Inmarkov Chainmonte Carlo(mCmC)simulations,thermal equilibria quantities are estimated by ensemble average over a sample set containing a large number of correlated *** samples are selected in accordance with the probability distribution function,known from the partition function of equilibrium *** the stochastic error of the simulation results is significant,it is desirable to understand the variance of the estimation by ensemble average,which depends on the sample size(i.e.,the total number of samples in the set)and the sampling interval(i.e.,cycle number between two consecutive samples).Although large sample sizes reduce the variance,they increase the computational cost of the *** a given CPU time,the sample size can be reduced greatly by increasing the sampling interval,while having the corresponding increase in variance be negligible if the original sampling interval is very *** this work,we report a few general rules that relate the variance with the sample size and the sampling *** results are observed and confirmed *** variance rules are derived for themCmCmethod but are also valid for the correlated samples obtained using other monte Carlo *** main contribution of this work includes the theoretical proof of these numerical observations and the set of assumptions that lead to them.

We use a potential flow solver to investigate the aerodynamic aspects of flapping flights in enclosed spaces. The enclosure effects are simulated by the method of images. Our study complements previous aerodynamic analyses which considered only the near-ground flight. The present results show that flying in the proximity of an enclosure affects the aerodynamic performance of flapping wings in terms of lift and thrust generation and power consumption. It leads to higher flight efficiency and more than 5% increase of the generation of lift and thrust.

Finite Element Analysis of Residual Stress and Distortion in an Eccentric Ring Induced by Quenching

The residual stresses and distortion induced by quenching in an eccentric ring were investigated in this study with finite element method. The ring was made of AISI 52100 steel. A fully coupled 3D temperature-displacement analysis was performed to simulate heat transfer, phase transformations, and mechanical stresses and strains during the heating and subsequent quenching processes. Commercial FEA package ABAQUS/Standard 6.4 was used for the analyses along with user subroutines developed by the authors to model the thermal and mechanical constitutive behavior. The simulation results show that transformation plasticity plays an important role on the residual stress distribution.

Geodynamic significance and genesis of chromitites from the Islahiye ophiolite(Gaziantep,SE Anatolia)as constrained by platinum group element(PGE)compositions and mineral chemistry characteristics

Chromitites associated with intensely altered dunites and harzburgites from fourteen dif ferent localities in the Islahiye ophiolites(SE Anatolia)is reported here for the first *** chromitites were observed as lenticular and banded bodies with disseminated and massive textures and containing magnesiochromite grains with the following composition:CrO=58.91–59.74 wt%,Al_(2)O_(3)=10.85–11.20 wt%,and TiO=0.09–0.13 wt%.The mg#[mg/(mg+Fe)]values of magnesiochromite from the Islahiye ophiolite range between 0.52 and 0.60 and their Cr#[Cr/(Cr+Al)]values vary from 0.7802 to *** contents vary with a constant pattern,coincident with the estimated parental liquids that have originated from the derivative of a single bulk of boninitic magma together with Al,Ti-poor,and Cr-rich initial *** chromitites are serpentinised in almost all parts of the study area,and harzburgite and dunite can be observed in different *** the overall composition of platinum group elements(PGE)in most examined chromitites varies between 97 and 191 ppb,three chromitites from the Islahiye region present enrichments in overall PGE(up to 214 ppb).The mineralogical and geochemical features of chromitites from the Islahiye region exhibit a robust similarity to podiform chromitites in the mantle fragment of supra–subduction zone type ophiolitic *** estimated parental magmas of the investigated chromites are consistent with the diff erentiation of arcrelated melts and do not suggest an oceanic spreading centre tectonic *** Islahiye chromites are enriched in IPGE(Ir,Os,Ru),with the occasional presence of Ru and Ir and higher Os contents in ***,we did not find any platinum group minerals(PGm)associated with the serpentine silicate sample matrix,which would have stated a secondary enrichment in *** chromitites in the investigated region have high Cr and low Ti values,are defined as magnesiochromite and were crystallised from a characte

The present study investigated the effect of partial replacement of soybean meal(Glycine max) with canola meal(Cm)(Brassica napus) on the growth performance,haematology,serum biochemistry and meat quality characteristics of female Japanese quails in a 35-day feeding *** hundred and forty6-week-old quails 158.28 ± 11.919 g were randomly allocated to 5 isonitrogenous and isoenergetic experimental diets: control diet(Cm0; with no Cm inclusion); Cm0 with 2.5%(Cm25),5.0%(Cm50),12.5%(Cm125) and 17.5%(Cm175) soybean meal replaced with *** weekly gain(AWG) and feed conversion efficiency(FCE) were ***,serum biochemistry,carcass traits and meat quality parameters were determined at *** fed Cm175 had the lowest(P mong the other 4 *** dietary effects on AWG,FCE and haematological parameters were *** biochemical parameters were not influenced by diets with the exception of alkaline phosphatase(ALP),where quails fed Cm25 had higher ALP(161.0 U/L) than those fed Cm0(37.25 U/L).Quails fed Cm25 had the highest chroma(7.39) while those fed Cm125 had the lowest(3.58) at 24 h *** had no influence(P > 0.05) on cooking losses and peak positive force of quail *** was concluded that Cm can replace soybean in quail diets up to 12.5% without compromising growth performance,health and quality of *** levels beyond 12.5% promoted poor voluntary feed intake and thus may require feed additives to enhance utilization.

Cryotic climate conditions and their eventual implication in the high-mountain surface of the Nevado de Toluca volcano, mexico

The state of the cryosphere in tropical regions is of great importance because the temperature around the glaciers, permafrost and snow cover always fluctuates near the melting point. These thermal conditions and their high sensitivity to climate change cause the accelerated disappearance of these elements;therefore, it is important to know the climatic factors that regulate them, as well as the physical characteristics of each cryospheric element. Unlike glaciers, permafrost and snow cover have not been widely studied. In recent decades, the study of the glacial and periglacial environment has been carried out in intertropical mountains. However, despite the altitude of their relief and the frequent occurrence of snowfall in tropical high mountains, the conditions that determine such events have been barely analyzed;and in the case of mexico, the volume of snowfall and its thickness have not been quantified either, as well as their corresponding duration. Consequently, this work is aimed to analyze the temperature and precipitation conditions that determine the snowfall at the higher part of the Nevado de Toluca volcano;at the same time, the conditions of the cryotic climate and their possible implication on the surface are studied. The analysis of data from 1965 to 2016, using frequency statistics, allowed to realize that snowfall occurs with low intensity, its accumulation being less than 10 cm thick and 10 mm of snow water equivalent, which causes the snowpack to stay only a few weeks on average. At the same time, it was determined that there is a significant increase in the number of freeze-thaw cycles. Therefore, due to the climate conditions and their influence on the mountain surface, it is probable that the bedrock is subject to a greater gelifraction dynamics, and the unconsolidated soil surface increases;the combination of the above could cause a greater geomorphological dynamic over time, particularly due to debris flows, and by water and wind erosion of
