BACKGROUND Violence against healthcare workers(HCWs)in the Caribbean continues to prevail yet remains *** aim is to determine the cause,traits,and consequences of violence on HCWs in the *** To determine the cause,traits,and consequences of violence on HCWs in the *** This research adopted an online cross-sectional survey approach,spanning over eight weeks(between June 6th and August 9th,2022).The survey was generated using Research Electronic Data Capture forms and followed a snowballing strategy to contact individuals using emails,social media,text messages,*** regression analysis was performed to evaluate the variables that influence violence,including gender,age,years of experience,institution type,and night shift *** The survey was completed by 225 *** comprised 61%.Over 51%of respondents belonged to the 21 to 35 age ***(n=61),Haiti(n=50),and Grenada(n=31)had the most *** HCWs(49%)worked for government academic institutions,followed by community hospitals(23%).Medical students(32%),followed by attending physicians(22%),and others(16%)comprised the most common cadre of *** 39%of the participants reported experiencing violence themselves,and 18%reported violence against colleague(s).Verbal violence(48%),emotional abuse(24%),and physical misconduct(14%)were the most common types of *** 63%of respondents identified patients or their relatives as the most frequent *** logistic regression analyses demonstrated that female gender(OR=2.08;95%CI:1.16-3.76,P=0.014)and higher frequency of night shifts(OR=2.22;95%CI:1.08-4.58,P=0.030)were associated with significantly higher odds of experiencing *** than 50%of HCWs felt less motivated and had decreased job satisfaction post-violent *** A large proportion of HCWS in the Caribbean are exposed to violence,yet the phenomenon remains *** a result,HCWs’job s

Both unit and integration testing are incredibly crucial for almost any software application because each of them operates a distinct process to examine the *** to resource constraints,when software is subjected to modifications,the drastic increase in the count of test cases forces the testers to opt for a test optimization *** such strategy is test case prioritization(TCP).Existing works have propounded various methodologies that re-order the system-level test cases intending to boost either the fault detection capabilities or the coverage efficacy at the ***,singularity in objective functions and the lack of dissimilitude among the re-ordered test sequences have degraded the cogency of their *** such gaps and scenarios when the meteoric and continuous updations in the software make the intensive unit and integration testing process more fragile,this study has introduced a memetics-inspired methodology for *** proposed structure is first embedded with diverse parameters,and then traditional steps of the shuffled-frog-leaping approach(SFLA)are followed to prioritize the test cases at unit and integration *** 5 standard test functions,a comparative analysis is conducted between the established algorithms and the proposed approach,where the latter enhances the coverage rate and fault detection of re-ordered test *** results related to the mean average percentage of fault detection(APFD)confirmed that the proposed approach exceeds the memetic,basic multi-walk,PSO,and optimized multi-walk by 21.7%,13.99%,12.24%,and 11.51%,respectively.

The incessant pressure of energy requirements by the growing global populace has led to the exploration of unconventional methods to produce renewable and sustainable *** these,biodiesel is most suited to the present needs of eco-friendly standards to keep the atmosphere free from residual *** fuel-modification methods were developed over a couple of decades to make biodiesel suitable for diesel *** the present research,Jatropha curcas biodiesel and waste-cooking-oil(WCO)biodiesel were used to craft a unique binary blend to obtain desirable fuel properties and operational suitability for the diesel *** blend with 80% WCO biodiesel and 20% *** biodiesel,which had the most suitable fuel properties,was tested on a four-stroke single-cylinder vertical diesel *** emissions and operational parameters were analysed and compared with *** results of the study indicated that engine emissions for binary blend,carbon monoxide and unburnt hydrocarbon emissions were highly reduced,and carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxide(NO_(x))emissions increased relative to *** full load,NO_(x) emission was found to be 51.32% higher than that from diesel and 3.8% lower than that from WCO *** performance showed that for the binary blend,at full load,the brake-specific fuel consumption was 396.82 g/kWh,which was 15.26% higher,and the brake thermal efficiency was 22.7%,which was 2.74% lower than regular diesel *** present study suggests that the binary blend of *** biodiesel and WCO biodiesel can be a promising approach towards advancements in the fuel properties of biodiesels.

In-plane compression experiments are performed on 3D fine weave pierced C/C composite at a wide strain rate range of 0.0001/s-1000/*** in-plane compressive failure mechanism of the composite at quasi-static and high strain rates is analyzed by a scanning electron *** results show that the in-plane compressive modulus,maximum stress and the corresponding strain increase with increasing strain *** quasi-static in-plane compressive failure mode of the 3D fine weave pierced C/C composite is characterized by the shear failure at the angle of 45°and the local buckling of the^direction fiber *** comparison,the high strain rate in-plane compression failure mode of the composite is characterized by the compressive fracture of the interlaminar matrix and the progressive compression failure of the a>direction fiber bundles.A strain-rate-dependent in-plane compressive constitutive model is proposed to predict the dynamic in-plane compressive response of the *** proposed constitutive model is verified by experimental data.

High C:N ratio in the wastewater limits biological nitrogen removal(BNR),especially in anammox based *** present study attempts to improve the COD tolerance of the BNR process by associating methanogens with nitrogen removing bacterial(NRB)*** new microbial system coined as‘Methammox’,was investigated for simultaneous removal of COD(C)and ammonia(N)at C:N ratio 1.5:1 to 14:*** ammonia removal rate(11.5 mg N/g VSS/d)and the COD removal rates(70.6 mg O/g VSS/d)of Methammox was close to that of the NRB(11.1 mg N/g VSS/d)and the methanogenic populations(77.9 mg O/g VSS/d),*** activities established that these two populations existed simultaneously and independently in‘Methammox’.Further studies in biofilm reactor fetched a balanced COD and ammonia removal(55%–60%)at a low C:N ratio(£2:1)and high C:N ratio(≥9:1).The population abundance of methanogens was reasonably constant,but the nitrogen removal shifted from mixotrophy to heterotrophy as the C:N ratio shifted from low(C:N£2:1)to high(C:N≥9:1).The reduced autotrophic NRB(ammonia-and nitrite-oxidizing bacteria and Anammox)population at a high C:N ratio was compensated by the fermentative group that could carry out denitrification *** functional plasticity of the Methammox system to adjust to a broad C:N ratio opens new frontiers in biological nitrogen removal of high COD containing wastewaters.

This paper proposes a modified grey wolf optimiser-based adaptive super-twisting sliding mode control algorithm for the trajectory tracking and balancing of the rotary inverted pendulum *** super-twisting sliding mode algorithm severely alleviates the chattering present in the classical sliding mode *** provides robustness against model uncertainties and external disturbances with the knowledge of the upper bounds of the uncertainties and *** gains of the super-twisting sliding mode algorithm are selected through adaptive *** of the adaption law are tuned using a modified grey wolf optimisation algorithm,a meta-heuristic optimisation *** stability analysis is carried out to analyse the overall control system *** performance of the proposed control algorithm is compared with two other sliding mode control strategies present in the literature,therein showing better performance of the proposed control scheme.

The effects of the stabilizing agent on the structural and luminescence properties of cadmium sulfide(CdS)nanocrystals have been *** were prepared by chemical precipitation method using sodium hexametaphosphate(SHMP)and polyvinyl pyrrolidone(PVP).The structural and optical properties have been studied by X-ray diffraction(XRD),ultraviolet-visible(UV-Vis)absorption,photoluminescence(PL)and Fourier transform infrared(FTIR)*** patterns confirm the presence of cubic zinc blend crystal structure with space group *** results show the variation in crystallite size with change in *** shift in absorption edge as compared to bulk CdS is *** results represent broad and very intense red emission with smaller particle size due to modification of surface emitting states with surfactant.
