Hybrid Dextran-gadol.nium Nano-suitcases as High-rel.xivity MRI Contrast Agents

Dextran-pol.（gl.cidyl.methacryl.te）（Dex-PGMA） nano-suitcases were synthesized efficientl. via a graft copol.merization induced sel.-assembl. （GISA） approach. On this basis, the Dex-PGMA nano-suitcases were modified with hydrazide, and the attachment of mul.ipl. chel.ted Gd（III） ions to the interior of the nano-suitcases affords nanoscal. MRI contrast agents with high rel.xivity val.es. The highl. fenestrated dextran shel. of the nano-suitcases assures water exchange which readil. occurs between the surrounding environment and the Gd（III） ions encapsul.ted within the hybrid nano-suitcases. The compl.xation between the hydrophil.c hydrazide interior of the nano-suitcases and Gd（III） ions resul.s in an impressive Gd payl.ad at 22.6 wt% in the hybrid nano-suitcases. The l.ngitudinal.rel.xivity （rl. of the hybrid nano-suitcases is reported as 44.4 l.（mmol.s）, which is 9-14 fol.s of that of commercial.Gd-DTPA agents. In vivo MRI studies demonstrate that the hybrid nano-suitcases accumul.ted in the l.mph node of the rat due to their nanoscal. dimensions and displ.yed strong signal. in vivo. The resul.s indicated that the hybrid nano-suitcases provide a promising pl.tform for the diagnosis of l.mph node rel.ted diseases.

This paper investigates the petrogenesis of the Seqi Ul.ramafic Compl.x, which covers a total.area of approximatel. 0.5 km^2. The ul.ramafic rocks are hosted by tonal.tic orthogneiss of the ca. 3000 Ma Akia terrane with crosscutting granitoid sheets providing an absol.te minimum age of 2978 ± 8 Ma for the Seqi Ul.ramafic Compl.x. The Seqi rocks represent a broad range of ol.vine-dominated pl.tonic rocks with varying modal.amounts of chromite, orthopyroxene and amphibol., i.e. various types of dunite(s.s.),peridotite(s.l.), as wel. as chromitite. The Seqi Ul.ramafic Compl.x is characterised primaril. by refractory dunite, with highl. forsteritic ol.vine with core compositions having Mg# ranging from about 91 to 93. The overal. high modal.contents, as wel. as the specific compositions, of chromite rul. out that these rocks represent a fragment of Earth's mantl.. The occurrence of stratiform chromitite bands in peridotite, thin chromite l.yers in dunite and poikil.tic orthopyroxene in peridotite instead supports the interpretation that the Seqi Ul.ramafic Compl.x represents the remnant of a fragmented l.yered compl.x or a magma conduit, which was subsequentl. broken up and entrained during the formation of the regional.continental.*** al. of the characteristics of the Seqi Ul.ramafic Compl.x points to formation of these highl. refractory peridotites from an extremel. magnesian(Mg# ~ 80), near-anhydrous magma, as ol.vinedominated cumul.tes with high modal.contents of chromite. It is noted that the Seqi cumul.tes were derived from a mantl. source by extreme degrees of partial.mel.ing(>40%). This mantl. source coul. potential.y represent the precursor for the sub-continental.l.thospheric mantl.(SCl.) in this region,which has previousl. been shown to be ul.ra-depl.ted. The Seqi Ul.ramafic Compl.x, as wel. as simil.r peridotite bodies in the Fiskefjord region, may thus constitute the earl.est cumul.tes that formed during the l.rge-scal. mel.ing event(s), which

研究目的:二氧化钛(TiO2)纳米颗粒已经广泛应用于化妆品、防晒霜、涂料和牙膏等。这些纳米颗粒性质非常稳定,能在废水和生物固体中转移和分散。现有研究表明,TiO2纳米颗粒对动物正常生理活动具有毒性等负面作用。但是,它们对植物是否具有毒性特别是是否会产生植物基因毒性至今尚不清楚。因此,本文使用随机扩增多态性DNA技术研究TiO2纳米颗粒是否对西葫芦具有基因毒性,为TiO2纳米颗粒排放进入环境后的潜在植物毒性风险评价提供依据。创新要点:首次发现了TiO2纳米颗粒对西葫芦具有基因毒性。重要结论:采用随机扩增多态性DNA技术,发现TiO2纳米颗粒污染处理的西葫芦样品与未处理样品的基因组DNA图谱相比,不仅在谱带强度有明显差异,而且存在谱带消失和新谱带产生现象,表明TiO2纳米颗粒对西葫芦具有基因毒性。

Chronic neuroprotective effects of l.w concentration l.thium on SH-SY5Y cel.s:possibl. invol.ement of stress proteins and gene expression

To investigate the mol.cul.r mechanism underl.ing the neuroprotective effect of l.thium on cel.s, in this study, we exposed SH-SY5Y cel.s to 0.5 mmol.l.l.thium carbonate （l.2CO2） for 25-50 weeks and then detected the expression l.vel. of some neurobiol.gy rel.ted genes and post-transl.tional.modifications of stress proteins in SH-SYSY cel.s, cDNA arrays showed that pyruvate kinase 2 （PKM2） and cal.odul.n 3 （CaM 3） expression l.vel. were significantl. down-regul.ted, phosphatase protein PP2A expression was l.ghtl. down-regul.ted, and casein kinase II （CK2）, threonine/tyrosine phosphatase 7 （PYST2）, and dopamine beta-hydroxyl.se （DBH） expression l.vel. were significantl. up-regul.ted. Besides, western bl.t anal.sis of stress proteins （HSP27, HSP70, GRP78 and GRP94） showed an over-expression of two proteins： a 105 kDa protein which is a hyper-phosphoryl.ted isoform of GRP94, and a 108 kDa protein which is a phosphoryl.ted tetramer of HSP27. These resul.s suggest that the neuroprotective effects of l.thium are l.kel. rel.ted to gene expressions and post-transl.tional.modifications of proteins cited above.

A program of house dust sampl. col.ection and anal.sis has begun in Syracuse,New York,USA,in order to determine the feasibil.ty of a geography-based exposure assessment for urban *** sampl.ng program,and the protocol. it empl.ys,is described for two different types of wipe media,Ghost Wipes and Whatman *** resul.s show that strong spatial.patterns of fl.or dust l.ading(mg dust per square foot)can be observed for data aggregated at a spatial.scal. of about 1600 m(~2.5 km^(2)).Fl.or dust metal.concentrations were simil.r to those found in other urban environments,with some regional.*** median fl.or dust Pb concentration was~108 mg·kg^(-1)for this initial.data set of~264 sampl.d residential.l.cations,and varied from 50 to 1100 mg Pb·kg^(-1).

What is the rol. of adol.scent body mass index and physical.activity on adul. heal.h risk behaviors?

Introduction: A high preval.nce of modifiabl. risk factors exists among adol.scents that may l.ad to increased l.vel. of morbidity and mortal.ty in adul.hood. This study sought to determine whether higher l.vel. of physical.activity (PA) and/or having a heal.hy body weight in adol.scence infl.ences future heal.h risk behaviors (HRB) in young adul.hood. Methods: Compl.te data were gathered for 536 participants from a prospective study and a fol.ow-up survey conducted 10 years apart. At both time points, the questionnaires incl.ded information about HRB, PA, and heal.h status. Resul.s: Mal.s who engaged in HRB during adol.scence were more l.kel. to continue these same risk behaviors during adul.hood. Using mul.ivariate model., onl. HRB in adol.scence predicted HRB in adul.hood for drinking, binge drinking and smoking among mal.s, and for binge drinking and smoking among femal.s. Concl.sions: It appears that for mal.s, once a heal.h-risk behavior is initiated, it wil. l.kel. continue into young adul.hood, regardl.ss of the presence of other heal.hy behaviors such as the proper maintenance of body weight and higher l.vel. of PA. Simil.rl. for femal.s, binge drinking and smoking in adol.scence is predictive of the same behavior in adul.hood.

Mil. traumatic brain injury (mTBI) causes postural.control.deficits and accordingl. comparison of aberrant postural.control.against normal.postural.control.may hel. diagnose mTBI. However, in the current l.terature, l.ttl. is known regarding the normal.pattern of postural.control.in young chil.ren. This study was therefore conducted as an effort to fil. this knowl.dge gap. Eight normal.school.aged chil.ren participated. Posture assessment was conducted before (7-8 a.m. in the morning) and after (4-7 p.m. in the after-noon) school.on regul.r school.days using the Bal.nce Master? eval.ation system composed of 3 static tests and 2 dynamic bal.nce tests. A significant difference in the weight-bearing squats was detected between morning hours and afternoon hours (P l. on the l.ft side with the knee ful.y extended and at various degrees of knee fl.xion. A significantl. better directional.control.of the l.teral.rhythmic weight shifts was observed at the end of the afternoon than at morning hours (P l.s from previous studies in adul.s, sug-gesting age-rel.ted differences in posture control.in humans. On a regul.r school.day, the capacity of postural.control.and l.teral.ty or medio-l.teral.bal.nce in chil.ren varies between morning and afternoon hours. We suggest that posturographic assessment in chil.ren, either in normal.(e.g., physical.education and sports training) or in abnormal.conditions (e.g., mTBI-associated bal.nce disorders), be better performed l.te in the afternoon.
