Thermogravimetric,kinetic study and gas emissions analysis of the thermal decomposition of waste-derived fuels

A wide range of wastes can potentially be used to generate thermal and electrical energy.The co-combustion of several types of waste as part of water-containing waste-derived fuels is a promising method for their recovery.In this research,we use thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry to study the thermal behavior and kinetics of coal slime,biomass,waste oils,and blends on their basis.We also analyze the concentrations of gaseous emissions.The results show that biomass,oils,and coal slime significantly affect each other in the course of their co-combustion when added to slurry fuels.The preparation of coal-water slurry based on slime and water reduced the ignition and burnout temperature by up to 16%.Adding biomass and waste oils additionally stimulated the slurry ignition and burnout,which occurred at lower temperatures.Relative to dry coal slime,threshold ignition temperatures and burnout temperatures decreased by 6%–9%and 17%–25%,respectively.Also,the use of biomass and waste oils as part of slurries inhibited NOхand SO_(2)emission by 2.75 times.According to the kinetic analysis,added biomass and waste turbine oil provide a 28%–51%reduction in the activation energy as compared to a coal-water slurry without additives.

This paper proposes a novel approach for identifying distributed dynamic loads in the time domain.Using polynomial andmodal analysis,the load is transformed intomodal space for coefficient identification.This allows the distributed dynamic load with a two-dimensional form in terms of time and space to be simultaneously identified in the form of modal force,thereby achieving dimensionality reduction.The Impulse-based Force Estimation Algorithm is proposed to identify dynamic loads in the time domain.Firstly,the algorithm establishes a recursion scheme based on convolution integral,enabling it to identify loads with a long history and rapidly changing forms over time.Secondly,the algorithm introduces moving mean and polynomial fitting to detrend,enhancing its applicability in load estimation.The aforementioned methodology successfully accomplishes the reconstruction of distributed,instead of centralized,dynamic loads on the continuum in the time domain by utilizing acceleration response.To validate the effectiveness of the method,computational and experimental verification were conducted.

Schiff base metal complexes are of great importance in pharmaceutical science owing to their unique chemical properties, which enable them to exhibit diverse biological activities such as anti-bacterial,anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-tumor properties. Furthermore, Schiff base metal complexes can serve as reagents and catalysts in chemical reactions. This review aims to provide an overview of our recently published studies on Cu(Ⅱ) and Pd(Ⅱ) complexes derived from proline Schiff base ligands. We also discuss the potential applications of these metal complexes in the fields of antibacterial and chiral resolution.

Catalytic co-combustion of biomass and brown coal in a fluidized bed:Economic and environmental benefits

The work is devoted to the study of combustion of brown coal,pine sawdust,and their mixtures in a fluidized bed of catalyst at 600-750℃.It is shown that an increase in the content of sawdust in a mixture with brown coal leads to an increase in the burnout degree of solid fuel from 94.4%to 99.9%,while the emission of greenhouse gases in the form of CO_(2)CO and NOxis reduced(CO_(2)from the biomass is not included in the balance).The high content of alkaline earth metal oxides(CaO and MgO)in the mineral part of brown coal,sawdust,and their mixtures eliminates the emission of sulfur oxides and the slagging of heat-exchange surfaces during the combustion in a fluidized bed of catalyst.The optimal temperature,when the highest burnout degree of the above fuels is achieved in the combustion is 750℃.It is also shown that the increase in temperature and the content of sawdust in the composition of the fuel mixtures has a positive effect on the economic and environmental process indicators.

The article describes ethylene polymerization reactions with transition metal catalysts based on complexes of CoCl_(2) and FeCl_(2) with an N,N,N-tridentate ligand 2,6-bis[1-(2,6-dimethylphenylimino)ethyl]pyridine. The complexes are converted into polymerization catalysts by reacting them either with polymethylalumoxane (MAO) or with a combination of Al(C2H5)2Cl and Mg(C4H9)2 at an [Al]:[Mg] ratio of ~3. Both MAO-activated complexes readily polymerize ethylene at 35 ℃ with the formation of linear, low molecular weight polymers with a narrow molecular weight distribution. The same complexes, when activated with the Al(C2H5)2Cl-Mg(C4H9)2 combination, form multi-center catalysts and generate polyethylenes with a broad molecular weight distribution.

By the reaction of poly(acryloyl chloride) with N-(3-aminopropyl)imidazole, poly(N-(3-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)propyl)acrylamide) was synthesized. The new polymer contains an imidazole ring removed from the main chain by a spacer of five bonds. The structure and purity, molecular weight, hydrodynamic and thermosensitive properties of the obtained sample were studied by1H-and13C-NMR, FTIR spectroscopy, acid-base titration, light scattering, turbidimetry and viscometry. The observed ability of the imidazole-containing polymer to form and destroy associates in water-salt solutions at pH 6.6-7.4 and temperatures of 29-48℃ indicates that these are promising candidates for designing complex biomedical systems. The new polymer is able to form complexes with oligo-DNA more actively than poly(1-vinylimidazole), which is of interest for gene delivery applications. The polymer cross-linked with epichlorohydrin gives micro-relief coatings on the plastic surface, and the modified surface is able to attach negatively charged objects. This thermo-and pH-sensitive polymer modification can be applied to create finely controlled surfaces for cell culturing.

In 2021,the Belle collaboration reported the first observation of a new structure in theψ(2S)γfinal state produced in the two-photon fusion process.In the hadronic molecule picture,this new structure can be associatedwith the shallow isoscalar D*D* bound state and as such is an excellent candidate for the spin-2 partner of the X(3872)with the quantum numbers J^(PC)=2^(++)conventionally named X_(2).

A design of a new heterogeneous code for LBM simulations is proposed.By heterogeneous computing wemean a collaborative computation on CPU and GPU,which is characterized by the following features:the data is distributed between CPU and GPU memory spaces taking advantage of both parallel hierarchies;the capabilities of both SIMT GPU and SIMD GPU parallelization are used for calculations;the algorithms in use efficiently conceal the CPU-GPU data exchange;the subdivision of the computing task is performed with an account for the strong points of both processing units:high performance of GPU,low latency,and advanced memory hierarchy of CPU.This code is a continuation of our work in the development of LRnLA codes for LBM.Previous LRnLA codes had good efficiency both for CPU and GPU computing,and allowed GPU simulation performed on data stored in CPU RAM without performance loss on CPU-GPU data transfer.In the new code,we use methods and instruments that can be flexibly adapted to GPU and CPU instruction sets.We present the theoretical study of the performance of the proposed code and suggest implementation techniques.The bottlenecks are identified.As a result,we conclude that larger problems can be simulated with higher efficiency in the heterogeneous system.

Cargo ship sailing within the ice channel that an assisting icebreaker tracks in the compact ice cover is the usual navigation practice for difficult ice conditions in freezing seas and Arcticwater areas.When the icebreaker or an ahead vessel stops before the insuperable ice obstacle or because of engine trouble,the danger of an emergency appears,namely of collision with the icebreaker or the ahead ship,if the interval between them is not sufficient for effective braking and stopping.The paper presents the equation that describes the ship braking process within an ice channel and includes the thrust of the propeller that works under the reverse regime.The specific of this regime is the following:the ship continues the motion‘forwards’and the propeller rotates‘backwards’.An analytical method for description of the ship propeller work on the reverse regime is absent because of the detached flow on its blades.The paper describes the developed empirical method of this regime parameterization on the basis of serial models of propeller testing.The outcomes of this investigation are applied to a ship braking process simulation and the evaluation of the safe interval between the ship and the icebreaker.
