Over the last two centuries,the impact of the Human System has grown dramatically,becoming strongly dominant within the Earth System in many diferent ***,inequality,and population have increased extremely fast,especially since about 1950,threatening to overwhelm the many critical functions and ecosystems of the Earth *** in the Earth System,in turn,have important feedback efects on the Human System,with costly and potentially serious ***,current models do not incorporate these critical *** argue that in order to understand the dynamics of either system,Earth System Models must be coupled with Human System Models through bidirectional couplings representing the positive,negative,and delayed feedbacks that exist in the real *** particular,key Human System variables,such as demographics,inequality,economic growth,and migration,are not coupled with the Earth System but are instead driven by exogenous estimates,such as United Nations population *** makes current models likely to miss important feedbacks in the real Earth–Human system,especially those that may result in unexpected or counterintuitive outcomes,and thus requiring diferent policy interventions from current *** importance and imminence of sustainability challenges,the dominant role of the Human System in the Earth System,and the essential roles the Earth System plays for the Human System,all call for collaboration of natural scientists,social scientists,and engineers in multidisciplinary research and modeling to develop coupled Earth–Human system models for devising efective science-based policies and measures to beneit current and future generations.

Neonatal Necrotizing fasciitis after Circumcision: A Case Report and Review of Literature

Background: Necrotizing fasciitis is a soft tissue infection that occurs predominantly in adults. Although rare, only 70 cases have been reported in neonates. This entity, most commonly caused by multiple organisms is often fatal, with 50% mortality. The combination of a low incidence and high mortality in this subgroup strengthens the need for early diagnosis, prompt recognition and immediate surgical treatment in order to improve survival. Aim: The aim of this case report is to bring awareness of a clinical condition that relies mostly on physical examination and where early diagnosis and immediate surgical treatment are needed in order to improve survival. Case presentation: We report the case of an 8-day-old boy presenting neonatal necrotizing fasciitis after circumcision. Patient presented with lower back erythema and areas of fluctuation. He was started on antibiotic therapy and 24 hours after admission, he was taken to the operating room for multiple fasciotomies, debridement and cleansing of affected areas. findings were consistent with necrotizing fasciitis. After surgical intervention, local care was given until complete healing was achieved, approximately one month after admission. Conclusion: The surgeon must be attentive for the possible occurrence of this lethal infection that may develop post operatively after clean or clean-contaminated procedures. Preparation for treating these patients immediately with adequate fluid resuscitation, appropriate antibiotics and aggressive surgical debridement of non-viable tissue will provide the maximal potential for recovery. These prompt measures will offer the best chance for survival and eventually decrease the 50% mortality rate associated to the neonatal population.

随着石油、天然气、地热井等勘探开发钻井深度的不断增加,传统的机械钻井方法表现出效率低、能耗高等缺点,因此有必要研发新型高效的破岩钻进技术。电脉冲钻进具有破岩效率高、能耗低、井壁质量好等优点,是目前一种非常具有潜力的新型高效破岩方式。介绍了高压电脉冲放电破岩分类、电脉冲钻进技术应用前景、电脉冲钻进原理及电脉冲破岩钻进研究现状,并对电脉冲破岩钻进装置、电脉冲破岩过程及电脉冲钻进基础理论等的研究进展进行了分析。在总结电脉冲钻进岩石破碎研究存在不足的基础上,探讨了电脉冲钻进技术可能的发展趋势与研究方向。

五种蕨类植物气体交换作用的节律响应

昼夜节律对光合作用和气孔导度(G_(s))的重要调节作用已经在种子植物和藻类植物中进行了系统的研究。然而,最早进化的维管束植物-蕨类植物的相关作用还尚未研究。本研究中以5种蕨类植物为材料进行正常的光周期驯化处理,然后转移至全光照条件下生长,测量正常和全光照下的气体交换和光化学指标,在排除光照影响条件下分析这5种蕨类植物节律响应特点及种间差异,以明确其节律响应特点。结果发现:全光照下,大多数蕨类植物如肾蕨、夏雪银线蕨和鸟巢蕨净光合速率(P_(n))表现出了昼夜节律,节律驱动的P_(n)昼夜变化占15.8%~42.7%,并且肾蕨的光电子传递效率(Φ_(PSII))、阿波银线蕨的非光化学猝灭系数(NPQ)和夏雪银线蕨的光下最大荧光(f’m)也呈现出了昼夜节律;鸟巢蕨和阿波银线蕨的G_(s)表现出了昼夜节律;夏雪银线蕨、阿波银线蕨和鸟巢蕨的P_(n)/胞间二氧化碳浓度(C_(i))上也表现出昼夜节律;还有4种蕨类植物在蒸腾速率(T_(r))表现出昼夜节律。对其中一种具有较强节律响应的绿地珊瑚蕨进行光合色素、非结构性碳(NSC)含量和光合作用、气孔运动相关基因表达分析发现:蕨类植物的光合作用和水分运输相关基因的表达表现出明显的昼夜节律,如捕光色素复合体蛋白基因(SaLHCB2、SaLHCB5)、碳酰酐酶基因(SaSA2)、玉米黄素环氧酶基因(SaZEP)和水通道蛋白基因(SaPIP1s)等;P_(n)的变化与淀粉负反馈调节作用和光合作用相关蛋白转录调节相关,而与气孔与叶肉导度无关。蕨类植物的光合作用的节律调节具有较强的保守性,其水分运输消耗与气孔运动具有相对独立的调节作用。本研究结果对于蕨类植物的多样性保护和利用具有重要意义。

Calretinin Expression in Unicystic Ameloblastoma and Odontogenic Cysts

Background: Unicystic ameloblastoma arises from similar tissues as the odontogenic cysts. It may also arise from the epithelial lining of these cysts. furthermore, the epithelial lining of unicystic ameloblastoma is variable and may be almost completely nondescript, which may lead to diagnostic confusion with odontogenic cysts. Calretinin is a calcium-binding protein that has been suggested to be a specific immunohistochemical marker for ameloblastic tissues. The aim of this study was to investigate the usefulness of calretinin in the differentiating unicystic ameloblastoma from odontogenic keratocyst, dentigerous cyst and radicular cyst of the jaws. Materials and Methods: formalin-fixed, paraffin embedded tissue blocks of 23 unicystic ameloblastomas, 6 odontogenic keratocysts, 8 dentigerous cysts and 10 radicular cysts were utilized. five micrometer thick sections were made from the tissue blocks and mounted on silanized glass slides. Immunohistochemical staining was done using a 1:100 dilution of mouse monoclonal anti-calretinin primary antibodies (Abcam, SA;Clone 1f5H1) and incubating overnight at 4°C. The staining reaction was visualised using diaminobenzidine substrate solution. Stained tissue sections were evaluated for the presence, distribution, and intensity of staining of the immunoreactive cells. Data analysis was done using SPSS version 23. Statistical tests employed were Chi square test and Kruskal-Wallis test. The level of significance was set at 95% (p-value Results: Calretinin expression was seen in 14 (60.9%) cases of unicystic ameloblastoma, 3 (50.0%) cases of odontogenic keratocyst and a lone (12.5%) case of dentigerous cyst. None of the 10 cases of radicular cyst showed positive expression of calretinin. Staining in unicystic ameloblastoma was mostly localized to the superficial layers, whereas in odontogenic keratocyst it involved all layers of the epithelial lining. Objective:To investigate some important aspects of the biology of Callinectes amnicola(***)such as fecundity,carapace length-weight relationship,condition factor and carapace length frequency distribution from the Cross River estuary,***:A total of one hundred and twenty ovigerous females of ***,freshly caught with basket traps,lift net trap,and gill net were collected from the catches of the artisanal fisheries in the study area between June 2012 and May ***,carapace length-weight relationship,condition factor and carapace length frequency distribution were determined and analyzed following standard ***:fecundity(f)ranged between 73090 eggs for crab of carapace length 8.1 cm and total weight 34 g and 809450 eggs for crab of carapace length 16.1 cm and total weight 395 g with a mean of 311808.93±17693.94 *** was a positive significant relationship between fecundity and carapace length,total weight and condition factor as follows:f=6839.7CL^(1.4403)(r^(2)=0.2145,Pf=15302TW^(0.5798)(r^(2)=0.4079,Pf=147255K^(0.2788)(r=0.2717,r^(2)=0.0738,Pficant linear relationship between carapace length and weight of *** is given by the equation:Log W=2.0447LogL–0.1389(r^(2)=0.3357,Pfactor ranged between 21.48 to 104.95 with a mean value of 47.21±*** carapace length frequency distribution showed a unimodal class size ***:findings of this study is crucial in assessing the population dynamics and development of management strategies of the the Blue crab,*** from the estuary such as mesh size regulation,fishing season and fishing ground regulation in the Cross River ***,findings of this study will be useful in evaluation of the aquaculture potential of the Blue crab ***,which is a valuable shell fish for the inhabitants estuary.

Agave salmiana ash and poultry eggshell powder as CaO sources were used for obtaining nanostructured hydro-xyapatite(HAP).The synthesis was carried out by the Green Chemistry Hydrothermal Biosynthesis at 180℃ with a pH of 5,by reacting CaO from Agave Salmiana ash and Eggshell powder,with dibasic caldium phosphate(CaH-PO_(4)+2H_(2)O)in an aqueous solution,with Aloe barbadensis *** product was characterized by X-ray dif-fraction,fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(fT-IR),Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM),and Transmission Electron Microscopy(TEM).The size and shape of the hydroxyapatite particles changed dramati-cally in the presence of Aloe *** crystals of Hydroxyapatite were observed when Eggshell powder and Agave salmiana ash were used as raw materials in the presence of the Aloe barbadensis *** with shapes of ribbons and plates from 1 micrometers to 8 micrometers were observed when using the eggshell powder in the presence of Aloe bar badensis and,in the case of Agave salmiana ash in the presence of Aloe bar-badensis,crystals with shapes of quadra ngular prisms and hexagonal(polyhedra)with sizes from 2 micrometers to 20 micrometers were *** was therefore successfully biosynthesized by a green and sus-tainable method that reduces the environmental impact.

Implantosuported Rehabilitation after Marginal Recession of Mandibular Calcifying Epithelial Odontogenic Tumor: Case Report

The Calcifying Epithelial Odontogenic Tumor (CEOT) also called the Pindborg’s Tumor represents a rare benign epithelial odontogenic neoplasm with locally aggressive behavior. Surgical excision with a safety margin is one of the treatment options, requiring bone and soft tissue reconstruction for implant-supported rehabilitation, providing the individual with a return to adequate oral functions. The objective of the present study is to report on the case of the treatment stages and the factors involved in the rehabilitation of a 23-year-old man with a history of mandibular lesion diagnosed as CEOT. A marginal resection of the mandible lesion was performed, with posterior reconstruction with iliac crest bone graft and soft tissue graft to allow the implant-supported rehabilitation. Currently, in the postoperative control, the individual shows no signs of tumor recurrence and is rehabilitated without functional and/or aesthetic complaints. Surgical excision should be framed as a form of treatment, aiming for better resolution in the more complex cases of these invasive tumors.

for the numerical simulation of time harmonic acoustic scattering in a complex geometry,in presence of an arbitrary mean flow,the main difficulty is the coexistence and the coupling of two very different phenomena:acoustic propagation and convection of *** consider a linearized formulation coupling an augmented Galbrun equation(for the perturbation of displacement)with a time harmonic convection equation(for the vortices).We first establish the well-posedness of this time harmonic convection equation in the appropriatemathematical *** the complete problem,with Perfectly Matched Layers at the artificial boundaries,is proved to be coercive+compact,and a hybrid numerical method for the solution is proposed,coupling finite elements for the Galbrun equation and a Discontinuous Galerkin scheme for the convection *** a 2D numerical result shows the efficiency of the method.
