Color polymorphism offers rich opportunities for studying the eco-evolutionary mechanisms that drive the adaptations of local populations to heterogeneous and changing *** explored the color morph diversity and composition in a Chrysomela lapponica leaf beetle across its entire distribution range to test the hypothesis that environmental and climatic variables shape spatiotemporal variation in the phenotypic structure of a polymorphic *** obtained information on 13617 specimens of this beetle from museums,private collections,and *** specimens(collected from 1830-2020)originated from 959 localities spanning 33°latitude,178°longitude,and 4200 m *** classified the beetles into five color morphs and searched for environmental factors that could explain the variation in the level of polymorphism(quantified by the Shannon diversity index)and in the relative frequencies of individual color *** highest level of polymorphism was found at high latitudes and *** color morphs differed in their climatic requirements;composition of colour morphs was independent of the geographic distance that separated populations but changed with collection year,longitude,mean July temperature and betweenyear temperature *** proportion of melanic beetles,in line with the thermal melanism hypothesis,increased with increasing latitude and altitude and decreased with increasing climate *** morph frequencies also declined during the past century,but only at high latitudes and altitudes where recent climate warming was especially *** observed patterns suggest that color polymorphism is especially advantageous for populations inhabiting unpredictable environments,presumably due to the different climatic requirements of coexisting color morphs.

The hydrogen-absorbing ability of a mantle mineral in its structure determines the capacity of the water reservoirs hosted by the mineral. Water reservoirs at the base of Earth’s mantle directly influence the fate of water brought down by slab subduction and the seismic heterogeneity such as ultralow-velocity zones(ULVZs)at the core-mantle boundary. Pyrite-Fe O2 Hx(0≤x ≤1) presents a possibility of such reservoirs in the deep mantle [1–3].

Update on Therapeutic Strategy in Lung Carcinoids

An estimated 25% to 30% of all neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) have their origin in the bronchial tree and into the lungs. Although lung NETs account for less than 1% of all pulmonary malignancies, the incidence of these neoplasms has risen precipitously since the mid 1970s. Currently, according to the 2004 World Health Organization categorization, these tumors are separated into 4 subtypes characterized by increasing biologic aggressiveness: low-grade typical carcinoid (TC), intermediate-grade atypical carcinoid (AC), high-grade large-cell neuroendocrine carcinoma (LCNEC) and small-cell carcinoma (SCLC). Surgery is the treatment of choice for typical and atypical carcinoid lung NETs with loco-regional disease. At diagnosis up to 64% of patients with atypical carcinoid lung NETs present with lymph node metastases, and 5-year survival ranges from 61% to 88%. In contrast, lymph node metastases are present in fewer than 15% of typical carcinoid lung NETs, and 5-year survival exceeds 90%. To date, there is no recognized standard of treatment for advanced carcinoid lung NETs. In recent years only two trials reported intriguing results regarding lung NETs: a phase 2 retrospective study of dacarbazine derivative temozolomide and the phase 3, RADIANT-2 trial in advanced NETs. Successful management requires a multidisciplinary team management. This review is restricted to typical/atypical NETs.

We present the design and experimentally demonstrate a dual-level grating coupler with subdecibel efficiency for a 220 nm thick silicon photonics waveguide which was fabricated starting from a 340 nm silicon-on-insulator *** proposed device consists of two grating levels designed with two different linear apodizations,with opposite chirping signs,and whose period is varied for each scattering unit.A coupling efficiency of-0.8 d B at1550 nm is experimentally demonstrated,which represents the highest efficiency ever reported in the telecommunications C-band in a single-layer silicon grating structure without the use of any backreflector or indexmatching material between the fiber and the grating.

目的观察同种异基因大鼠腹部异位心脏移植术后采用不同方案给予小剂量环孢素的免疫抑制效果。方法以SD大鼠为供体,Wistar大鼠为受体建立腹部异位心脏移植模型。随机分为3组,每组6只。对照组:移植术后不进行免疫抑制;小剂量环孢素短期给药组:移植术后当天起给予2mg/(kg·d)小剂量环孢素,连续10 d;小剂量环孢素长期给药组:移植术后当天起长期给予2 mg/(kg·d)小剂量环孢素,直至供心死亡或实验终止(术后40 d)。记录各组移植心脏存活时间,并行病理学检查。结果各组供心存活时间为:对照组(6.83±0.93)d;小剂量环孢素短期给药组(16.25±1.70)d;小剂量环孢素长期给药组(38.42±2.50)d。病理结果显示对照组与小剂量环孢素短期给药组移植心脏出现大量单个核炎症细胞渗出和浸润,心肌实质损伤严重,与之相比小剂量环孢素长期给药组心肌实质损伤较轻,冠状动脉内膜出现增生性病变。结论使用同种异基因SD和Wistar大鼠建立腹部异位心脏移植模型,术后短期给予2 mg/(kg·d)小剂量环孢素能在一定程度上抑制移植心脏的急性排斥反应,长期给药能够诱导移植心脏发生慢性排斥反应。

BACKGROUND Surgical resection and radiofrequency ablation(RFA)represent two possible strategy in treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)in Milan *** To evaluate short-and long-term outcome in elderly patients(>70 years)with HCC in Milan criteria,which underwent liver resection(LR)or *** The study included 594 patients with HCC in Milan criteria(429 in LR group and 165 in RFA group)managed in 10 European *** analysis was performed using the Kaplan-Meier method before and after propensity score matching(PSM)and Cox *** After PSM,we compared 136 patients in the LR group with 136 patients in the RFA *** survival at 1,3,and 5 years was 91%,80%,and 76%in the LR group and 97%,67%,and 41%in the RFA group respectively(P=0.001).Diseasefree survival at 1,3,and 5 years was 84%,60%and 44%for the LR group,and 63%,36%,and 25%for the RFA group(P=0.001).Postoperative Clavien-Dindo IIIIV complications were lower in the RFA group(1%vs 11%,P=0.001)in association with a shorter length of stay(2 d vs 7 d,P=0.001).In multivariate analysis,Model for End-stage Liver Disease(MELD)score(>10)[odds ratio(OR)=1.89],increased value of international normalized ratio(>1.3)(OR=1.60),treatment with radiofrequency(OR=1.46),and multiple nodules(OR=1.19)were independent predictors of a poor overall survival while a high MELD score(>10)(OR=1.51)and radiofrequency(OR=1.37)were independent factors associated with a higher recurrence *** Despite a longer length of stay and a higher rate of severe postoperative complications,surgery provided better results in long-term oncological outcomes as compared to ablation in elderly patients(>70 years)with HCC in Milan criteria.

In this paper we develop a general method to obtain special cases of the (asymmetric) travelling salesman problem with a fixed optimal tour. This is done by specifyingsufficient conditions on the underlying distance matrix. With the help of this generalmethod we introduce two new classes of matrices, so-called generalized Supnick and generalized Kalmanson matrices. It is shown that thereby we generalize the well-knownSupnick and Kalmanson conditions for symmetric and, in particular, asymmetric caseswhich are solved by the tours and , ***, we show that asymmetric generalized Kalmanson matrices play a certain rolefor the asymmetric master tour problem.
