In the past 20-30 years, developmental biologists have made tremendous progress in identifying genes required for the specifica-tion of individual cell types of an organ and in describing how they interact in genetic networks. In comparison, very little is known about the mechanisms that regulate tissue polarity and overall organ patterning. Gynoecia and fruits from members of the Brassicaceae family of flowering plants provide excellent model systems to study organ patterning and tissue specification because they become partitioned into distinct domains whose formation is determined by polarity establishment both at a cellular and whole tissue level. Interactions among key regulators of Arabidopsis gynoecium and fruit development have revealed a network of upstream transcription factor activities required for such tissue differentiation. Regulation of the plant hormone auxin is emerging as both an immediate downstream output and input of these activities, and here we aim to provide an overview of the current knowledge regarding the link between auxin and female reproductive development in plants. In this review, we will also demonstrate how available data can be exploited in a mathematical modeling approach to reveal and understand the feedback regulatory circuits that underpin the polarity establishment, necessary to guide auxin flows.

AIM： To review all cases of Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada （VKH） disease in an Inflammatory eye Disease Service in Argentina and to describe the clinical profile and outcomes of ***： The records from patients with VKH disease between January 1980 and December 2008 were retrospectively analyzed for clinical profile, complications, and treatment. patients were classified according to their initial treatment in group 1： high corticosteroid dose [≥1 mg/（kg·d）] within 2wk of illness onset; group 2： high corticosteroid dose, 2 to 4wk of onset and group 3： patients who received the high dose after 1mo of illness onset, patients who received lower oral doses than 1 mg/（kg·d） without regarding the time of beginning of the ***： A total of 210 eyes of 105 patients were included. The mean age at presentation was 32.6±13y （range： 10-74y）, and 86.7% were female. The mean duration of follow up was 144±96.6mo. patients in the group 1 had significantly higher visual acuity than the other groups （p〈0.0001）, none had （loss of, or no） light perception at the end of follow up, whereas 24.7% patients in group 3 ended in light perception （p〈0.004）.CONCLUSION： patients with early high dose corticosteroid treatment have better visual acuity and fewer complications. proper timing in referral and treatment is critical for better visual outcome in VKH disease.

Dogs engage in play behavior at every age and the play bow is their most iconic playful ***,the function of this posture is still under ***,we selected the Czechoslovakian Wolfdog(CWD)as a model breed to clarify the function of the play *** analyzed frame-by-frame 118 sessions of 24 subjects and recorded 76 play bow *** found that all the play bows were performed in the visual field of the playmate suggesting that the sender takes into account the attentional state of the receiver when releasing the *** drawing survival curves and using log-rank test we found that play bow was mainly performed during a short pause in an ongoing session and that its performance triggered the playmate’s reaction *** findings show that play bow functions in restoring the partner motivation to ***,by using a sequential analysis and a generalized mixed model,we found no evidence supporting the metacommunicative function of the play *** signal did not necessarily precede a contact offensive behavior(e.g.,play biting and play pushing)and it was not affected by the level of asymmetry of the play *** conclusion,in CWDs play bow can be considered a visual signal useful to maintain the motivation to play in the ***,we suggest that the mismatched number of play bows emitted by the 2 players in a given session can be predictive of their different motivations to play.

In this work, we obtain good upper bounds for the diameter of any graph in terms of its minimum degree and its order, improving a classical theorem due to erdos, pach, pollack and Tuza. We use these bounds in order to study hyperbolic graphs （in the Gromov sense）. To compute the hyperbolicity constant is an almost intractable problem, thus it is natural to try to bound it in terms of some parameters of the graph. Let H（n, δ0） be the set of graphs G with n vertices and minimum degree 50, and J（n, Δ） be the set of graphs G with n vertices and maximum degree A. We study the four following extremal problems on graphs： a（n,δ0） = min{δ（G）｜ G ∈H（n, δ0）}, b（n, δ0） =- max{δ（G）｜ e ∈H（n, δ0）}, α（n, Δ） = min{δ（G） [ G ∈ J（n, Δ）} and β（n,Δ） = max{δ（G） ] G∈Π（n,Δ）}. In particular, we obtain bounds for b（n, δ0） and we compute the precise value of a（n, δ0）, α（n, Δ） and w（n, Δ） for all values of n, r0 and A, respectively.

Insufficient metabolic energy,in the form of adenosine triphosphate(ATp),and bacterial infections are among the main causes for the development of chronic *** we showed that the physi-ological inorganic polymer polyphosphate(polyp)massively accelerates wound healing both in animals(diabetic mice)and,when incorporated into mats,in patients with chronic ***,we focused on a hydrogel-based gel formulation,supplemented with both soluble sodium polyp(Na-polyp)and amor-phous calcium polyp nanoparticles(Ca-polyp-Np).exposure of human epidermal keratinocytes to the gel caused a significant increase in extracellular ATp level,an effect that was even enhanced when Na-polyp was combined with ***,it is shown that the added polyp in the gel is converted into a coacervate,leading to encapsulation and killing of *** data on human chronic wounds showed that the administration of hydrogel leads to the complete closure of these *** analysis of biopsies showed an increased granulation of the wounds and an enhanced microvessel *** results indicate that the polyp hydrogel,due to its properties to entrap bacteria and generate metabolic energy,is a very promising formulation for a new therapy for chronic wounds.

Background:A number of studies document the prevalence of Taenia solium infections in Nigeria,yet these studies do not cover porcine cysticercosis in private home slaughter slabs where there is no routine meat inspection and backyard pig keeping,slaughtering and sale are common ***:An environmental and sanitary assessment was conducted within two unregistered home pig slaughter slabs in selected parts of the Kaduna metropolis in *** premises were inspected for availability of basic facilities and questionnaires were used to elicit necessary informative *** were examined for taeniasis by stool microscopy and copro-antigen enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(copro-Ag eLISA)to ascertain *** slaughtered at the premises were examined for ***:Home slaughter conditions were substandard,unhygienic and lacked the basic facilities of a proper *** of porcine cysticercosis was 9.3%.The butchers participating in the study had very poor knowledge of *** infections and 30%tested positive for taeniasis by copro-Ag eLISA at the time of the ***:Home slaughter of pigs in the areas studied should be considered and integrated as a component of prevention and control programmes-particularly through educational interventions-in order to equip individuals involved with a good understanding of the risks associated with animal husbandry and human practices.

Hydrogen is considered an attractive alternative to fossil fuels,but only a small amount of it is produced from renewable energy,making it not such a clean energy carrier after *** hydrogen through water electrolysis is promising,but using a cost-effective and high-performing catalyst that has longterm stability is still a *** study exploits,for the first time,the potential of zinc oxide nanoparticles with diverse morphologies as catalysts for the electrocatalytic production of hydrogen from *** morphology of the nanoparticles(wires,cuboids,spheres)was easily regulated by changing the concentration of sodium hydroxide,used as the shape controlling agent,during the *** spherical morphology exhibited the highest electrocatalytic activity at the lowest potential *** spherical nanoparticles had the highest number of oxygen vacancies and lowest particle size compared to the other two morphologies,features directly linked to high catalytic ***,the nanowires were much more stable with repeated ***-functional theory showed that the presence of oxygen vacancies in all three morphologies led to diminished band gaps,which is of catalytic interest.

The antibacterial potential of silver nanoparticles（AgNps） resulted in their increasing incorporation into consumer,industrial and biomedical ***,human and environmental exposure to AgNps（either as an engineered product or a contaminant）supports the emergent research on the features conferring them different toxicity *** this study,30 ran AgNps coated with citrate or poly（ethylene glycol）（peG） were used to assess the influence of coating on the effects produced on a human hepatoma cell line（HepG2）,namely in terms of viability,apoptosis,apoptotic related genes,cell cycle and cyclins gene *** types of coated AgNps decreased cell proliferation and viability with a similar toxicity *** the concentrations used（11 and 5 μg/mL corresponding to IC50 and-IC10 levels,respectively） the amount of cells undergoing apoptosis was not significant and the apoptotic related genes BCL2（anti-apoptotic gene）and BAX（pro-apoptotic gene） were both ***,both AgNps affected HepG2 cell cycle progression at the higher concentration（11 μg/mL） by increasing the percentage of cells in S（synthesis phase） and G2（Gap 2 phase） *** the cell-cycle related genes,the expression of cyclin B1 and cyclin e1 genes were ***,this work has shown that citrate- and peG-coated AgNps impact on HepG2 apoptotic gene expression,cell cycle dynamics and cyclin regulation in a similar *** research is needed to determine the properties that confer AgNps at lower toxicity,since their use has proved helpful in several industrial and biomedical contexts.
