Surgical site infections(SSI)following total joint arthroplasty pose a significant concern for both providers and patients across the ***,administration of antimicrobial antibiotic prophylaxis is used throughout the world to reduce the incidence of ***,the correct dosage and frequency of administration remains *** this editorial,we emphasized the determination of the effect of administration of weight-adjusted antimicrobial antibiotic prophylaxis regime on the incidence of SSI and postoperative dosage reduction compared to the conventionally used regime during total joint *** results demonstrated similar efficacy between both regimes with respect to the incidence of *** addition,weight-adjustment led to reduced postoperative dosage and has the potential to reduce chances of achieving lower therapeutic concentration,drug resistance,drug toxicity,and costs.

Knees are the most commonly impacted weight-bearing joints in osteoarthritis(OA),affecting millions of people *** increasing life spans and obesity rates,the incidence of knee OA will further increase,leading to a significant increase in the economic *** treatment modalities utilized to manage knee OA have *** the last decade,the role of various autologous peripheral blood-derived orthobiologics(APBOs)for the treatment of knee OA has been extensively *** editorial provided an overview and focused on defining and shedding light on the current state of evidence based on the most recent published clinical studies concerning the use of APBO for the management of knee *** numerous studies have demonstrated promising results for these preparations,a notable gap exists in the comparative analysis of these diverse *** absence of head-to-head studies poses a considerable challenge for physicians/surgeons in determining the optimal preparation for managing knee OA and achieving sustained longterm ***,more adequately powered,multicenter,prospective,doubleblind,randomized controlled trials with longer follow-ups are needed to establish the long-term efficacy and to aid physicians/surgeons in determining the optimal APBO for the management of knee OA.

Nowadays,due to the increase in information resources,the number of parameters and complexity of feature vectors *** offermore practical solutions instead of exact solutions for the solution of this *** Emperor PenguinOptimizer(EPO)is one of the highest performing meta-heuristic algorithms of recent times that imposed the gathering behavior of emperor *** shows the superiority of its performance over a wide range of optimization problems thanks to its equal chance to each penguin and its fast convergence *** traditional EPO overcomes the optimization problems in continuous search space,many problems today shift to the binary search ***,in this study,using the power of traditional EPO,binary EPO(BEPO)is presented for the effective solution of binary-nature *** algorithm uses binary search space instead of searching solutions like conventional EPO algorithm in continuous search *** this purpose,the sigmoidal functions are preferred in determining the emperor *** addition,the boundaries of the search space remain constant by choosing binary ***’s performance is evaluated over twenty-nine benchmarking *** evaluations are made to reveal the superiority of the BEPO *** addition,the performance of the BEPO algorithm was evaluated for the binary feature selection *** experimental results reveal that the BEPO algorithm outperforms the existing binary meta-heuristic algorithms in both tasks.

AIM: To present the results of total hip arthroplasty(THA) for post tubercular arthritis of the hip ***: Sixty-five patients(45 male, 20 female) with previously treated tuberculosis of the hip joint underwent cementless THA for post tubercular arthritis. The average age at the time of THA was 48 years(range 29 to 65 years). Erythrocyte sedimentation rate, C reactive protein, chest X-ray and contrast enhanced magnetic resonance imaging were done preoperatively to confirm resolution of the disease and to rule out any residual disease. Intra-operative samples were taken for microbiological examination, polymerase chain reaction(PCR) and histological examination. Patients were started on anti-tubercular drugs one week before the operation and continued for 6 mo post operatively. The patients were followed up clinically using the Harris hip score as well as radiologically for any loosening of the implants, osteolysis and any recurrence of tuberculosis. Any complications especially the recurrence of the infection was also ***: The mean interval from completion of antitubercular therapy for tuberculosis to surgery was 4.2 years(range, 2-6 years). Preoperatively, 17 patients had ankylosis whereas 48 patients had functional but painful range of motion. The mean surgical time was 97 min(range, 65-125) whereas the mean blood loss was 600 m L(range, 400-900 m L). The average follow up was 8.3 years(range 6-11 years). The average Harris Hip score improved from 27 preoperatively to 91 at the final follow up. Seventeen patients had acetabularprotrusion which was managed with impaction grafting and cementless acetabular cup. The bone graft had consolidated in all these 17 patients at the follow up. Two patients developed discharging sinuses at 9 and 11 mo postoperatively respectively. The discharge tested positive for tuberculosis on the PCR. Both these patients were put on antitubercular therapy for another year. Both of them recovered and had no evidence of

Polyanion-based materials are considered one of the most attractive and promising cathode materials for lithiumion batteries(LIBs)due to their good stability,safety,cost-effectiveness,suitable voltages,and minimal environmental ***,these materials suffer from poor rate capability and low-temperature performance owing to limited electronic and ionic conductivity,which restricts their practical *** developments,such as coating material particles with carbon or a conductive polymer,crystal deformation through the doping of foreign metal ions,and the production of nanostructured materials,have significantly enhanced the electrochemical performances of these *** successful applications of polyanion-based materials,especially in lithium-ion batteries,have been extensively *** comprehensive review discusses the current progress in crystal deformation in polyanion-based cathode materials,including phosphates,fluorophosphates,pyrophosphates,borates,silicates,sulfates,fluorosilicates,and ***,this review provides detailed discussions on their synthesis strategies,electrochemical performance,and the doping of various ions.

This editorial critically explores the use of ankle vs thigh tourniquets in foot and ankle surgery based on a recent study that found no significant difference in postoperative pain between the two placement *** these findings,we argue for the preferential use of ankle tourniquets,highlighting their potential benefits in reducing venous blood stasis and minimizing soft tissue *** approach underscores the importance of considering long-term patient outcomes and vascular health beyond immediate postoperative *** integrating study findings with broader clinical considerations,we hereby advocate for a nuanced approach to tourniquet use that prioritizes patient safety and long-term recovery in conjunction with immediate postoperative pain.

There is an increasing interest in developing nanoparticles with diverse biologic *** this end,we prepared 10 to 15 nm silver nanoparticles(AgNP)from native isolates of Trichoderma *** this study,endophytic fungi hosted four medicinal plants in Saint Katherine Protectorate,South Sinai,Egypt have been isolated by surface sterilization technique on four isolation *** species,based on their frequency of occurrence,out of twenty recovered taxa were tested for their capability to synthesize extracellular *** atroviride hosted Chiliadenus montanus was found to be the best candidate for the production of mycogenic AgNPs among all examined *** mycosynthesized AgNPs were compared with chemically synthesized and characterized using Ultraviolet-visible(UV-vis)spectroscopy,Raman spectroscopy,X-ray diffraction(XRD)and high-resolution transmission electron microscopy(HRTEM)*** HRTEM result showed the distribution of spherical AgNPs ranging from 10 to 15 *** atroviride isolate was subjected to sequencing for confirmation of phenotypic *** internal transcribed spacer(ITS)1-5.8 s-ITS2 rDNA sequences obtained were compared with those deposited in the GenBank Database and registered with accession number MH283876 in the NCBI ***,anticandidal and antifungal effects of chemically and mycosynthesized AgNPs were examined at various concentrations in vitro against six pathogenic bacteria and 4 pathogenic fungi by agar well diffusion *** antibiotics;Gentamicin,Amoxicillin,Clotrimazole,and Nystatin at 5μg/disk were taken as positive controls,while 5%DMSO was used as the negative *** data revealed that the application of mycogenic AgNPs at a concentration of 100 ppm resulted in maximum inhibition of pathogenic bacteria and *** data suggest that AgNPs from native isolates of Trichoderma atroviride(MH283876)offer a source of rapid synthesis of eco-friendly,e

The world is confronted by the current pandemic of Corona Virus Disease(COVID-19),which is a wake-up call for all nations irrespective of their development status or geographical *** the start of the century we have seen five big infectious outbreaks which proved that epidemics are no more regarded as historic and geographically confined *** Canadian government underlined that these infectious disease outbreaks are threats to global health security and disrupt societal wellbeing and *** this context,the Public Health Agency of Canada is proactive and has shown its preparedness for outbreaks of emerging and epidemic-prone diseases,and in dealing with these *** before the declaration of pandemic,Canada has proved its global health leadership by ensuring collective action and multisectoral coordination which still remains a serious challenge especially for low and middle-income countries with existing poor health *** this article we discuss how Canada is addressing the global challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic through its leadership and practice of global health diplomacy.
