The most relevant aspects related to the phase mask dithering/moving method for the fabrication of complex Bragg grating designs are reviewed. Details for experimental implementation of this technique is presented, including theoretical analysis of the calibration functions for the correct dither/displacement. Results from tailored Bragg grating structures fabricated by this method are shown. Apodized Bragg gratings with modeled spatial profiles were implemented, resulting in side mode suppression levels of more than 20 dB in gratings showing transmission filtering level higher than 30 dB. Chirped gratings with the spectral bandwidth up to 4 nm, π-shift and sampled Bragg gratings with equalized peaks equally spaced by 0.8 nm （100 GHz） were also fabricated.

Fluorescent Proteins(FP)can be applied as biomarkers and biosensors in the industrial and medical fields,but their large-scale use,especially for new industrial applications,is limited due to their low ***,the discovery of additives capable of preserving the activity of FP at room temperature and under stress conditions can help to expand and facilitate their commercial *** this goal,we evaluated the application of 1-alkyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride-based([C_(n)mim]Cl)ionic liquids(ILs)as additives to preserve the activity of Enhanced Green Fluorescent Protein(EGFP)at different storage times and under unfavorable ***[C_(n)mim]Cl solutions(at 0.100 mol L^(-1))were able to preserve EGFP fluorescence for longer than the phosphatesaline buffer(PBS)and NaCl solutions,increasing its fluorescence manifestation from 1 to 3 months.[C_(n)mim]Cl with shorter to medium cationic alkyl chains were the most effective in preserving EGFP fluorescence.[C_(n)mim]Cl also protected EGFP activity in the presence of the surfactant SDS,the acid guanidine hydrochloride,and H_(2)O_(2).Therefore,[C_(n)mim]Cl can be added to aqueous solutions to preserve EGFP fluorescence activity at room temperature for longer storage times and to reduce the negative impact of denaturing agents on ***,there is a massive potential for the application of ILs as additives to preserve FP in the long-term without refrigeration and under unfavorable conditions,and this is fundamental to enable expansion of FP in industrial and commercial applications.

The Present work reports the variability of the derived sound channel and its parameters （surface sound velocity, conjugate depth, SLD （Sonic Layer depth） and SOFAR（Sound Fixing and Ranging） depth） has been presented over the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea. We use World Ocean Atlas Annual data （2013） on temperature; salinity of North Indian Ocean （0°-25°N; 50°-95°E） and its bathymetry have been utilized for the present computation. The depth of the sound channel axis increases towards the northern latitudes in the Arabian Sea, while it decreases in the Bay of Bengal. Coming to the conjugate depth, it shows variation from 120-400 m in the Bay of Bengal and 50-320 m in the Arabian Sea. The range of SLD is varying between 20-40 m in the Bay of Bengal and 10-30 m in the Arabian Sea. The Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea have depth limited nature of the profile, i.e. surface sound speed exceeds the near bottom values. This has an important implication in the sound propagation in the SOFAR channel. Anticipated acoustic rays in an ocean with depth limited profile will propagate as surface refracted, bottom reflected （RBR） rays. As a result, the effective sound channel lies much below the sea surface.

角尺度是一个刻画森林空间结构的新参数,通过描述相邻木围绕参照树的均匀性来进行林木分布格局的判定。角尺度对复杂森林的空间结构有很强的解析能力。标准角是衡量参照树周围4株最近相邻木分布均匀性的标准,是影响角尺度使用精度的关键因子。理论推导出的标准角应为72°,这个标准角能使随机分布林分的角尺度均值最接近0 5,从而与角尺度定义中林木随机分布时角尺度取值为0 5相一致,这个观察被进一步模拟的100个随机分布的林分所证实。

Development of sorghum mutants with improved in vitro protein digestibility by CRISPR/Cas9 editing of kafirin genes

Sorghum(Sorghum bicolor(L.) Moench) is a major world crop that is a reliable source of fodder and food grain in arid regions. However, unlike other cereals, sorghum grain has low nutritional value, owing mainly to the resistance of its storage proteins(kafirins) to protease digestion. Changing the composition of kafirins or their primary structure may address this problem. To induce mutations in kafirin-encoding genes that were expected to disturb their accumulation in endosperm cells, we used a genome-editing approach. By Agrobacterium-mediated genetic transformation of immature embryos of cv. Avans, we obtained 14 transgenic plants with genetic constructs for site-directed mutagenesis of the k1C5 and g KAF1 genes encoding 22 k Da a-and 28 kDa γ-kafirins, respectively. Sequencing of 5 regenerants obtained by using k1C5-addressing vector revealed two plants with mutations. T_1 progeny of these mutants had higher in vitro digestibility of endosperm proteins(86%–92%), in comparison with the donor Avans(63%–67%). The kernels of these plants had a thick vitreous endosperm. A mutant with increased in vitro protein digestibility and vitreous endosperm, carrying a mutation in the target sequence, was also obtained by use of the gKAF1-addressing vector. Thus, using genome editing technology, we have obtained mutants with improved kafirin digestibility that can be used in sorghum breeding.

Pancreatic schwannoma is a very uncommon tumor of the pancreas,with only 27 cases *** pancreatic schwannomas are benign,with only four malignant tumors *** describe a case of giant malignant schwannoma of the pancreatic body and tail,which involved the transverse *** tumor was treated successfully with en bloc distal splenopancreatectomy and colon *** is believed to be the first reported radical operation for malignant schwannoma of the pancreatic body,with infiltration of the transverse colon,with excellent longterm *** patient is alive and well 28 mo after the *** authors conclude that pancreatic schwannomas should be considered in the differential diagnosis of cystic neoplasms of the pancreas,although the diagnosis can only be confirmed by microscopic *** the case of the benign tumors,local excision is adequate,but in the case of malignant schwannoma,oncological standards must be fulfilled.

A Mathematical Model of a Ship with Wings Propelled by Waves

This paper discusses mathematical modeling of a ship equipped with energy-saving wing ***,the ship is mathematically represented by an elongated hull with high-aspect-ratio wings mounted near its bow and ***,describing ship motions in regular oncoming waves,are written in the spirit of strip theory with account of inertial and damping influence of energy-saving wing elements with the use of linear expansion of wing-related forces with respect to heave and pitch *** approach readily yields fast numerical solutions for the propulsion of a ship with wings in *** latter solutions are then used as an input for calculation of thrust on wing elements on the basis of classical unsteady foil theories corrected for finite aspect *** evaluate speed of the ship in the modes which allow cruising exclusively by wave power,it is hypothetically assumed that in this case,the wave-generated thrust on the wings equals total drag of the ship-plus-wings system,the latter being defined as a sum of its viscous,wave-making,induced(for wing elements)and added-wave *** the added-wave term and wings’contributions,the total drag is calculated herein by Holtrop method whereas added-wave resistance is evaluated with Beukelman-Gerritsma formula involving kinematic parameters of heaving and pitching motions of the ship calculated both without and with account of the *** discussed in the paper is a decrease of added wave resistance for a ship with wings as compared to that of ship without ***,the energy efficiency design index(EEDI)introduced by the International Maritime Organization(IMO)is discussed for representative sea conditions as a measure of ship environmental friendliness.
