Novel Ca_(8)CuRE(PO_(4))_(7)where RE^(3+)=Eu^(3+),Tb^(3+),Dy^(3+),Ho^(3+)and Er^(3+)were synthesized by a solid-state method in *** structures of the samples were characterized by powder X-ray diffraction using Rietveld refinement to determine the occupation of crystal *** samples are found to have a centrosymmetric structure with space group R3c,as shown by dielectric *** synthesized Ca_(8)CuRE(PO_(4))_(7)samples have multifunctional *** Cu^(2+)ions provide antibacterial properties,while the rare earth elements ions exhibit luminescence properties,and theβ-Ca_3(PO_(4))_(2)-type host is *** photoluminescence properties of RE^(3+)ions were studied and compared with other simmilar Ca_(8)mRE(PO_(4))_(7)phosphates,where m is a divalent *** photoluminescence intensity quenching in terms of energy transfer from RE^(3+)to Cu^(2+)is *** bioactive properties were studied in relation to antibacterial activity against *** and *** syntesized Ca_(8)CuRE(PO_(4))_(7)samples demonstrate very high and stable inhibition of bacteria *** correlation between crystal structure and properties is *** combining multiple approaches to the directio nal design of such materials,several important properties within a single chemical compound to achieve biovisualization and bioactive properties simultaneously can be combined.

Effect of Ta_(2)O_(5)nanoparticles on bioactivity,composition,structure,in vitro and in vivo behavior of PEO coatings on mg-alloy

The present study investigates the physical and chemical characteristics,behavior in vitro and in vivo,and biocompatibility of coatings containing Ta_(2)O_(5),which are obtained by plasma electrolytic oxidation(PEO)on mA8 magnesium *** obtained coatings demonstrate in vivo biocompatibility and in vitro *** to the base PEO coating,the layers containing Ta_(2)O_(5)facilitate the development of apatite in simulated body fluid,suggesting that the inclusion of nanoparticles improves bioactivity of the *** was found that incorporation of Ta_(2)O_(5)nanoparticles increases roughness and porosity of the formed layers by increasing particle concentration in electrolytes for the PEO process contributing to sufficient soft tissue ingrowth in *** on in vivo studies,these coatings also provide favorable tissue response and minimal inflammatory reaction in comparison with the bare magnesium alloy due to protection of living tissues from deleterious corrosion events of magnesium implant such as local alkalization and intense hydrogen *** results obtained in the present study concluded biocompatibility,tissue integration of the PEO coatings containing Ta_(2)O_(5)nanoparticles making them a promising protective layer for biodegradable magnesium implants.

In this study,a calcium-phosphate coating was formed on a mg-mn-Ce alloy by the plasma electrolytic oxidation(PEO).The antibiotic vancomycin,widely used in the treatment of infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus(***),was impregnated into the *** with vancomycin showed high bactericidal activity against *** mechanical and electrochemical properties of the formed coatings were studied,as well as in vitro cytotoxicity tests and in vivo tests on mature male rats were *** to SEm,EDS,XRD and XPS data,coatings had a developed morphology and contained hydroxyapatite,which indicates high *** analysis of roughness of coatings without and with vancomycin did not reveal any differences,confirming the high roughness of the *** electrochemical tests,an increase in corrosion resistance by more than two times after the application of PEO coatings was *** to the results of an in vivo study,after 28 days of the implantation of samples with calcium phosphate PEO coating and vancomycin,no signs of inflammation were observed,while an inflammatory reaction developed in the area of implantation of bare alloy,followed by *** release tests from the coatings show a sharp decrease in the concentration of the released antibiotic on day 7 and then a gradual decrease until day *** the experiment,no significant deviations in the condition and behavior of the animals were observed;clinical tests did not reveal a systemic toxic reaction.

This paper theoretically studies the impurity states and the effects of impurity concentration and configuration on the optical,electrical,and statistical properties of CdSe nanoplatelets(NPLs).An image charge-based model of electron-impurity interaction is *** charge-carrier energy spectra and corresponding wave functions depending on the impurity number and configuration are *** electron binding energies are calculated for different NPL *** is shown that the image charge-based interaction potential that arises due to the dielectric constants mismatch is much stronger than the interaction potential that does not take such a mismatch into ***,it is demonstrated that the binding energies are increasing with the number of *** calculate the canonical partition function using the energy levels of the electron,which in turn is used to obtain the mean energy,heat capacity,and entropy of the non-interacting electron *** thermodynamic properties of the non-interacting electron gas that depend on the geometric parameters of the NPL,impurity number,configuration,and temperature are studied.

Nonmagnetic impurity scattering is known to shift up the Ginzburg-Landau parameter k of a *** this case,when the system is initially in type I,it can change its magnetic response,crossing the intertype domain with k~1 between the two standard superconductivity types and arriving at type *** the present work we demonstrate that the impact of disorder can be much more profound in the presence of the multiband structure of the charge carrier *** particular,when the band diffusivities differ from each other,the intertype domain tends to expand significantly,including points with k>>1 that belong to deep type-Ⅱ in conventional single-band *** finding sheds light on the nontrivial disorder effect and significantly complements earlier results on the enlargement of the intertype domain in clean multiband superconductors.

The NATO agreement STANAG 4569 defines the protection levels for the occupants of logistic and light armored *** Allied Engineering Publication,AEP-55,volume 2 document outlines the test conditions for underbelly improvised explosive device(IEDs),which must be buried in water-saturated sandy *** use of sandy gravel has some drawbacks,for instance reproducibility,time consumption,and *** paper focuses on the investigation of four alternatives to sandy gravel,which could produce similar specific and cumulative impulses:a concrete pot filled with water,a concrete pot filled with quartz sand,a steel pot without filling and a concrete pot filled with glass spheres(diameter 200μm—300μm)and different water *** impulses are measured with a ring technology developed at the Fraunhofer EmI.A numerical soil model based on the work of marrs,2014 and Fi serov a,2006 and considering the soil moisture was used to simulate the experiments with glass spheres at different water contents,showing much better agreement with the experiments than the classical Laine&Sandvik model,even for high saturation *** results can be used to create new test conditions at original scale that are more cost-effective,more reproducible and simpler to manage in comparison to the current tests carried out with STANAG sandy gravel.

Assessment of sediment connectivity using modelling and field-based approaches in the Slavíč River catchment(moravskoslezskéBeskydy mts,Czech Republic)

mountain streams act as conveyors of sediments within the river continuum,where the physical transport of sediments between river reaches through the catchment or between individual parts(e.g.,between hillslopes and channels)of the catchment is *** study focused on sediment connectivity analysis in the SlavíčRiver catchment in the moravskoslezskéBeskydy mts in the eastern part of the Czech *** connectivity index and connectivity index target modelling were combined with an analysis of anthropogenic ***,field mapping,grain size of bed sediments and stream power analysis were used to obtain information about connectivity in the *** on the analysis and obtained results,terrain topography is the current main driving factor affecting the connectivity of sediment movement in the SlavíčRiver ***,the modelling provided valuable information about high sediment connectivity despite different recent land use conditions(highly forested area of the catchment)than those in historical times from the 16th to 19th centuries when the SlavíčRiver catchment was highly deforested and sediment connectivity was probably *** analysis of anthropogenic interventions,field mapping,grain size of bed sediments and stream power analysis revealed more deceleration of sediment movement through the catchment,decreased sediment connectivity with bed erosion,and gradual river channel process transformation in some *** mapping has identified various natural formations and human-induced changes impacting the longitudinal and lateral connectivity in the Slavíč*** instance,embankments along 48%of the river's length,both on the right and left banks,significantly hinder lateral sediment supply to the *** power index analysis indicates increased energy levels in the flowing water in the river's upper reaches(up to 404.8 W m^(-2)).This high energy is also observed in certain downstream sections(up to 337.6 W

Interest in metal nanoparticles as nanoscale drug-carrying vehicles has been *** such an aspect,lanthanide metal nanoparticles are particularly ***,we report praseodymium nanoparticles as a novel anticancer therapeutic transporting *** material was made as a composite with the supramolecular host polymer,poly-β-*** praseodymium nanorods were characterized using standard analytical techniques,including X-ray diffraction(XRD),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),and thermogravimetric analysis(TGA).In addition,they were imaged using transmission electron *** nanostructures are a long rod-shaped material with 2.0±0.1μm in length and 230±10 nm in *** material shows a saturation magnetization value above 30 emu/g with a coercivity value of 130 *** nanocarrier is freighted with the drug 5-fluorouracil,and the encapsulation efficiency is 76.09%.The drug release is continuous from the nanocarrier(polymer-containing praseodymium nanoparticles)and proceeds for above 250 *** in vitro cytotoxicities of the blank nanocarrier and the 5-fluorouracil-loaded one are deduced by testing them on mCF-7 and vero(non-cancerous)cell *** cytotoxicity on the cancerous cell lines is observed,whereas the non-cancerous cells are *** IC_(50)values on the cell lines are reported.

Red blood cells(RBCs)are the most abundant human blood *** aggregation and deformation strongly determine blood viscosity which impacts hemorheology and *** turn,RBC properties depend on di®erent endogenous and exogenous *** such factor is nitric oxide(NO),which is mainly produced by endothelial cells(EC)from L-arginine amino acid in the circulatory *** the mechanisms of the RBC-endothelium interplay are not clear up to date and considering its possible clinical importance,the aims of this study are to investigate in vitro:(1)The e®ect of L-arginine induced NO on RBC aggregation and adhesion to endothelium;(2)the NO e®ect on RBC aggregation and deformation induced by L-arginine and sodium nitroprusside without the presence of endothelium in the *** RBC aggregation and adhesion to a monolayer of EC were studied using optical tweezers(OT).The RBC deformability and aggregation without endothelium in the samples were studied using the°ow chamber method and myrenne *** con¯rmed that NO increases deformability and decreases aggregation of *** showed that the soluble guanylate cyclase pathway appears to be the only NO signaling pathway *** the samples with the endothelium,the\bell-shaped"dependence of RBC aggregation force on L-arginine concentration was observed,which improves our knowledge about the process of NO production by ***,data related to L-arginine accumulation by endothelium were obtained:Necessity of the presence of extracellular L-arginine stated by other authors was put under *** our study,NO decreased the RBC-endothelium adhesion,however,the tendency appeared to be weak and was not con¯rmed in another set of *** our knowledge,this is the¯rst attempt to measure the forces of RBC adhesion to endothelium monolayer with OT.
