In a new world era, where financial systems are being restructured, manufacturing insight reconsidered and ways of doing business is changing, the foundry industry has to adapt herself to the winds of change by placing all her inputs onto the table and reevaluate them to fit into this new era. The inherent strengths of the foundry industry alone would not be enough to fit in this change process, where careful and intelligent operation of the back offcie and the front office of the foundry should come into the picture. The recent global crisis and previous ones have had positive effects on the improvement of foundry competitiveness by opening opportunities to change and "clean the house". The survival strategies, as well as what actions to be taken for growth and maintaining a strong foot print in this complicated atmosphere, is discussed in several headlines. In the long run, survival of individual foundries depends on well managed orchestration by the "decision makers" of each individual component of the foundry. Sustainability of the whole is the sum of survival capabilities of its components and the management of their harmonization.

We used geographical information system to analyze changes in forest ecosystem functions, structure and composition in a typical department of forest management area consisting of four forest management planning units in Turkey. To assess these effects over a 25 year period we compiled data from three forest management plans that were made in 1986, 2001 and 2011. Temporal changes in forest ecosystem functions were estimated based on the three pillars of forest sustainability： economics, ecology and socio-culture. We assessed a few indicators such as land-use and forest cover, forest types,tree species, development stage, stand age classes, crown closure, growing stock and its increment, and timber biomass. The results of the case study suggested a shift in forest values away from economic values toward ecological and socio-cultural values over last two planning periods. Forest ecosystem structure improved, due mainly to increasing forest area, decreasing non-forest areas（especially in settlement and agricultural areas）, forestation on forest openings, rehabilitation of degraded forests, conversion of even-aged forests to uneven-aged forests and conversion of coppice forests to high forests with greater growing stock increments. There were also favorable changes in forest management planning approaches.

AIM:To evaluate the performance of dominant eye(DE) for color vision discrimination ability among the medical students with normal color ***:Total of 50 students studying at Baskent University Faculty of Medicine,including 31 males(62%) and 19 females(38%),with visual acuity of 20/20 and without congenital color vision deficiency(CCvD) evaluated by Ishihara pseudoisochromatic plate test(IPPT) were recruited for this prospective comparative study upon their voluntary *** was determined by the gündogan *** color discrimination ability was examined with the FarnsworthMunsell 100 hue(FM100) *** was applied by two days interval to all subjects for the three times while two eyes(TE),right eye(RE) and left eye(LE) were seeing for detecting red-green(r/g),blue-yellow(b/y) local color spectral regions error *** error scores were evaluated for both in DE and non-dominant(NDE).P values below 0.05 were considered to be statistically ***:The students aged 21.18±2.52 years(mean±SD).Without sex difference the RE and the LE dominancy were found 22(44%) and 28(56%) respectively and FM 100 test total error scores of DE in both r/g-b/y regions were found without gender difference 24.12±14.70,34.68±18.95,*** the NDE in both,r/gb/y regions error scores without gender difference were 32.20±19.21,36.24±17.56,*** difference of total error scores between the DE and NDE was found as 58.80±29.92,68.44±*** statistical differences among the DE and the NDE in r/g local region and total error scores were found significant in both genders(Pvision discrimination performance ability was found prominent for *** superiority was attributed to higher sensitivity of the r/g local color spectral *** conclude that DE has priority in r/g color spectral region,probably including inhibition of NDE.

Background:Adenotonsillar hypertrophy can produce cardiopulmonary disease in ***,it is unclear whether adenotonsillar hypertrophy causes *** study evaluated carotid intimamedia thickness and carotid arterial stiffness in children with adenotonsillar ***:The study included 40 children with adenotonsillar hypertrophy(age:5-10 years)and 36 healthy children with similar age and body mass *** blood pressure,diastolic blood pressure,and pulse pressure were measured in all *** intima-media thickness,carotid arterial systolic diameter,and carotid arterial diastolic diameter were measured using a high-resolution ultrasound *** on these measurements,carotid arterial strain,carotid artery distensibility,beta stiffness index,and elasticity modulus were ***:Carotid intima-media thickness was greater in children with adenotonsillar hypertrophy(0.36±0.05 mm vs.0.34±0.04 mm,P=0.02)compared to healthy *** stiffness index(3.01±1.22 vs.2.98±0.98,P=0.85),elasticity modulus(231.39±99.23 vs.226.46±83.20,P=0.88),carotid arterial strain(0.17±0.06 vs.0.17±0.04,P=0.95),and carotid artery distensibility(13.14±3.88 vs.12.92±3.84,P=0.75)were similar between children with adenotonsillar hypertrophy and the healthy ***:The present study revealed increased carotid intima-media thickness in children with adenotonsillar *** risk of subclinical atherosclerosis may be higher in children with adenotonsillar hypertrophy.

The composite tumors of the liver are very rare,including the coexistence of HCC(hepatocellular carcinoma)with NEC(neuroendocrine carcinoma).The rare occurrence of these tumors necessitates more reported cases in order to fully understand their clinical characteristics,behaviors and *** is described an incidental collision tumor of HCC-NEC,along with a review of the literature focusing on their clinicopathological findings and *** tumor presented here was found incidentally in the hepatectomy specimen of a 56-yearold man who had undergone liver transplantation for rapidly progressive liver failure because of alcoholic hepatitis and *** and laboratory examinations did not demonstrate tumor-related *** macroscopic examination,two sharply defined and distinctive areas(1.7 cm and 0.6 cm dimension respectively)were detected among the cirrhotic *** characteristic histopathological features and immunohistochemical findings allowed a diagnosis of HCCNEC to be *** was no evidence of recurrence and metastasis after 10months following *** present case and review revealed that these tumors are frequently found in older ages and *** serum markers are valuable in the discrimination of malignant tumors,their absence cannot completely rule out composite *** requires a comprehensive histopathological evaluation together with *** NEC component might influence the treatment strategy and eventually the outcome of the *** conclusion,the rare occurrence of HCC-NEC and the lack of diagnostic clinical signs and symptoms do not exclude their consideration in the differential diagnosis of liver tumors,especially in patients with the chronic liver disease.

Background: Physical activity participation(PAP) has been proven to improve health and promote optimal growth among adolescents. However,most adolescents do not meet the current physical activity(PA) recommendations in Turkey. The role of the social environment and social factors on PAP is being increasingly recognized. Although social capital(SC) indicators have been examined in high-income countries, there are few studies on developing countries. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between SC indicators and PAP among Turkish ***: A survey was conducted among 19 high schools in 4 different cities in Turkey in 2016. A total of 506 female and 729 male high school students participated in this study. The dependent variable was overall PAP, which was measured using the short form of the International Physical Activity Questionnaire. The independent variables included self-perceived family, neighborhood, and school SC. Self-rated health and obesity status, measured by body mass index, were other study covariates in multiple binary logistic regression models. Chi-square tests were used to assess the differences between ***: PAP levels were significantly different between males and females. A higher percentage of males reported PAP(77.4%) compared to females(51.0%). Among males, teacher–student interpersonal trust and informal social control were inversely associated with PAP, while high students interpersonal trust was positively associated with increased odds of PAP. For females, students interpersonal trust was inversely associated with ***: various SC indicators are associated with PAP for males and females. These associations are different from findings of studies conducted in developed countries. Therefore, health-promotion interventions and policies should consider gender and different social agents on the social and cultural background to improve PAP among Turkish adolescents.

Dear editor, During the past two decades, management of blunt solid organ injuries had shifted from conventional surgery to more conservative approach, namely nonoperative management (NOM).[1] The non-operative approach mainly depends on the trauma experience of surgeons and the institution, quality of radiographic imaging and its interpretation.[2-5] If the surgeon decides to observe the patients by NOM, close monitoring of vital signs and frequent physical examinations must be done accordingly with radiological evaluations if needed.
