Obesity is a significant and escalating health issue both in Brazil and globally, with over 650 million overweight adults worldwide. The treatment of obesity can be performed clinically, endoscopically or surgically;surgical treatment proves to be safe and more effective in terms of weight loss and long-term maintenance. Objective: This study aimed to monitor the progress of weight loss and comorbidity control in patients undergoing sleeve gastrectomy with duodenal bipartition. Methods: This pilot project involved 8 patients divided into 2 arms. In the first arm, patients underwent sleeve gastrectomy with Roux-en-Y duodenoileal transit bipartition (S-RYDITB), while in the second arm, patients underwent sleeve gastrectomy with Roux-en-Y duodenojejunal transit bipartition (S-RYDJTB). Both procedures involved Roux-en-Y reconstruction without duodenal exclusion. In S-RYDITB, the duodenal-ileal anastomosis was performed 300 cm from the ileocecal valve (IcV), creating a 250 cm common channel and a 50 cm alimentary channel. In S-RYDJTB, a biliopancreatic loop was created 200 cm from the angle of Treitz, with a 1 m alimentary channel. Results: Five patients underwent the procedures, with one undergoing S-RYDITB and four undergoing S-RYDJTB. No adverse events such as hospitalizations, readmissions, reoperations, fistulas, bleeding, pulmonary embolism, diarrhea, dumping syndrome, or hypoglycemia occurred during the study period. The mean length of hospital stay was 2 days. The average BMI decreased from 37.27 kg/m2 preoperatively to 29.48 kg/m2 after 6 months. The significant percentage of weight loss was 21.22%, with excess weight loss of 63.6%. Ninety-five percent remission of comorbidities, including hypercholesterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia, diabetes, hypertension, steatosis, and pre-diabetes. despite being within the intertropical region of the planet,the Mexican territory still has glacier-covered *** recent dec.des,important advances have been made in studies on glaciology and periglacial environment in Mexico both for current and past ***,in spite of cofre de Perote volcano(4200 m a.s.l.)being a strategically located mountain,it has not yet been studied in regards to the glacial and periglacial processes;in fact,those dynamics have modified the mountain massifs in the *** complement the series of studies on glacial history in the high mountain environment of México,this study reconstructs the glacial cover and the periglacial environment of the volcano surface during the final stage of the Late Pleistocene based on climatic retrospective and through the identification of geomorphological *** findings indicate the existence of a large glacier(ice cap)that covered the northern,western,and southern slopes of the mountain;while in the eastern sector there were two small glaciers,one being of cirque type,and the other of valley *** current temperature conditions prevent the occurrence of permanent ice bodies;at the same time,it was found that the periglacial blockfields of the slopes is a legacy of the climatic conditions that prevailed at the end of Late Pleistocene.

Bacterial populations isolated from treated soil,artificially contaminated with lead(Pb)and cadmium(cd)and undergoing a phytoremediation process were studied to determine their potential application in soil *** physicochemical parameters evaluated in the soil varied *** bacterial strains were selected from each polluted soil to test tolerance and growth in contaminated *** concentrations of heavy metals tested were 1,000 ppm for lead and 850 ppm for *** strains were morphologically identified through Gram *** strains showing the most significant growth in both contaminants were then selected to verify their tolerance to different concentrations of heavy *** results demonstrated that the selected bacteria have high tolerance to Pb,resisting inhibition up to 2,000 *** contrast,strains exposed to cadmium tended to slow their growth as the concentration increased.

comparative Study of the Widal Test against Stool culture in the Diagnosis of Suspected cases of Typhoid Fever in Some Low Income communities in the Adamawa Region of cameroon

Introduction: Infectious diseases constitute a major concern of public health in developing countries. Facilities and well trained staff have been shown to be one of the major obstacles in the rapid and quality diagnosis of these diseases. As such, we carried out an analysis to compare the Widal test and stool culture to identify febrile patients with Salmonella infection. Method: A cross sectional study was conducted to diagnose salmonella infection with out-patients who demonstrated signs of salmonella infection. Serum was harvested from blood collected from 368 (Vina = 234, Mayo Banyo 65, and Djerem = 69) patients accompanied by stool, Widal test was conducted on the spot and stool was taken to a reference laboratory for culture using standard microbiological methods, sociological set up was calculated in percentages, prevalence was calculated using excel while statistical difference was calculated using SPSS. Sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV) were calculated to compare the Widal test against stool culture. Results: A total of 368 (50.8% females and 49.2% males) participants took part in the survey. Salmonella prevalence (66.24%) in stool culture in the Vina division was significantly different (p 0.05). The sensitivity,specificity, PPV, and NPV of slide agglutination test against stool culture varied from different areas (Vina: 51.6%, 73.62%, 79.21% and 43.61%;Mayo Banyo: 60.53%, 77.78%, 79.31% and 58.33%;Djerem: 53.18%, 83.73% 73.91% and 67.39%) respectively. Slide agglutination test has a fair agreement with the stool culture (kappa, Vina = 0.202;Mayo Banyo = 0.37 and Djerem = 0.38). conclusion: Generally, in the three areas of study, the Widal test had a fair correlation with the stool culture;This means the Widal test should not be used alone but in combination with stool culture in the detection of salmonella infections.

Neurodegenerative disorders affect millions of people worldwide,and the prevalence of these disorders is only projected to rise as the number of people over 65 will drastically increase in the coming *** therapies exist to aid in symptomatic relief,effective treatments that can stop or reve rse the progress of each neurodegenerative disease are ***,research on the role of extracellular vesicles as disease markers and therapeutics has been intensively ***,30-150 nm in diameter,are one type of extracellular vesicles facilitating cell-to-cell *** are thought to play a role in disease propagation in a variety of neurodegenerative diseases,such as Alzheimer's disease,Parkinson s disease,and amyotrophic lateral ***,the exosomes derived from the patients are an invaluable source of disease *** the other hand,exosomes,especially those derived from stem cells,could serve as a therapeutic for these disorders,as seen by a rapid increase in clinical trials investigating the therapeutic efficacy of exosomes in different neurological *** review summarizes the pathological burden and therapeutic approach of exosomes in neurodegenerative *** also highlight how heat shock increases the yield of exosomes while still maintaining their therapeutic ***,this review concludes with outstanding questions that remain to be addressed in exosomal research.

Predictors of Abnormal Vaginal Discharge among Women of Reproductive Age in Southeast Nigeria

Background: An abnormal vaginal discharge is a common complaint among women of reproductive age, and it can indicate serious conditions like pelvic inflammatory disease and cervical cancer. This study aimed to assess the predictors of abnormal vaginal discharge in women of reproductive age group in Imo State, Southeast Nigeria. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 368 women of reproductive age group attending the clinic at Federal University Teaching Hospital Owerri, in Imo State, Nigeria. Respondents were recruited using a systematic sampling technique. Data were collected using a pre-tested interviewer-administered questionnaire. Multivariable analysis was performed to determine predictors of abnormal vaginal discharge. Statistical significance was set at p Results: The mean age of the respondents was 30 ± 4.5 years. Predictors of abnormal vaginal discharge were: age 36 - 45 years (OR: 4.5;95% c.I: 1.023 - 8.967, p = 0.041), being a student (OR: 2.4: 95% c.I: 1.496 - 7.336, p = 0.003), use of oral contraceptives (OR: 3.4;95% c.I: 1.068 - 6.932, p = 0.010), use of water cistern (OR: 4.7;c.I: 1.654 - 5.210, p = 0.028) anal hygiene practices (OR: 2.7;95% c.I: 1.142 - 4.809, p conclusion: These findings suggest that targeted sexual and reproductive health interventions should be provided to reduce the risk of abnormal vaginal discharge in women of reproductive age group.

This work presents a different approach to twin primes, an approach from the perspective of the Tesla numbers and gives a refresh and new observation of twin primes that could lead us to an answer to the Twin Prime conjecture problem. We expose a peculiar relation between twin primes and the generation of prime numbers with Tesla numbers. Tesla numbers seem to be present in so many domains like time, vibration and frequency [1], and the space between twin primes is not the exception. Let us say that twin primes are more than just prime numbers plus 2 or minus 2, and Tesla numbers are more involved with twin primes than we think, and hopefully, this approach give us a better understanding of the distribution of the twin pairs.

Sequential Analysis in the Identification of 3rd Order System Tract in the Abidjan Margin

The use of sequential stratigraphy concept, based on well logs, sedimentology, and biostratigraphy, has shed light on the complex mechanisms controlling sedimentary accumulations. consequently, identifying these mechanisms allows us to predict the hydrocarbon generation potential of source rocks. In the Ivorian offshore sedimentary basin, certain studies have contributed to understanding and characterizing the petroleum system. However, these previous works did not integrate biostratigraphic data to highlight sedimentary facies. This study, conducted on two wells in the Abidjan margin, is crucial as it helps us comprehend the geometry of fossil sediments in relation to sea level variations. It will also aid in reconstructing the basin-filling history and predicting the distribution of rocks capable of trapping oil, determining lowstand systems tracts (reservoir rocks), transgressive systems tracts, and highstand systems tracts (cap rocks). Lithological analysis revealed predominantly clayey sedimentation with sandy layers. Well log data facilitated the delineation of formation boundaries and highlighted reservoirs consisting of sands, sandstones, limestones, and occasionally intercalated shales. Integrating these analysis results with biostratigraphic interpretations based on foraminifera and palynomorphs revealed that the traversed formations were deposited in a transitional environment ranging from coniacian to Maastrichtian ages. Applying sequential stratigraphy concept from well logging resolved dating issues encountered in microfossil-poor or microfossil-free zones. The results of the coniacian-Maastrichtian age sequential subdivision were aligned with the chart.
