AIM To prospectively evaluate the performance of Dopplerultrasonography(US) for the detection of transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt(TIPS) dysfunction within a multicenter cohort of cirrhotic *** This study was conducted in 10 french teaching hospitals. After TIPS insertion, angiography and liver Doppler-US were carried out every six months to detect dysfunction(defined by a portosystemic gradient ≥ 12 mm Hg and/or a stent stenosis ≥ 50%). The association between ultrasonographic signs and dysfunction was studied by logistic random-effects models, and the diagnostic performance of each Doppler criterion was estimated by the bootstrap method. This study was approved by the ethics committee of *** Two hundred and eighteen pairs of examinations performed on 87 cirrhotic patients were analyzed. Variables significantly associated with dysfunction were: The speed of flow in the portal vein(P = 0.008), the reversal of flow in the right(P = 0.038) and left(P = 0.049) portal branch, the loss of modulation of portal flow by the right atrium(P = 0.0005), ascites(P = 0.001) and the overall impression of the operator(P = 0.0001). The diagnostic performances of these variables were low; sensitivity was led out from Doppler-US. CONCLUSION The performance of Doppler-US for the detection of TIPS dysfunction is poor compared to angiography. New tools are needed to improve diagnosis of TIPS dysfunction.

BACKGROUND The association between the intestinal microbiota and psychiatric disorders is becoming increasingly *** gut microbiota contributes to colorectal carcinogenesis(CRC),as demonstrated with colibactin-producing Escherichia coli(CoPEC).AIM To evaluate the association between CoPEC prevalence and anxiety-and depressive-like behaviors with both preclinical and clinical *** Patients followed after a CRC surgery and for whom the prevalence of CoPEC has been investigated underwent a psychiatric *** were compared according to the CoPEC *** parallel C57BL6/J wild type mice and mice with a CRC susceptibility were chronically infected with a CoPEC *** behavior was assessed using the Elevated Plus Maze test,the Forced Swimming Test and the Behavior recognition system PhenoTyper®.RESULTS In a limited cohort,all patients with CoPEC colonization presented with psychiatric disorders several years before cancer diagnosis,whereas only one patient(17%)without CoPEC *** result was confirmed in C57BL6/J wildtype mice and in a CRC susceptibility mouse model(adenomatous polyposis colimultiple intestinal neoplasia/+).Mice exhibited a significant increase in anxiety-and depressive-like behaviors after chronic infection with a CoPEC *** This finding provides the first evidence that CoPEC infection can induce microbiota-gut-brain axis disturbances in addition to its procarcinogenic properties.

Simulation and Visualisation of Functional Landscapes:Effects of the Water Resource Competition Between Plants

Vegetation ecosystem simulation and visualisation are challenging topics involving multidisciplinary aspects. In this paper, we present a new generic frame for the simulation of natural phenomena through manageable and interacting models. It focuses on the functional growth of large vegetal ecosystems, showing coherence for scales ranging from the individual plant to communities and with a particular attention to the effects of water resource competition between plants. The proposed approach is based on a model of plant growth in interaction with the environmental conditions. These are deduced from the climatic data （light, temperature, rainfall） and a model of soil hydrological budget. A set of layers is used to store the water resources and to build the interfaces between the environmental data and landscape components： temperature, rain, light, altitude, lakes, plant positions, biomass, cycles, etc. At the plant level, the simulation is performed for each individual by a structural-functional growth model, interacting with the plant＇s environment. Temperature is spatialised, changing according to altitude, and thus locally controls plant growth speed. The competition for water is based on a soil hydrological model taking into account rainfalls, water runoff, absorption, diffusion, percolation in soil. So far, the incoming light radiation is not studied in detail and is supposed constant. However, competition for light between plants is directly taken into account in the plant growth model. In our implementation, we propose a simple architecture for such a simulator and a simulation scheme to synchronise the water resource updating （on a temporal basis） and the plant growth cycles （determined by the sum of daily temperatures）. The visualisation techniques are based on sets of layers, allowing both morphological and functional landscape views and providing interesting tools for ecosystem management. Out-of-plane (SH) soil-structure interaction： a shear wall with rigid and flexible ring foundation

Soil-structure interaction （SSI） of a building and shear wall above a foundation in an elastic half-space has long been an important research subject for earthquake engineers and strong-motion seismologists. Numerous papers have been published since the early 1970s; however, very few of these papers have analytic closed-form solu- tions available. The soil-structure interaction problem is one of the most classic problems connecting the two dis- ciplines of earthquake engineering and civil engineering. The interaction effect represents the mechanism of energy transfer and dissipation among the elements of the dynamic system, namely the soil subgrade, foundation, and super- structure. This interaction effect is important across many structure, foundation, and subgrade types but is most pro- nounced when a rigid superstructure is founded on a rela- tively soft lower foundation and subgrade. This effect may only be ignored when the subgrade is much harder than a flexible superstructure： for instance a flexible moment frame superstructure founded on a thin compacted soil layer on top of very stiff bedrock below. This paper will study the interaction effect of the subgrade and the super- structure. The analytical solution of the interaction of a shear wall, flexible-rigid foundation, and an elastic half- space is derived for incident SH waves with various angles of incidence. It found that the flexible ring （soft layer） cannot be used as an isolation mechanism to decouple asuperstructure from its substructure resting on a shaking half-space.

Co-evolution of host-parasitoid interactions is determined by the costs of host resistance, which received empirical evidence, and the costs ofparasitoid virulence, which have been mostly hypothesized. Asobara tabida is a parasitoid, which mainly parasitizes Drosophila melanogaster and D. subobscura, the first species being able to resist to the parasitoid development while the second species is not. To parasitize resistant hosts, including D. melanogaster, A. tabida develops sticky eggs, which prevent encapsulation, but this virulence mechanism may be costly. Interindividual and interpopulation variation in the proportion of sticky eggs respectively allowed us to （i） artificially select and compare life-history traits of a virulent and a nonvirulent laboratory strain, and （ii） compare a virulent and a nonvirulent field strain, to investigate the hypothetical costs of virulence. We observed strong differences between the 2 laboratory strains. The nonvirulent strain invested fewer resources in reproduction and walked less than the virulent one but lived longer. Concerning the field strains, we observed that the nonvirulent strain had larger wings while the virulent one walked more and faster. All together, our results suggest that virulence may not always be costly, but rather that different life histories associated with different levels of virulence may coexist at both intra- and interDoDulation levels.

LiDAR Is Effective in Characterizing Vine Growth and Detecting Associated Genetic Loci

The strong societal demand to reduce pesticide use and adaptation to climate change challenges the capacities of phenotyping new varieties in the ***-throughput phenotyping is a way to obtain meaningful and reliable information on hundreds of genotypes in a limited *** evaluated traits related to growth in 209 genotypes from an interspecific grapevine biparental cross,between IJ119,a local genitor,and Divona,both in summer and in winter,using several methods:fresh pruning wood weight,exposed leaf area calculated from digital images,leaf chlorophyll concentration,and LiDAR-derived apparent *** high-density genetic information obtained by the genotyping by sequencing technology(GBS),we detected 6 regions of the grapevine genome[quantitative trait loci(QTL)]associated with the variations of the traits in the *** detection of statistically significant QTLs,as well as correlations(R^(2))with traditional methods above 0.46,shows that LiDAR technology is effective in characterizing the growth features of the *** calculated with LiDAR-derived total canopy and pruning wood volumes were high,above 0.66,and stable between growing *** variables provided genetic models explaining up to 47%of the phenotypic variance,which were better than models obtained with the exposed leaf area estimated from images and the destructive pruning weight *** results highlight the relevance of LiDAR-derived traits for characterizing genetically induced differences in grapevine growth and open new perspectives for high-throughput phenotyping of grapevines in the vineyard.
