The highly effective direct-acting antivirals(DAAs)for the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus(HCV)infection w.re w.ll-received by both patients and physicians as sustained virological response(SVR)w.s associated w.th an improved overall survival in patients w.th stable liver disease,even in case of cirrhosis(1).Yet,at that time these results w.re derived from retrospective cohort studies w.th long-term follow.up after interferon-based *** patients w.th compensated liver disease there is confidence that SVR is a clinically relevant endpoint based on consistent positive results w.th smart use of statistics in numerous cohort ***,how.ver,there remains a need for long-term follow.up data show.ng a clinical benefit of DAA-induced SVR,preferably w.th high-quality prospective *** results from the French ANRS CO22 Hepather cohort,as published by *** and colleagues in the April issue of the Lancet,thus bring an important contribution to the field(2).It’s the first prospective cohort study w.th reasonable follow.up time to assess all-cause mortality after DAA therapy.

Hepatitis C virus （HCV） infection is one of the maj.r causes of chronic liver disease, including cirrhosis and liver cancer and is therefore, the most common indication for liver transplantation. Conventional antiviral drugs such as pegylated interferon-alpha, taken in combination w.th ribavirin, represent a milestone in the therapy of this disease. How.ver, due to different viral and host factors, clinical success can be achieved only in approximately half of patients, making urgent the requirement of exploiting alternative approaches for HCV therapy. Fortunately, recent advances in the understanding of HCV viral replication and host cell interactions have opened new.possibilities for therapeutic intervention. The most recent technologies, such as small interference RNA mediated gene-silencing, antisense oligonucleotides （ASO）, or viral vector based gene delivery systems, have paved the w.y to develop novel therapeutic modalities for HCV. In this review. w. outline the application of these technologies in the context of HCV therapy. In particular, w. w.ll focus on the new.y defined role of cellular microRNA （miR-222） in viral replication and discuss its potential for HCV molecular therapy.

Controlling the strain in tw.-dimensional （2D） materials is an interesting avenue to tailor the mechanical properties of nanoelectromechanical systems. Here, w. demonstrate a technique to fabricate ultrathin tantalum oxide nanomechanical resonators w.th large stress by the laser oxidation of nano-drumhead resonators composed of tantalum diselenide （TaSe2）, a layered 2D material belonging to the metal dichalcogenides. Before the study of their mechanical properties w.th a laser interferometer, w. verified the oxidation and crystallinity of the freely suspended tantalum oxide using high-resolution electron microscopy. w. demonstrate that the stress of tantalum oxide resonators increases by 140 MPa （w.th respect to pristine TaSe2 resonators）, w.ich causes an enhancement in the quality factor （14 times larger） and resonance frequency （9 times larger） of these resonators.
