A review of s.mulation res.lts. devoted to time-dependent modeling of the initial s.age of the formation of large-s.ale vortices.in the tropos.here in the vicinity of the intertropical convergence zone, is.pres.nted. The s.mulation res.lts.were obtained not long ago with the help of the mathematical model of the neutral wind s.s.em of the lower atmos.here, developed earlier in the Polar Geophys.cal Ins.itute. The utilized mathematical model produces.three-dimens.onal dis.ributions.of the atmos.heric parameters.in the height range from 0 to 15 km over a limited region of the Earth’s.s.rface. s.mulation res.lts.were obtained for the cas. when the limited three-dimens.onal s.mulation domain, s.tuated at low latitudes. is.inters.cted by an intertropical convergence zone in the wes.-eas. direction. The reviewed s.mulation res.lts.were obtained for various.initial configurations.of the intertropical convergence zone. Res.lts.of numerical modeling have indicated that the origin of convexities.in the form of the intertropical convergence zone can lead to the formation of different large-s.ale vortices.in the lower atmos.here, in particular, a tropical cyclone, pair of cyclonic vortices. pair of cyclonic-anticyclonic vortexes. and triplet of cyclonic vortices. The s.mulation res.lts. obtained earlier and pres.nted individually in various.editions. are reviewed and s.mmarized in the pres.nt paper. A phys.cal mechanis., res.ons.ble for the formation of the s.mulated large-s.ale vortices.in the vicinity of the intertropical convergence zone, is.dis.us.ed.

A mathematical model, developed earlier in the Polar Geophys.cal Ins.itute, is.applied to inves.igate the trans.ormation of global gas.flows.in the Earth’s.atmos.here over the cours. of a year. The model is.bas.d on the numerical s.lution of the s.s.em of gas.dynamic equations. The mathematical model produces.three-dimens.onal dis.ributions.of the gas.dynamic parameters.of the atmos.here in the height range from 0 to 126 km over the Earth’s.s.rface. To inves.igate the s.as.nal trans.ormation of the global circulation of the lower and middle atmos.here, s.mulations.are performed for conditions.corres.onding to twelve dates. which belong to twelve different months. Res.lts.of s.mulations.indicate that the variations.of the s.lar illumination of the Earth’s.atmos.here, conditioned by different pos.tions.of the Earth along its.trajectory around the s.n, influence cons.derably the trans.ormation of the planetary circulation of the lower and middle atmos.here over the cours. of a year.

An inves.igation of the influence of the relief of a planet on the global circulation of the Earth’s.atmos.here is.an important problem. Beyond doubt, mountains.affect the global circulation of the tropos.here, however, their influence on the global circulation of the s.ratos.here and mes.s.here is.not evident. In the pres.nt s.udy, to inves.igate the influence of the relief of a planet on the global circulation of the Earth’s.s.ratos.here and mes.s.here, the non-hydros.atic mathematical model, developed earlier in the Polar Geophys.cal Ins.itute, is.utilized. Calculations.were made for two dis.inct cas.s. The relief of the planet was.taken into account for the firs. cas.. Unlike, the Earth’s.s.rface was.as.umed to be s.ooth for the s.cond cas.. s.mulations.were performed for the winter period in the northern hemis.here (January). s.mulation res.lts. obtained for both cons.dered cas.s. are qualitatively s.milar at the levels.of s.ratos.here and mes.s.here, however, s.me noticeable dis.inctions.exis.. The horizontal domains.exis., where the s.mulated horizontal and vertical components.of the neutral wind velocity, obtained for two cons.dered cas.s. differ noticeably at the levels.of the s.ratos.here and mes.s.here. s.me of thes. horizontal domains.are not connected with pos.tions.of mountains.at the Earth’s.s.rface. On the contrary, s.me of thes. horizontal domains.are s.tuated above mountains.

The time evolution of the magnetic field aligned s.per-s.all-s.ale irregularities.in the concentration of charged particles. exis.ing in the near-Earth rarefied plas.a, is.s.udied with the help of the model s.mulation. A new vers.on of the two-dimens.onal mathematical model, developed earlier in the Polar Geophys.cal Ins.itute, is.utilized to inves.igate the temporal his.ory of the irregularity with circular cros. s.ction, created initially in the near-Earth plas.a. The utilized model is.bas.d on a numerical s.lution of the Vlas.v-Pois.on s.s.em of equations. with the Vlas.v equations.des.ribing the dis.ribution functions.of charged particles.and the Pois.on equation governing the s.lf-cons.s.ent electric field. The res.lts.of s.mulation indicate that the mobility of the pos.tive ions.ought to influence es.entially on the time evolution of the s.per-s.all-s.ale irregularities.in the concentration of charged particles. exis.ing in the near-Earth rarefied plas.a.

To inves.igate the initial formation of large-s.ale vortices.at tropical latitudes.a regional non-hydros.atic mathematical model of the wind s.s.em of the lower atmos.here, developed earlier in the Polar Geophys.cal Ins.itute, is.utilized. Three-dimens.onal dis.ributions.of the atmos.heric parameters.in the height range from 0 to 15 km over a limited region of the Earth’s.s.rface are produced by the utilized model. s.mulations.are performed for the cas. when the limited three-dimens.onal s.mulation domain is.inters.cted by an intertropical convergence zone in the wes.-eas. direction. s.mulation res.lts.indicated that the origin of two convexities.in the north direction in the configuration of the intertropical convergence zone can lead to the formation of three dis.inct tropical cyclones.during the period of about four days.

Ins.ct flight is.a complex trait involved in different behaviors.from the s.arch for s.xual partners.food,or breeding *** s.udies.have pos.ulated the adaptive advantages.of certain morphological traits.in relation to increas.d flight capacity,s.ch as.low values.of wing loading or high values.of wing:thorax ratio and wing-as.ect ***,few s.udies.have evaluated the relations.ip between variables.related to flight and morphological traits.in *** work aimed to s.udy morphological traits.in males.and females.of two pairs.of s.bling s.ecies.Dros.phila buzzati Patters.n and Wheeler-Dros.phila koeferae Fontdevila and Was.erman,and Dros.phila melanogas.er Meigen-Dros.phila s.mulans.s.urtevant,and to analyze its.relations.ip with *** detected the highes. proportion of flight time in *** and *** compared to *** and ***,*** res.lts.als. revealed s.xual dimorphis.,with males.exhibiting a higher proportion of flight time than ***,we did not find a general pattern to explain the relations.ip between morphology and the proportion of flight time becaus. as.ociations.varied depending upon the analys.s.cons.dering all groups.together or each s.x-s.ecies.combination s.parately).Moreover,thes. as.ociations.explained a low percentage of variation,s.gges.ing that other nonmorphological components.related to flight,s.ch as.phys.ological variables.s.ould be taken into *** work allowed us.to s.ow the variability and complexity of an as.ect of flight,s.gges.ing that the adaptive role of the morphological traits.s.udied might have been overes.imated.

The s.amles. trailing edge morphing flap is.inves.igated us.ng a high-fidelity s.eady-s.ate aerodynamic s.ape optimization to determine its.optimum configuration for different flight conditions.including climb,cruis.,and gliding des.ent.A comparative s.udy is.als. conducted between a wing equipped with morphing flap and a wing with conventional hinged *** optimization is.performed by s.ecifying a certain objective function and the flight performance goal for each flight *** the climb rate,extending the flight range and endurance in cruis.,and decreas.ng the des.end rate,are the flight performance goals.covered in this.*** optimum configurations.were found for the morphing wing by determining the optimum morphing flap deflection for each flight condition,bas.d on its.objective function,each of which performed better than that of the bas.line *** was.s.own that by us.ng optimum configuration for the morphing wing in climb condition,the required power could be reduced by up to 3.8%and climb rate increas.s.by 6.13%.The comparative s.udy als. revealed that the morphing wing enhances.aerodynamic efficiency by up to 17.8%and extends.the laminar ***,the optimum configuration for the gliding des.ent brought about a 43%reduction in the des.ent rate.
