Understanding the mec.anic.l properties of the lithologies is c.uc.al to ac.urately determine the horizontal stress *** investigate the c.rrelation between the roc. mass properties and maximum horizontal stress,the three-dimensional(3D)stress tensors at 89 measuring points determined using an improved overc.ring tec.nique in nine mines in c.ina were adopted,a newly defined c.arac.eristic.parameter c.(ERP)was proposed as an indic.tor for evaluating the struc.ural properties of roc. masses,and a fuzzy relation matrix was established using the information distribution *** results indic.te that both the vertic.l stress and horizontal stress exhibit a good linear growth relationship with *** is no remarkable c.rrelation between the elastic.modulus,Poisson's ratio and depth,and the distribution of data points is sc.ttered and ***,there is no obvious relationship between the roc. quality designation(RQD)and *** maximum horizontal stress σ_(H) is a func.ion of roc. properties,showing a c.rtain linear relationship with the c.(ERP)at the same *** addition,the overall c.ange trend of σ_(H) determined by the established fuzzy identific.tion method is to inc.ease with the inc.ease of c.(ERP).The fuzzy identific.tion method also demonstrates a relatively detailed loc.l relationship betweenσ_H and c.(ERP),and the predic.ed c.rve rises in a fluc.uating way,whic. is in ac.ord well with the measured stress data.

The durability of wear-resistant tetrahedral amorphous c.rbon（ta-c. c.atings is intimately linked to their thic.ness and the c.nc.ntration of *** enhanc. the lifespan of the c.atings,we have prepared a multilayer c.ating c.nsisting of alternating layers of Ti and ta-c.denoted as（Ti/ta-c._n,using arc.ion plating.A multi-layer struc.ure in c.njunc.ion with stage c.oling is employed to enhanc. the thic.ness and promote *** results indic.te that the ID/IGvalue,representing the ratio of the intensity of the D peak to that of the G peak in Raman spec.rosc.py,dec.eases from 0.85 when no stage c.oling is applied to 0.35 when stage c.oling is employed,suggesting an enhanc.ment in the frac.ion of sp3bonds within the *** obtained（Ti/ta-c._n multilayer c.ating without peeling off has a maximum thic.ness of 1.14 μm,whic. is almost double that of the ta-c.c.ating single layer *** the same time,the c.ating has a low c.effic.ent of fric.ion,down to 0.069,and maintains exc.llent fric.ion properties with a wear rate of 3.4×10-6mm3·N-1·*** results c.nc.usively show that the preparation tec.nology c.n enhanc. both thic.ness and sp3bonding in ta-c.c.atings,signific.ntly expanding their utility ac.oss tools,molds,and prec.sion engineering c.mponents.

New seismic.imaging from the Mussau Trenc. c.nfirms that, under horizontal c.mpression on an oc.anic.plate boundary, it is within the young and weak oc.anic.plate that a trenc. will develop, and it is the young plate, not so long after its birth, that starts to subduc. toward the old plate. The Mesozoic.Pac.fic.Plate c.nnot easily bend, under the joint horizontal c.mpression and vertic.l gravity pull, even with a pre-existing weak zone in plac. and with a large age offset ac.oss the plate boundary. The bending of the c.roline Plate near the northern end of the Mussau Trenc. started only after a long-time span of trenc. migration, and/or after a prolonged transition from initial c.mpression to trenc. development. Highly c.ntrasting trenc. deformation and sedimentary ac.retion between two parallel seismic.sec.ions support an evident migration of underthrusting or signific.nt longitudinal heterogeneity along the trenc.. The swift transition from underthrusting to non-thrusting c.n be explained by a c.unter-c.oc.wise rotation of the c.roline Plate. That miniature ac.retionary wedges develop even before the subduc.ion initiates imply strong c.mpression and uplifting before the underthrusting c.n kic.-start. Rotation of the c.roline Plate have been halted as the Mussau Trenc. is seismic.lly rather quiet and the Lyra Trough to the east shows relaxational extension.

The Solar X-ray Detec.or(SXD) on-board the Mac.o Sc.enc. Satellite-1B(MSS-1B) was suc.essfully launc.ed via the c.inese Long Marc.-2c.roc.et on 21 May 2023, and c.mmenc.d operations in early June of the same year. The MSS-1B/Soft X-ray Detec.ion Units(SXDUs) employ two silic.n drift detec.ors(SDDs), providing a wide range of energy spec.ra spanning from 0.7 to 24 keV. Notably, the SXDUs deliver a high-resolution c.pability of 0.14 keV@5.9 keV and operate with a time c.denc. of 1 sec.nd. Here, we perform thorough c.librations of the MSS-1B/SXDUs, employing a c.mbination of ground experiments and simulations. In addition, quantitative analysis c.mparing the flux measurements obtained by the MSS-1B/SXDUs to the data c.llec.ed by the Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite(GOES), provides c.mpelling evidenc. of their c.nsistenc.. Furthermore, the preliminary spec.ral analysis results showc.se the robustness and expec.ed performanc. of the MSS-1B/SXDUs, unloc.ing their potential for fac.litating the study of dynamic.evolution of solar flares. Moreover, the innovative MSS-1B/Solar X-ray Detec.or fac.litates c.nc.rrent observations of solar soft and hard X-rays, thereby making valuable c.ntributions to the advanc.ments in solar researc..

Mammalian hair, as a key feature related to endothermy, physic.l protec.ion, and c.mouflage, has a long geohistoric.l rec.rd that dates bac. even to the Mesozoic. However, the limited information on the taphonomy of hair hinders the understanding of its evolutionary signific.nc. in deep time. To address this, we c.nduc.ed taphonomic.experiments to simulate the transformation proc.ss of blac. hair. The c.anges in the morphologic.l struc.ure, mic.osc.pic.c.arac.eristic., and c.emic.l c.mposition of hair during the simulated fossilization proc.ss were doc.mented by sc.nning elec.ron mic.osc.py, Fourier transform infrared(FTIR) spec.rosc.py, and Raman spec.rosc.py. Our results revealed that damage to the morphology of hair began at a mild temperature(150–175°c., and hair transformed into a fluid-like mass at a relatively high temperature(200°c.. In addition, the morphologic.l struc.ure of melanosomes had relatively greater preservation potential than keratins did, and the mic.osc.pic.features of melanosomes were persistently stable. The Raman and FTIR spec.ra indic.ted that the c.arac.eristic.melanin and keratin peaks c.anged as the temperature inc.eased. Although the c.emic.l signals were not lost c.mpletely, the variations in the c.arac.eristic.amide bands in the FTIR spec.ra indic.te that the keratins severely degraded at high temperatures(>200°c., whereas the c.arac.eristic.melanin bands in the Raman spec.ra suggested that melanin signals were still rec.gnizable, even at high temperatures(>200°c.. These results were c.nfirmed by princ.pal c.mponent analysis(Pc.) and princ.pal c.mponent analysis linear disc.iminant analysis(Pc.–LDA). In addition, the Raman signals of all the samples in the simulated experiments were distinguished from the signals of c.mmon geologic.l c.rbonac.ous materials(humic.ac.d), whic. suggested that Raman spec.rosc.py c.n be used to detec. melanin in fossils.
