The article presents the results of experimental studies on the gasification of mixtures of brown coal and polyethylene(up to 20 wt%fraction)in a laboratory *** work aims to study the agglomeration process during the heating and oxidation of the *** measurement results(gas composition,pressure drop)provide indirect information on the dynamics of thermal decomposition and structural changes in the fuel *** have shown that the interaction between polyethylene and a coal surface leads to the formation of dense agglomerates,in which the molten polymer acts as a *** form as a result of interfacial interactions between components and filtration flow *** hydrogen/carbon ratio in the solid residue of coal-polyethylene co-gasification increases from 0.07–0.2 to 1.11,indicating the formation of stable hydrocarbon compounds on the carbon *** conducted research makes it possible to identify possible interactions between chemical reactions and transfer processes that lead to agglomeration in mixtures of coal with polyethylene.

Env.i.onmental pollution is currently identified as one of the major drivers of rapid decline of insect populations,and this finding has revitalized interest in insect responses to *** tested the hypothesis that the pollution-induced decline of insect populations can be predicted from phenotypic stress responses expressed as morphological differences between populations inhabiting polluted and unpolluted *** explored populations of the brassy tortrix Eulia ministrana in subarctic forests along an environmental disturbance gradient created by long-lasting severe impacts of aerial emissions of the copper-nickel smelter in Monchegorsk,northwestern *** used pheromone traps to measure the population densities of this leafrolling moth and to collect specimens for assessment of three morphological stress indices:size,forewing melanization,and fluctuating asymmetry in wing *** length of *** increased by 10%,and neither forewing melanization nor fluctuating asymmetry changed from the unpolluted forest to the heavily polluted industrial ***,the population density of *** decreased 5 to 10 fold in the same pollution ***,none of the studied potential morphological stress indicators signaled vulnerability of *** to environmental pollution and/or to pollution-induced environmental *** conclude that insect populations can decline without any visible signs of *** use of morphological proxies of insect fitness to predict the consequences of human impact on insect populations is therefore risky until causal relationships between these proxies and insect abundance are deciphered.

The results of experimental study of nanoscale intermetallic formation in surface layer of a metal target at ion implantation are presented. To increase the thickness of the ion implanted surface layer the high intensive ion implantation is used. Compared with the ordinary ion implantation, the high intensive ion implantation allows a much thicker modified surface layer. Pure polycrystalline nickel was chosen as a target. Nickel samples were irradiated with Al ions on the vacuum-arc ion beam and plasma flow source 'Raduga-5'. it was shown that at the high intensity ion implantation the fine dispersed particles of Ni3Ai, NiAl intermetallic compounds and solid solution Al in Ni are formed in the nickel surface layer of 200 nm and thicker. The formation of phases takes place in complete correspondence with the Ni-Ai phase diagram.

The shortage of information regarding the effects of root damage on forest plants,especially trees and shrubs,is the most critical gap in our knowledge of belowground insect *** study examines how the tea-leaved willow,Salix phylicifolia,responds to simulated root herbivory and how nutrient av.i.ability affects these *** grown cuttings were used to precisely apply the desired levels of root ***:shoot ratios increased proportionally to the intensity of root damage,whereas specific leaf area,leaf water content and chlorophyll fluorescence were not *** removal of 2-64%of roots once in early summer and the removal of 25%of roots three times during the summer did not change biomass production by *** repeated removal of 50 and 75%of roots decreased shoot biomass and,to a lesser extent,total root *** tolerance of tea-leaved willow to root damage was greater in low nutrient treatment than in high nutrient treatment,thus supporting the Growth Rate *** to this model,in low resource conditions plants do not attain their maximum growth rate and therefore have a higher capacity for regrowth after *** conclude that,in the absence of water limitations,tea-leaved willow shows high tolerance to root losses and is unlikely to be affected by realistic levels of root herbivory.

Consideration is given to results of experimental and theoretical investigations how alpha-epsilon phase transition in the unalloyed iron and the 30 KhGSA steel and its absence in the austenitic 12Kh18N10T stainless steel influence processes under explosive deformation of spheres made of these *** transition is shown to significantly effect on:amount of explosion-products energy transferred to a sphere,evolution of the converging-wave structure and its parameters,profiles of stress wave and temperature T(R,t)for some Lagrangian particles along the sphere radius,character of energy cumulation under spherical convergence of waves.

The study of the triple junctions of the grain boundaries in some fee solid solutions, ordered alloys and intermetallics with L12 has been carried out using the optical metallography and TEM methods. Two-types of the triple junctions were found in the alloys investigated (1), consisting of the boundaries of the random (RT), and (2), consisting of the RT boundary and the special boundaries (ST). The relative values of the RT and ST boundary energy were determined on the basis of the measurements of the angles between the grain boundary planes. it has been shown that the energy of ST boundaries increases with the increase of the stacking fault (SF) energy. The energy of the RT boundaries does not depend on the SF energy.

To pursue v.i.EF–v.i.TF joint investigations,this paper briefly describes the experimental setup and provides numerical 3D-computation results(LEGAK-3D technique)on special features in the convergence dynamics of steel shells under their quasi-spherical explosive loading in the system with the 40-mm outer radius of the explosive *** computation results were compared with the data experimentally registered for shells of the 30KhGSA steel,both as-received and quenched to HRC 35...40,and the austenitic 12Kh18N10T stainless *** comparison was also made with laserinterferometry results obtained directly under explosive loading,as well as with gammatomography and scanning electron microscopy investigations of the recovered shells.
