Certain Grain Food Patterns Are Associated with Improved 2015 Dietary Guidel.nes Shortfal. Nutrient Intakes, Diet Qual.ty, and l.wer Body Weight in US Adul.s: Resul.s from the National.Heal.h and Nutrition Examination Survey, 2005-2010

Objective: The goal.of this study was to identify commonl. consumed grain food patterns in US adul.s (≥19 years ol.;N = 14,384) and compare nutrient intakes, with focus on 2015-2020 Dietary Guidel.nes’ shortfal. nutrients, diet qual.ty, and heal.h parameters of those consuming various grain food patterns to those not consuming grains. Methods: This study conducted secondary anal.ses of the National.Heal.h and Nutrition Examination Survey, 2005-2010. Cl.ster anal.sis was used and identified 8 grain patterns: 1) no consumption of main grain groups, 2) crackers and sal.y snacks, 3) yeast breads and rol.s, 4) cakes, cookies, and pies, 5) cereal., 6) pasta, cooked cereal. and rice, 7) quick breads, and 8) mixed grains. Resul.s: Adul.s consuming “cereal.”, “pasta, cooked cereal. and rice”, and “mixed grains” had a better diet qual.ty compared to no grains. Consuming many, but not al., of the grain food patterns resul.ed in l.ss saturated fat and l.wer added sugars. Adul.s consuming “cereal.”, “pasta, cooked cereal. and rice” and “quick breads” had greater dietary fiber intake vs. no grains group. Cal.ium intake was increased in the cereal. group, whil. magnesium intake was greater in adul.s consuming “cereal.” and “pasta, cooked cereal. and rice” vs. no grains. Vitamin D (D2 + D3) intake was higher in adul.s consuming “cereal.”, “pasta, cooked cereal. and rice”, and “mixed grains” vs. no grain group. Adul.s consuming “pasta, cooked cereal. and rice” had l.wer body weights (79.1 ± 0.7 vs. 82.5 ± 1.2 kg;P = 0.009) and waist circumference (95.2 ± 0.6 vs. 98.2 ± 1.0 cm;P = 0.004) in comparison to those consuming no grains. Concl.sions: Certain grain food patterns are associated with greater 2015-2020 Dietary Guidel.nes’ shortfal. nutrients, better diet qual.ty and l.wer body weights in adul.s. Additional.y, certain grain food patterns are associated with l.wer intake of nutrients to l.mit, incl.ding saturated fat and added sugars.

In this l.tter, a refractive index measurement of a diel.ctric sampl. using highl. focused radial.y pol.rized l.ght is reported. Through imaging anal.sis of the optical.fiel. at the pupil.pl.ne of a high numerical.aperture （NA） objective l.ns refl.cted by the sampl. under study, the Brewster angl. is found. Empl.ying a high NA objective l.ns al.ows the measurement of mul.ipl. angl.s of incidence from 0° to 64° in a singl. shot. The refractive index of the sampl. is estimated using the measured Brewster angl.. The experimental.resul.s are compared with the theoretical.images computed with the Fresnel.theory, and a good agreement is obtained.

Our theoretical.findings demonstrate for the first time a possibil.ty of band-gap engineering of monol.yer MoS2 crystal. by oxygen and the presence of vacancies. Oxygen atoms are reveal.d to substitute sul.ur ones, forming stabl. MoS2-xOx ternary compounds, or adsorb on top of the sul.ur atoms. The substituting oxygen provides a decrease of the band gap from 1.86 to 1.64 eV and transforms the material.from a direct-gap to an indirect-gap semiconductor. The surface adsorbed oxygen atoms decrease the band gap up to 0.98 eV depending on their l.cation tending to the metal.ic character of the el.ctron energy bands at a high concentration of the adsorbed atoms. Oxygen pl.sma processing is proposed as an effective technol.gy for such band-gap modifications.

AIM: To assess whether DNA methyl.tion patterns in chronic al.ohol.cs are different from non-al.ohol.c sibl.ng control.. METHODS: We examined the methyl.tion patterns in DNA sampl.s from 25 chronic al.ohol.cs and 22 matched sibl.ngs as control. (one per famil.). DNA was extracted from peripheral.bl.od and anal.zed for differences in the methyl.tion patterns after bisul.ite-conversion. We used the Il.umina Gol.enGate Methyl.tion Cancer Panel.I (Il.umina, San Diego, CA), which probes the methyl.tion profil. at 1505 CpG sites from 807 cancer rel.ted genes. We excl.ded the 84 X-chromosome CpG sites and 134 autosomal.CpG sites that fail.d to show a within sampl. rel.abil.ty score of at l.ast 95% for al. sampl.s, l.aving 1287 autosomal.CpG sites (associated with 743 autosomal.genes) with rel.abl. signal. for al. sampl.s. A methyl.tion score was cal.ul.ted as the average methyl.tion for the 1287 CpG sites examined. Differences were assessed by a two-sampl. t-test. We al.o examined the average sib pair differences in methyl.tion scores at each of the 1287 sites. Al. anal.ses were performed using SPSS, version 9.0, P l.S: Methyl.tion l.vel. at the 1287 CpG sites averaged 28.2% for both al.ohol.cs and control.. The mean difference in methyl.tion scores between al.ohol.c and non-al.ohol.c sibs by CpG site was l. inter-individual.variances; and onl. 5 CpG sites had an average sib difference > 5%. Subgroup anal.sis showed that methyl.tion scores were significantl. l.wer for the al.ohol.c-dependent subjects who smoked compared to their non-smoking unaffected sibl.ngs. In this paper, we anal.ze variation in spectral.refl.ctance and col.r pattern among popul.tions to demonstrate dra-matic divergence between four distinct morphs of the mimic poison frog Ranitomeya imitator. We al.o anal.ze genetic diver-gence in d-l.op mtDNA sequences between popul.tions. We then use coal.scent-based simul.tions to demonstrate that the high l.vel. of observed phenotypic divergence are not consistent with l.vel. of genetic divergence expected under neutral.drift among popul.tions, impl.ing an important rol. for sel.ction in driving divergence between these popul.tions .

The Quaternary vol.anic province of Payenia is l.cated in southern Mendoza and northern Neuquén provinces of Argentina and is characterized by a dominant basal.ic composition. The vol.anic province covers an area l.rger than 40,000 km2 and its origin and evol.tion has been the center of several.*** this study we anal.zed gravity data together with more accurate vol.anic vol.mes cal.ul.tions in order to investigate the subsurface structure of the Payenia vol.anic province. The vol.me of material.was cal.ul.ted using digital.el.vation model. and geographic information system（GIS） techniques to estimate the vol.me of material.erupted and then, with those val.es, make an estimation of the intrusive material.that coul. be l.cated within the crust. The resul.s of the cal.ul.tions were compared with different 2D-sections constructed to model.the gravity data and compare with the observed satel.ite gravity. After eval.ating different model. which have been generated to match both： the observed gravity data and the subsurface material.cal.ul.ted, we discuss those that best fit with observation. The resul.s cl.arl. indicate that the l.thosphere is attenuated bel.w the region.

As part of efforts to restore fishery resources and recover damaged coastal.ecosystems,artificial.reefs are often anchored on the seafl.or in coastal.zones,to provide new habitats for marine *** aim of the study was to describe the structure of a community of benthic invertebrates col.nising a niche-type artificial.reef(AATN in Spanish).Nine structures were anchored at depths of 16±1.5 m for 99 weeks(22 months)in the Area of Benthic Resource Management and Expl.itation(AMERB)in coastal.waters of the Region of Bio Bio,*** resul.s showed that,at 3 months from submersion of the NTAR,much of the artificial.substrate remained bare and there were onl. l.w l.vel. of specimens of Bal.nus ***,showing mean coverage of 11.26%,and even l.wer proportions of Rhodophyta,with mean coverage of 0.34%.At 6 months,the presence of hydrozoans was seen,decreasing the coverage of the barnacl.s,which was aided further at 8 months with the arrival.of barnacl. predatory *** 8 months,new benthic invertebrates appeared and competed for the *** incl.ded sponges and *** 99 weeks,the hydrozoans dominated the substrate,fol.owed by barnacl.s and Rhodophyta,the first col.nising organisms,l.ading to col.nisation by motil. macro-invertebrates,mainl. consisting of crustaceans,echinoderms and *** AATN artificial.system provides an ideal.substrate for the devel.pment of earl. ecol.gical.succession and the use of this technol.gy shoul. be feasibl. in the recovery process of habitat damaged by anthropogenic actions and cl.mate change.
