Efficacy and safety of semaglutide in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease

Circulating Th17 and Tc17 Cells and Their Imbalance with Regulatory T Cells Is Associated with Myocardial Infarction in Young Indian Patients

Background: Activated inflammatory cells are found in coronary plaques as well as peripheral circulation in patients with acute coronary syndrome. We explored the circulating T cell profile, their reactivity to self-antigens and plasma cytokine levels in Indian patients with Myocardial Infarction. Methods and Results: Intracellular expression of interferon-γ Interleukin (IL)-4, IL-17, IL-10 and Foxp3 were determined in CD4+ and CD8+ T cells using flow cytometry in patients with ST elevated myocardial infarction (STEMI) (N = 79) and controls (N = 80). Cytokines were measured using Milliplex kit and T cell reactivity was studied by CFSE dilution. Statistical analysis was performed using SPSS software. Patients with myocardial infarction showed higher proportion of IL-17 expressing CD4+ and CD8+ T cells (Th17 and Tc17) and elevated levels of IL-6 and IL-17 in plasma with significant reduction in circulating Tregs. Th1, Th2 and CD4+CD28null cells were not significantly different in patients compared to healthy individuals. The ratio of Th17 and Tc17 to Tregs showed an independent association with STEMI with an adjusted odds ratio of 2.92 (95% CI: 1.73 - 4.92), P + and CD8+ T cells secreting IL-17 and Tregs is associated with acute myocardial infarction. HSP60 and Ox-LDL may contribute to this response and pathogenesis of AMI in Indian population.

Quantification of urban expansion helps us to understand human induced effects on the environment in a temporal scale. Growing urbanization in Bangalore has resulted in demand for more space and resources. Since last 15 years the landuse and landcover of Bangalore area has been changed drastically due to increase in settlement, urban infrastructure, opening of roads and metros etc. Using geospatial tools, we studied the changes in landuse and landcover over 19 years (1992-2011) of period and changes in transport network over 41 years (1970-2011) in parts of Bangalore. Thus, the current study shows that the built-up area has been increased drastically, tree cover areas have been converted to agricultural lands and agricultural lands to built-up areas due to urbanization. There are also changes in drainage pattern, transport network and encroachment of water bodies. Thus the whole environment is getting affected adversely due to unplanned and rapid urban sprawl.

LTT switch unit for capacitive energy storages

When the capacitor cell is discharged in the short-circuit mode, the current pulse amplitude and duration are maximal. Therefore, this mode is the most severe for discharge switches of capacitive energy storage. The characteristics of the transient process of the discharge capacitive energy storage and the current loads acting in the facility discharge circuit have been defined for this mode. The test bench for definition of the LTT(Light Triggered Thyristors) loading capacity is described. The limiting characteristics have been experimentally obtained for LTT, at which there emerges the thermo-generation *** process of OFF-ON switching of LTTs has been investigated, the necessity is shown to use the speedup R-C circuits to ensure fast and stable transition of LTT into the conducting state. The design of the switch unit for the capacitive energy storage comprising LTTs and crowbar diodes is described, and the transient processes of current switching in crowbar diodes are considered. The tests carried out during switching of pul se current up to 100 kA at a voltage of 6 kv have confirmed the workability of the switch unit.

Nuclear Power in the Fuel and Energy Complex of Ukraine

Nuclear power is a powerful and effective energy branch in Ukraine. There are currently 4 active nuclear power stations （NPS） and 13 operational vvER energy units, producing a total power of 11880 MW, in the country. According to the data collected from the International Agency of Nuclear-Power Energy, Ukraine is in seventh place for the largest supply of uranium on the planet. The use of nuclear power in Ukraine includes： extraction and processing uranium ore, production of UF6, production of zirconia rental and purveyances from a zirconia alloy, production of heat-radiating collections, storage of exhaust nuclear fuel and nuclear wastes. The realisation of uranium isotopic enrichment is the main problem in the structure of organisation in nuclear fuel production in Ukraine. This country has a unique station, non-operative Chemobyl NPS, where different types of wastes are located. Two factories are currently being built there in order to process the liquid and solid radio-active wastes. In perspective, Ukrainian nuclear-power energy will be enriched with new nuclear-power units and security systems to ensure safe manufacturing.

New Approach for Isolation of Individual Caseins from Cow Milk by the Preparative Electrophoresis

This paper carried out a comparative analysis of different types of electrophoretic systems which were used for the analysis of casein complex from cow milk (polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis: for the neutral and acidic native conditions, in gradient variant, the presence of sodium dodecyl sulphate or with including urea). Taking into attention the separation efficiency, complexity of electrophoretic system, the impact of system components, we have selected the anode system of the homogeneous gel in the presence of urea as the basis for the preparation of casein fractions. It also changed the composition and the structure of the electrophoretic apparatus. The changes allow purification of casein fractions up to several grams during one stage of treatment (for 5 hours). The purified casein fractions were tested for the homogeneity and have been recommended for using in the biomedical researches, including the processes of the formation of the bioactive peptides.
