Prediction of Facial Profile Based on Morphometric Measurements and Profile Characteristics of Permanent Maxillary Central Incisor Teeth

The computation of facial profile from dental morphometrics has been a subject of great interest in forensic *** use of teeth to draw a profile and facial features is valuable in times of mass disasters when body remains are unavailable due to extreme *** study aims to identify and evaluate applicable parameters in the permanent maxillary central incisors and the face of an individual.A correlation of these parameters establishes a mathematical equation that further charts a tooth‑facial profile *** soft and hard tissue landmarks on the face in the frontal and the lateral profiles(using standardized photographs)and seven landmarks on the facial/labial surface of the clinical crown of the permanent maxillary central incisor(using casts of the maxilla)were identified for the *** on these,a set of eight horizontal and seven vertical parameters on the face and four parameters on the tooth were created for the *** and external correlations between the two were carried out and statistically analyzed.A logistic regression was made to predict the probability of the parameters most likely to be reproduced in the creation of the facial profile,based on tooth *** results indicated a definite correlation between the facial and the tooth *** the multiple parameters,a definite correlation in the horizontal dimension could be established between the mouth width and the mesiodistal width(MDW)of the *** the vertical dimension,a definite relationship existed between the crown height of the tooth and the width of the midface(zygoma‑mandible).There exist divergences in the correlation of tooth and facial parameters.

Machine learning for predicting the outcome of terminal ballistics events

Machine learning(ML) is well suited for the prediction of high-complexity,high-dimensional problems such as those encountered in terminal *** evaluate the performance of four popular ML-based regression models,extreme gradient boosting(XGBoost),artificial neural network(ANN),support vector regression(SvR),and Gaussian process regression(GP),on two common terminal ballistics’ problems:(a)predicting the v50ballistic limit of monolithic metallic armour impacted by small and medium calibre projectiles and fragments,and(b) predicting the depth to which a projectile will penetrate a target of semi-infinite *** achieve this we utilise two datasets,each consisting of approximately 1000samples,collated from public release *** demonstrate that all four model types provide similarly excellent agreement when interpolating within the training data and diverge when extrapolating outside this *** extrapolation is not advisable for ML-based regression models,for applications such as lethality/survivability analysis,such capability is *** circumvent this,we implement expert knowledge and physics-based models via enforced monotonicity,as a Gaussian prior mean,and through a modified loss *** physics-informed models demonstrate improved performance over both classical physics-based models and the basic ML regression models,providing an ability to accurately fit experimental data when it is available and then revert to the physics-based model when *** resulting models demonstrate high levels of predictive accuracy over a very wide range of projectile types,target materials and thicknesses,and impact conditions significantly more diverse than that achievable from any existing analytical *** with numerical analysis tools such as finite element solvers the ML models run orders of magnitude *** provide some general guidelines throughout for the development,application,and reporting of ML models in terminal ballist

On the l_2-stability of time-varying linear and nonlinear discrete-time MIMO systems

New conditions are derived for the l2-stability of time-varying linear and nonlinear discrete-time multiple-input multipleoutput （MIMO） systems, having a linear time time-invariant block with the transfer function F（z）, in negative feedback with a matrix of periodic/aperiodic gains A（k）, k = 0,1, 2,... and a vector of certain classes of non-monotone/monotone nonlinearities φp（-）, without restrictions on their slopes and also not requiring path-independence of their line integrals. The stability conditions, which are derived in the frequency domain, have the following features： i） They involve the positive definiteness of the real part （as evaluated on ｜z｜ = 1） of the product of Г （z） and a matrix multiplier function of z. ii） For periodic A（k）, one class of multiplier functions can be chosen so as to impose no constraint on the rate of variations A（k）, but for aperiodic A（k）, which allows a more general multiplier function, constraints are imposed on certain global averages of the generalized eigenvalues of （A（k ＋ 1）,A（k））, k = 1, 2 iii） They are distinct from and less restrictive than recent results in the literature.

Frequency-domain stability criteria for SISO and MIMO nonlinear feedback systems with constant and variable time-delays

New frequency-domain criteria are proposed for the L2-stability of both nonlinear single-input-single-output （SISO） and nonlinear multiple-input-multiple-output （MIMO） feedback systems, described by nonlinear integral equations. For SISO systems, the feedback block is a constant scalar gain in product with a linear combination of first-and-third-quadrant scalar nonlinearities （FATQNs） with time-delay argument functions; and, for MIMO systems, it is a constant matrix gain in product with a linear combination of vector FATQNs also with time-delay argument functions. In both the cases, the delay function in the arguments of the nonlinearities may be, in general, i） zero, ii） a constant, iii） variable-time and iv） fixed-history （only for SISO systems）. The stability criteria are derived from certain recently introduced algebraic inequalities concerning the scalar and vector nonlinearities, and involve the causal＋anticausal O＇Shea-Zames-Falb multiplier function （scalar for SISO systems and matrix for MIMO systems）. Its time-domain gl-norm is constrained by the coefficients and characteristic parameters （CPs） of the nonlinearities and, in the case of the time-varying delay, by its rate of variation also. The stability criteria, which are independent of Lyapunov-Krasovskii or Lyapunov-Razumikhin functions and do not seem to be derivable by invoking linear matrix inequalities, seem to be the first of their kind. Two numerical examples for each of SISO and MIMO systems illustrate the criteria.

ACHIEvING THRESHOLD BARRIER OF 1 nm ROUGHNESS vALUE OF SILICON SURFACE BY DIAMOND TURNING

nm roughness value of silicon surface by diamond turning is obtained firstly and three novel techniques are proposed. The surface integrity is studied in detail by using atomic force microscope, scanning electron microscope, and stylus surface instrument. The diamond tool sharpness has a considerable influence on the machined surface, therefore a novel technique—brightness modulation for measuring accurately the edge of the cutter is proposed. Mirror surfaces are assessed by another novel technique—a measure of their reflectivity. A third technique, single grit diamond machining is carried out. It supplies a experimental evidence for verifying the obtained high quality turned surfaces.

Frequency-domain L2-stability conditions for time-varying linear and nonlinear MIMO systems

The paper deals with the g2-stability analysis of multi-input-multi-output （MIMO） systems, governed by integral equations, with a matrix of periodic/aperiodic time-varying gains and a vector of monotone, non-monotone and quasi-monotone nonlin- earities. For nonlinear MIMO systems that are described by differential equations, most of the literature on stability is based on an application of quadratic forms as Lyapunov-function candidates. In contrast, a non-Lyapunov framework is employed here to derive new and more general g2-stability conditions in the frequency domain. These conditions have the following features： i） They are expressed in terms of the positive definiteness of the real part of matrices involving the transfer function of the linear time-invariant block and a matrix multiplier function that incorporates the minimax properties of the time-varying linear/nonlinear block, ii） For certain cases of the periodic time-varying gain, they contain, depending on the multiplier function chosen, no restrictions on the normalized rate of variation of the time-varying gain, but, for other periodic/aperiodic time-varying gains, they do. Overall, even when specialized to periodic-coefficient linear and nonlinear MIMO systems, the stability conditions are distinct from and less restrictive than recent results in the literature. No comparable results exist in the literature for aperiodic time-varying gains. Furthermore, some new stability results concerning the dwell-time problem and time-varying gain switching in linear and nonlinear MIMO systems with periodic/aperiodic matrix gains are also presented. Examples are given to illustrate a few of the stability theorems.

GC-MS analysis of Cocus nucifera flower extract and its effects on heterogeneous symptoms of polycystic ovarian disease in female Wistar rats

AIM: To evaluate the effect of Cocus nucifera L. flowers in reducing the major multiple symptoms of letrozole-induced polycystic ovarian disease(PCOD) in female rats. METHOD: Female, virgin Wistar rats were treated with letrozole(1 mg/kg body wt) to induce PCOD, and after 21 days of induction rats were administered orally with 100 and 200 mg·kg-1 of Cocus nucifera flower aqueous extract, respectively. Estrus cycle and blood sugar were monitored once a week throughout the study. After scarification, various biochemical parameters, such as antioxidant status(superoxide dismutase(SOD) and glutathione reductase(GSH)) of the uterus homogenate, lipid profile(total cholesterol(TC), high density lipoprotein(HDL), low density lipoprotein(LDL), and triglycerides(TG)) of the serum were determined. Weights of the uterus and ovaries were separately monitored. The characteristics of changes in the ovary were evaluated by histopathological studies. RESULTS: GC-MS analysis of the aqueous extract showed the presence of volatile and pharmacologically active phytoconstituents. C. nucifera flower extract-treated groups showed estrus cyclicity and increased uterus weight which indicates the estrogenic effect. The improved blood sugar level, ideal lipid profile, good antioxidant status, and histopathology results revealed the recovery from poly cystic ovaries. CONCLUSION: The results indicate that C. nucifera flower is a potential medicine for the treatment of PCOD and this study supports the traditional uses of C. nucifera flower.

Coffee is commonly consumed beverage in the world and it has been suggested to have beneficial *** acids(CGAs)are main ingredient of coffee beans which has been extensively used in nutraceuticals and ***,various therapeutic effects of chlorogenic acids have been ***,there are limited studies to investigate its anticancer *** the present study,we have used chlorogenic acid complex(CGA7)a decaffeinated water soluble green coffee bean extract to evaluate its cytotoxic effect on human and mouse cancer cell lines by using different *** our results we found CGA7 treatment induces cell death in a dose and time dependent manner in different cancer cell ***,CGA7 induced apoptosis was characterized by DNA fragmentation,PARP-1 cleavage,caspase-9 activation,and down regulation of Bcl-2,an anti-apoptotic protein and up regulation of pro-apoptotic protein *** findings indicated that CGA7 complex a potent anticancer molecule found in green coffee beans could be a safe bioactive ingredient for prevention of cancer.

The Best Answers？ Think Twice： Identifying Commercial Campagins in the CQA Forums

In an emerging trend, more and more Internet users search for information from Community Question and Answer （CQA） websites, as interactive communication in such websites provides users with a rare feeling of trust. More often than not, end users look for instant help when they browse the CQA websites for the best answers. Hence, it is imperative that they should be warned of any potential commercial campaigns hidden behind the answers. Existing research focuses more on the quality of answers and does not meet the above need. Textual similarities between questions and answers are widely used in previous research. However, this feature will no longer be effective when facing commercial paid posters. More context information, such as writing templates and a user’s reputation track, needs to be combined together to form a new model to detect the potential campaign answers. In this paper, we develop a system that automatically analyzes the hidden patterns of commercial spam and raises alarms instantaneously to end users whenever a potential commercial campaign is detected. Our detection method integrates semantic analysis and posters’ track records and utilizes the special features of CQA websites largely different from those in other types of forums such as microblogs or news reports. Our system is adaptive and accommodates new evidence uncovered by the detection algorithms over time. validated with real-world trace data from a popular Chinese CQA website over a period of three months, our system shows great potential towards adaptive detection of CQA spams.
