We investigated herein the morphological,structural,and electrochemical features of electrodes using a sulfur(S)-super P carbon(SPC)composite(i.e.,S@SPC-73),and including few-layer graphene(FLG),multiwalled carbon nanotubes(MWCNTs),or a mixture of them within the current collector ***,we studied the effect of two different electron-conducting agents,that is,SPC and FLG,used in the slurry for the electrode *** supports have high structural crystallinity,while their morphologies are dependent on the type of material *** voltammetry(CV)shows a reversible and stable conversion reaction between Li and S with an activation process upon the first cycle leading to the decrease of cell *** activation process is verified by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS)with a decrease of the resistance after the first CV ***,CV at increasing scan rates indicates a Li+diffusion coefficient(D)ranging between 10^(−9) and 10^(−7) cm^(2)·s^(−1)in the various states of charge of the cell,and the highest D value for the electrodes using FLG as electron-conducting *** tests performed at constant current of C/5(1 C=1675 mA·g_(s)^(−1))show high initial specific capacity values,which decrease during the initial cycles due to a partial loss of the active material,and subsequently increase due to the activation *** the electrodes show a Coulombic efficiency higher than 97%upon the initial cycles,and a retention strongly dependent on the electrode ***,this study suggests a careful control of the electrode in terms of current collector design and slurry composition to achieve good electrode morphology,mechanical stability,and promising electrochemical performance in practical Li-S cells.

The widespread diffusion of renewable energy sources calls for the development of high-capacity energy storage systems as the A-CAES(Adiabatic Compressed Air Energy Storage)*** this framework,low temperature(100℃–200℃)A-CAES(LT-ACAES)systems can assume a key role,avoiding some critical issues connected to the operation of high temperature *** this paper,two different LT-ACAES configurations are *** two configurations are characterized by the same turbomachines and compressed air storage section,while differ in the TES section and its integration with the *** particular,the first configuration includes two separated cycles:the working fluid(air)cycle and the heat transfer fluid(HTF)*** heat exchangers connect the two cycles allowing to recover thermal energy from the compressors and to heat the compressed air at the turbine *** different HTFs were considered:air(case A)and thermal oil(case B).The second configuration is composed of only one cycle,where the operating fluid and the HTF are the same(air)and the TES section is composed of three different packed-bed thermal storage tanks(case C).The tanks directly recover the heat from the compressors and heat the air at each turbine inlet,avoiding the use of heat *** LT-ACAES systems were modelled and simulated using the ASPEN-Plus and the MATLAB-Simulink *** main aim of this study was the detailed analysis of the reciprocal influence between the turbomachinery and the TES system;furthermore,the performance evaluation of each plant was carried out assuming both on-design and off-design operating ***,the different configurations were compared through the main performance parameters,such as the round-trip efficiency.A total power output of around 10 MW was set,leading to a TES tank volume ranging between 500 and 700 m^(3).The second configuration with three TES systems appears to be the most promising in terms of round-trip efficiency

Blockchain is a technology that creates trust among non-trusting parties without relying on any ***,it has attracted the interest of companies operating in a multitude of ***,due to the number of different blockchain solutions that have emerged in the last few years and their rapid changes,it is challenging for such companies to orient their technological *** paper presents a comparative analysis of the key dimensions—namely,governance,maturity,support,latency,privacy,interoperability,flexibility,efficiency,resiliency,and scalability—of some of the most-used permissioned blockchain ***,we present the results of a performance evaluation considering the following frameworks:Hyperledger Fabric 2.2,Hyperledger Sawtooth 1.2,and ConsenSys Quorum 21.1(with both the GoQuorum client and the Hyperledger Besu client).The platforms were tested under similar conditions,and official releases were used,such that our findings provide a reference for companies establishing their technological orientation.

A crucial aspect of prostate cancer grading, especially in low- and intermediate-risk cancer, is the accurate identification of Gleason pattern 4 glands, which includes ill-formed or fused glands. However, there is notable inconsistency among pathologists in recognizing these glands, especially when mixed with pattern 3 glands. This inconsistency has significant implications for patient management and treatment decisions. Conversely, the recognition of glomeruloid and cribriform architecture has shown higher reproducibility. Cribriform architecture, in particular, has been linked to the worst prognosis among pattern 4 subtypes. Intraductal carcinoma of the prostate (IDC-P) is also associated with high-grade cancer and poor prognosis. Accurate identification, classification, and tumor size evaluation by pathologists are vital for determining patient treatment. This review emphasizes the importance of prostate cancer grading, highlighting challenges like distinguishing between pattern 3 and pattern 4 and the prognostic implications of cribriform architecture and intraductal proliferations. It also addresses the inherent grading limitations due to interobserver variability and explores the potential of computational pathology to enhance pathologist accuracy and consistency.

Charge transport in suspended monolayer graphene is simulated by a numerical deterministic approach,based on a discontinuous Galerkin(DG)method,for solving the semiclassical Boltzmann equation for *** the conduction and valence bands are included and the interband scatterings are taken into *** use of a Direct Simulation Monte Carlo(DSMC)approach,which properly describes the interband scatterings,is computationally very expensive because the va-lence band is very populated and a huge number of particles is *** the choice of simulating holes instead of electrons does not overcome the problem because there is a certain degree of ambiguity in the generation and recombination terms of electron-hole ***,direct solutions of the Boltzmann equations with a DSMC neglect the interband scatterings on the basis of physical *** DG approach does not suffer from the previous drawbacks and requires a reasonable computing *** the present paper the importance of the interband scatterings is accurately evaluated for several values of the Fermi energy,addressing the issue related to the validity of neglecting the generation-recombination *** is found out that the inclusion of the interband scatterings produces huge variations in the average values,as the current,with zero Fermi energy while,as expected,the effect of the interband scattering becomes negligible by increasing the absolute value of the Fermi energy.

Huntington＇s disease （HD） is the most common dominantly inherited neurodegenerative disorder, mainly characterized by the progressive striatal and cortical neurodegeneration and as- sociated motor, cognitive and behavioural disturbances （Zuccato et al., 2010）. The disease-causing mutation is an expansion of a GAG trinucleotide repeat （〉 36 repeats） encoding a polygluta- mine stretch in the N-terminal region ofhuntingtin （Htt）（Zuc- cato et al., 2010）, a ubiquitous protein whose function is still unclear （Zuccato et al., 2010）. Expansion of the polyQ stretch endows mutant Htt （mHtt） with toxic properties, and results in the development of a broad array of undesirable effects in both neuronal and non-neuronal cells （Zuccato et al., 2010）. Among all cellular dysfunctions and biochemical imbalances classically associated with HD, perturbed metabolism of （glyco） sphingolipids appears to play a crucial role in the pathogenesis of the disease. In this paper we develop a class of Implicit-Explicit Runge-Kutta schemes for solving the multi-scale semiconductor Boltzmann *** relevant scale which characterizes this kind of problems is the diffusive *** means that,in the limit of zero mean free path,the system is governed by a drift-diffusion *** aim is to develop a method which accurately works for the different regimes encountered in general semiconductor simulations:the kinetic,the intermediate and the diffusive ***,we want to overcome the restrictive time step conditions of standard time integration techniques when applied to the solution of this kind of phenomena without any deterioration in the *** a result,we obtain high order time and space discretization schemes which do not suffer from the usual parabolic stiffness in the diffusive *** show different numerical results which permit to appreciate the performances of the proposed schemes.
