The risk of liver injury in patients with coronavirus disease 2019(COvID-19)infection is quite ***,liver function test abnormalities are still detected in COvID-19 patients despite the development of antivirals and the availability of several types of *** editorial describes liver involvement during COvID-19 infection in patients with or without preexisting liver injury,such as chronic liver disease,to elucidate COvID-19-induced liver function abnormalities and their severity,pathophysiology,clinical manifestations,and clinical and laboratory *** also discuss the effect of vaccination against COvID-19 to better understand host factors,such as age,gender,and race,on the incidence and severity of liver dysfunction at initial presentation and during the ***,we summarize the results of relevant meta-analyses published to date and highlight the importance of adequate liver function monitoring in the current climate of the overwhelming COvID-19 pandemic.

Anti-inflammatory effects of Lacto-Wolfberry in a mouse model of experimental colitis

AIM: To investigate the anti-inflammatory properties of Lacto-Wolfberry (LWB), bothin vitro and using a mouse model of experimental colitis. METHODS: The effects of LWB on lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced reactive oxygen species (ROS) and interleukin (IL)-6 secretion were assessed in a murine macrophage cell line. in vitro assessment also included characterizing the effects of LWB on the activation of NF-E2 related 2 pathway and inhibition of tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α)-induced nuclear factor-κB (NFκB) activation, utilizing reporter cell lines. Following the in vitro assessment, the anti-inflammatory efficacy of an oral intervention with LWB was tested in vivo using a preclinical model of intestinal inflammation. Multiple outcomes including body weight, intestinal histology, colonic cytokine levels and anti-oxidative measures were ***: LWB reduced the LPS-mediated inductionof ROS production [+LPS vs 1% LWB + LPS, 1590 ± 188.5 relative luminescence units (RLU) vs 389 ± 5.9 RLU, P ve than wolfberry alone in reducing LPS-induced IL-6 secretion in vitro (wolfberry vs 0.5% LWB, 15% ± 7.8% vs 64% ± 5%, P via the anti-oxidant response element activation (wolfberry vs LWB, 73% ± 6.9% vs 148% ± 28.3%, P vation of the NF-κB pathway (milk vs LWB, 10% ± 6.7% vs 35% ± 3.3%, P vs +LWB, 5.39 ± 0.61 vs 3.66 ± 0.59, P = 0.0445) and histological scores (-LWB vs +LWB, 5.44 ± 0.32 vs 3.66 ± 0.59, P = 0.0087) in colitic mice. The progress in treatment against hepatitis B virus(HBv)with the development of effective and well tolerated nucleotide analogues(NAs)has improved the outcome of patients with HBv decompensated cirrhosis and has prevented post-transplant HBv *** review summarizes updated issues related to the management of patients with HBv infection before and after liver transplantation(LT).A literature search using the PubMed/Medline databases and consensus documents was ***-transplant therapy has been initially based on lamivudine,but entecavir and tenofovir represent the currently recommended first-line NAs for the treatment of patients with HBv decompensated *** LT,the combination of HBv immunoglobulin(HBIG)and NA is considered as the standard of care for prophylaxis against HBv *** combination of HBIG and lamivudine is related to higher rates of HBv recurrence,compared to the HBIG and entecavir or tenofovir *** HBIG-free prophylactic regimens,entecavir and tenofovir should be the first-line *** choice of treatment for HBv recurrence depends on prior prophylactic therapy,but entecavir and tenofovir seem to be the most attractive ***,liver grafts from hepatitis B core antibody(anti-HBc)positive donors can be safely used in hepatitis B surface antigen negative,preferentially anti-HBc/anti-hepatitis B surface antibody positive recipients.

Endothelial cell dysfunction occurs in a variety of acute and chronic pulmonary diseases including pulmonary hypertension,viral and bacterial pneumonia,bronchopulmonary dysplasia,and congenital lung diseases such as alveolar capillary dysplasia with misalignment of pulmonary veins(ACDMPv).To correct endothelial dysfunction,there is a critical need for the development of nanoparticle systems that can deliver drugs and nucleic acids to endothelial cells with high efficiency and *** several nanoparticle delivery systems targeting endothelial cells have been recently developed,none of them are specific to lung endothelial cells without targeting other organs in the *** the present study,we successfully solved this problem by developing non-toxic poly(β-amino)ester(PBAE)nanoparticles with specific structure design and fluorinated modification for high efficiency and specific delivery of nucleic acids to the pulmonary endothelial *** intravenous administration,the PBAE nanoparticles were capable of delivering non-integrating DNA plasmids to lung microvascular endothelial cells but not to other lung cell *** whole body imaging and flow cytometry demonstrated that DNA plasmid were functional in the lung endothelial cells but not in endothelial cells of other *** of PBAE was required for lung endothelial cell-specific *** analysis and liver and kidney metabolic panels demonstrated the lack of toxicity in experimental ***,fluorinated PBAE nanoparticles can be an ideal vehicle for gene therapy targeting lung microvascular endothelium in pulmonary vascular disorders.

Hepatitis C is a liver disease that is transmitted through contact with the blood of an infected person. An estimated 150 million individuals worldwide have been chronically infected with the hepatitis C virus(HCv). Hepatitis C shows significant genetic variation in the global population, due to the high rate of viral RNA mutation. There are six variants of the virus(HCv genotypes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6), with 15 recorded subtypes that vary in prevalence across different regions of the world. A variety of devices are used to diagnose hepatitis C, including HCv antibody test, HCv viral load test, HCv genotype test and liver biopsy. Rapid, inexpensive, sensitive, and robust analytical devices are therefore essential for effective diagnosis and monitoring of disease treatment. This review provides an overview of current electrochemical immunosensor and genosensortechnologies employed in HCv *** are a limited number of publications showing electrochemical biosensors being used for the detection of *** to their simplicity,specificity,and reliability,electrochemical biosensor devices have potential clinical applications in several viral infections.

AIM: To construct a recombinant vector which can express Mr 26 000 outer membrane protein (OMP) from Helicobacter pylori (Hp), and to obtain the vaccine protecting against Hp infection and a diagnostic reagent kit quickly detecting Hp ***: The gene encoding the structural Mr 26000 outermembrane protein of Hp was amplified from Hpchromosomal DNA by PCR, and inserted in the prokaryoticexpression vector pET32a ( + ), which was transformed intothe Topl0 E. coli strain. Recombinant vector was selected,identified and transformed into BL-21(DE3) E. coli *** recombinant fusion proteins were expressed. Theantigenicity of recombinant protein was studied by ELISA orimmunoblotting and immunized Balb/c ***: The gene of Mr 26 000 OMP was amplified to be594 base pairs, 1.1% of the cloned genes was mutated and1.51% of amino acid residues was changed, but there washomogeneity between them. The recombinant fusion proteinencoded objective polypeptides of 198 amino acid residues,corresponding to calculated molecular masses of Mr *** level of soluble expression products was about 38.96 %of the total cell protein. After purification by Ni-NTA agaroseresin columniation, the purity of objective protein becameabout 90 %. The EESA results showed that recombinantfusion protein could be recognized by patient serum infectedwith Hp and rabbit serum immunized with the recombinantprotein. Furthermore, Balb/ c mice immunized with therecombinant proteln were protected against H. ***: Mr 26 000 OMP may be a candidate vaccinepreventing Hp infection.
