BACKGROUND Monoclonal antibodies(mAbs)have shown clinical benefits against coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2(SARS-CoV-2).Several studies have reported the use of bamlanivimab as a promising treatment option for *** To synthesize the latest evidence for the efficacy and safety of bamlanivimab alone in the treatment of adult patients with *** A literature search was conducted in PubMed,Cochrane Library,Web of Science,medRxiv,and Google Scholar using“SARS-CoV-2”,“COVID-19”,“LY-CoV555”,and“Bamlanivimab”keywords up to January 25,*** quality of included studies was assessed using the Cochrane bias *** Comprehensive Meta-Analysis software version 3.0 was used to analyze the *** A total of 30 studies involving 47368 patients were included.A significant difference was observed between the bamlanivimab and standard of care/placebo groups in terms of mortality rate[risk ratio(RR)=50,95%confidence interval(CI):0.36-0.70],hospitalization rate(RR=0.51;95%CI:0.39-0.68),and emergency department(ED)visits(RR=0.69;95%CI:0.47-0.99);while the two groups exhibited no significant difference in terms of intensive care unit(ICU)admission(P>0.05).Compared to other mAbs,bamlanivimab was associated with a higher rate of hospitalization(RR=1.44;95%CI:1.07-1.94).However,no significant difference was detected between the bamlanivimab and other mAbs groups in terms of mortality rate,ICU admission,and ED(P>0.05).The incidence of any adverse events was similar between the bamlanivimab and control groups(P>0.05).CONCLUSION Although the results suggest the efficacy and safety of bamlanivimab in COVID-19 patients,further research is required to confirm the efficacy of this drug for the current circulating SARS-CoV-2 variants.

Saffron is the most precious and expensive agricultural product. A dehydration treatment is necessary to convert Crocus sativus L. stigmas into saffron spice. To the best of our knowledge, no information on mass transfer parameters of saffron stigmas is available in the literature. This study aimed at investigating the moisture transfer parameters and quality attributes of saffron stigmas under infrared treatment at different temperatures（60,70, …, 110 ℃）. It was observed that the dehydration process of the samples occurred in a short accelerating rate period at the start followed by a falling rate period. The effective moisture diffusivity and convective mass transfer coefficient were determined by using the Dincer and Dost model. The diffusivity values varied from1.1103 × 10^-10m^2·s^-1to 4.1397 × 10^-10m^2·s^-1 and mass transfer coefficient varied in the range of 2.6433 × 10^-7–8.7203 × 10^-7m·s^-1. The activation energy was obtained to be 27.86 kJ·mol^-1. The quality assessment results showed that the total crocin content increased, when the temperature increased up to90 ℃ but, in higher temperatures, the amount of crocin decreased slightly. The total safranal content of the samples decreased slightly when drying temperature increased from 60 ℃ to 70 ℃ and then continuously increased up to 110 ℃. Also, the amount of picrocrocin increased from 83.1 to 93.3 as the drying temperature increased from 60 ℃ to 100 ℃.

The Caspian bent-toed gecko, Tenuidactylus caspius, belonging to the family Gekkonidae, is widely distributed across the northern half of Iran, especially along the southern coastal region of the Caspian Sea. It is regarded as a commensal species throughout its entire distribution. We investigated genetic variation and relationships among different populations of this species in Iran. Fragments of the mitochondrial cyt b（547 bp） and ND4（831 bp） genes were sequenced and analyzed in 64 and 28 specimens, respectively, from 21 geographically distant localities. Cyrtopodion scabrum was used as the outgroup taxon. The data showed no significant genetic variation within the populations of T. caspius in Iran. Nevertheless, populations of Khorasan and Semnan（especially Shahrood） in northeastern Iran showed greater divergence（p-distance = 2.1%） from other Iranian populations. The low genetic variation and homogeneous structure among populations of T. caspius on either side of the Elburz Mountains suggests that this species most likely has achieved its current distribution recently and as a result of anthropogenic activities.

Artemisinin as a Chinese Medicine,Selectively Induces Apoptosis in Pancreatic Tumor Cell Line

Objective： To investigate the possible mechanism through which Artemisinin induced apoptosis in pancreatic cell line. Methods： Column chromatography, thin layer chromatography （TLC） and proton NMR spectroscopy were used to purify Artemisinin. The flowcytometry was employed to detect apoptosis and reactive oxygen species （ROS）. Results： The results indicated that 50% inhibiting concentration （ICso value） for pancreatic cell line （RIN） was 45 μmol/L of Artemisinin. Artemisinin had no cytotoxic effect on the growth of peripheral blood lymphocytes. The mechanism of apoptosis was evaluated by measuring intraceliular ROS. It was shown that Artemisinin-induced apoptosis occurred independently of the binding of CD95L to CD95 receptor in the RIN cells. Moreover, Artemisinin, in a dose-dependent manner, could significantly increase the level of ROS. Conclusion： Artemisinin can induce apoptosis in the RIN cells via the generation of ROS and triggering the intrinsic pathway of cell death.

Characterization of Gradual Porous Ceramic Structures Obtained by Powder Sedimentation

Asymmetric membranes present better separation and service characteristics than the symmetric ones. In our preliminary studies the possibility of obtaining sintered porous materials with gradual structure by sedimentation of metallic and ceramic powders was demonstrated. Zirconium silicate （ZrSiO4） particles were used for the manufacturing of the porous supports, and mullite powder was deposited by sedimentation in order to achieve the active layer with pores size gradient. The used powders and the obtained structures were characterized by laser scattering particle size analyzer, scanning electron microscopy and mercury porosimetry. The permeability and the filtration fineness of the structures were also determined. By using a thin active layer made of small particles deposited onto a macro-porous support, one can achieve membranes with high flow rates and filtration fineness in the microfiltration area.

The Grass Snake, Natrix natrix, is one of the non-venomous oviparous snakes of the family Colubridae, found in Mazandaran, a northern province of Iran. In order to study the spermatogenic cycle of this species in the area, sampling was done from April to November, and twenty-six male snakes were collected by hand during daylight hours. Testes were extracted from the specimens, and were fixed and prepared for histological examination. The results indicated that the spermatogenesis started in early June, November. The mean body length of the specimens was reached its height in August and September, and ended in measured 636.21 mm, and the mean volume of testes was 524.54 rnm3 and 569.06 mm3 for the right and left ones, respectively, and the mean weight of the testes was 0.051 g Spermatogenesis in this species is aestival and sperms are stored for use in the year following production.

The extension of plasmonics to materials beyond the conventional noble metals opens up a novel and exciting regime after the inspiring discovery of characteristic localized surface plasmon resonances(LSPRs)in doped semiconductor nanocrystals originating from the collective oscillations of free holes in the valence *** herein prepare colloidal monodisperse eccentric dual plasmonic noble metal-nonstoichiometric copper chalcogenide(Au@Cu_(2-x)Se)hybrid hetero-nanostructures with precisely controlled semiconductor shell size and two tunable LSPRs in both visible(VIS)and near-infrared(NIR)regions associated with Au and Cu_(2-x)Se,*** systematic evaluations of the photocatalytic performance of Au@Cu_(2-x)Se upon sole NIR and dual VIS+NIR simultaneous excitations,we are capable of unambiguously elucidating the role of plasmonic coupling between two dissimilar building blocks on the accelerated photocatalytic reactions with greater rate constants from both experimental and computational *** significantly enhanced strength of the electromagnetic field arising from efficient plasmonic coupling under the excitation of two LSPRs results in the superior activities of dual plasmonic Au@Cu_(2-x)Se in *** new physical and chemical insights gained from this work provide the keystone for the rational design and construction of high-quality dual-or even multi-plasmonic nano-systems with optimized properties for widespread applications ranging from photocatalysis to molecular spectroscopies.
