mean level of Al,Ce,Cs,Dy,er,Gd,Ho,La,Mo,Nd,Pb,Pr,Sm,Sn,Tb,Tm,U,and *** differences were found in the mean prostatic level of other chemical elements including Ag,Al,Au,b,ba,be,br,Ca,Cd,Co,Cu,Fe,Li,Mg,Mn,Na,Nb,Ni,P,Rb,S,Sc,Si,Th,Ti,Tl,Yb,Zn,and Zr between bPH patients and healthy ***:The finding of chemical element contents and correlation between pairs of chemical element mass fractions indicates that there is a great disturbance of prostatic chemical element metabolism in bPH *** elements bi,Cr,Hg,K,Sb,and Se may be regarded as the possible tissue biomarkers of hyperplastic transformation of prostate *** data did not confirm a critical role of Cd and Pb accumulation in the pathogenesis of bPH.A potential age-related Zn,Fe,and Se deficiency in the prostate tissue has not been found as being involved in the etiology of bPH.

The effect of interaction between liquid crystal （LC） and photoalignment material on the speed of optical rewriting process is investigated. The theoretical analysis shows that a smaller frank elastic constant K22 of liquid crystal corresponds to a larger twist angle, which gives rise to a larger rewriting speed. Six different LC cells with the same boundary conditions （one substrate is covered with rubbed polyimide （PI） and the other with photo sensitive rewritable sulfuric dye I（SD1）） are tested experimentally under the same illumination intensity （450 nm, 80 mW/cm2）. The results demonstrate that with a suitable liquid crystal, the LC optical rewriting speed for e-paper application can be obviously improved. For two well known LC materials e7 （K22 is larger） and 5Cb （K22 is smaller）, they require 11 s and 6 s corresponding to change alignment direction for generating image information.

Cu nanowires covered by Ag particles is studied for potential applications in the next-generation *** date,the deformation mechanism in the Cu-Ag core-particle is not ***,molecular dynamics simulation is used to describe the Cu-Ag core-particle *** results show that the equilibrium structure of Ag particles is reconstructed,when the particle≤1.0 *** low temperature(1 K)indicate that three different deformation processes take part in the core-particle structure,depending on the size of Ag *** the particle diameter≤2.0 nm,the prevailing deformation mechanism is the emission of dislocations from the Cu *** the particle diameters ranging from 3.0 to 6.0 nm,the emission of misfit dislocations from the Ag-Cu interface is the dominant deformation *** the Ag particle≥6.0 nm,the deformation mechanism can be characterized by the slip band,consisting of the dislocations and amorphous *** elevated temperatures(2-400 K),the mechanical properties of the Ag-Cu core-shell system are nearly independent of temperature,whereas the structure with particles larger than 2.0 nm showed a strong dependence of its mechanical properties on *** on the results,the diameter-temperature plastic deformation map is proposed.

Infection with hepatotropic viruses is not limited to the liver and can lead to the development of various immunological disorders(the formation of cryoglobulins,rheumatoid factor,antinuclear antibodies,autoantibodies specific for autoimmune hepatitis and primary biliary cholangitis,and others),which can manifest as glomerulonephritis,arthritis,uveitis,vasculitis(cryoglobulinemic vasculitis,polyarteritis nodosa,Henoch-Schonlein purpura,isolated cutaneous necrotizing vasculitis),and other rheumatologic disorders,and be a trigger for the subsequent development of autoimmune hepatitis and primary biliary cholangitis.A further study of the association between autoimmune liver diseases and hepatotropic virus infection would be useful to assess the results of treatment of these associated diseases with antiviral *** relationship of these immune disorders and their manifestations with hepatotropic viruses is best studied for chronic hepatitis b and *** isolated cases of these associations are described for hepatitis *** links are least studied,and are often controversial for hepatitis e,possibly due to their relatively rare *** with uveitis,glomerulonephritis,arthritis,vasculitis,autoimmune liver diseases should be tested for biomarkers of viral hepatitis,and if present,these patients should be treated with antiviral drugs.
