During the follow up pathological fractures are common complications that can be accompanied by Implant failure and defect situations that are most challenging in their *** SUMMARY We present a case of a 52-year-old female suffering from a pathological fracture of the humeral shaft 10 yr after resection of a Leiomyosarcoma and postoperativ. radiotherapy. She dev.loped implant failure after retrograde nailing and another failure after rev.sion to double plate fixation. In a two-stage rev.sion, the implants were remov.d and the huge segmental defect created after debridement was bridged by a compound osteosynthesis with nancy nails and bone cement for formation of the induced membrane. Due to the prev.ous radiotherapy treatment,20 cm of the humeral shaft were declared dev.scularized but were left in situ as a scaffold. In the second stage, a v.scularized fibula graft was used in combination with a double plate fixation and autologous spongiosa grafts for final *** This combinatory treatment approach led to a successful clinical outcome and can be considered in similar challenging cases.

Immediate and late follow-up results of oncomammological application of nov.l Ukrainian endoprosthesis “Nubiplant”, made of one piece of polyacrylamide gel, for mammary gland malignancies (MGM) radical treatment with reconstruction were analyzed. This endoprosthesis hav. prov.d its unique complex of fav.rable surgical and oncological properties, such as the shape and size accommodation for mammary gland plasty purposes, absence of shell and textured surface. Of 184 patients, operated on radically for initial stages of MGM, using "Nubiplant" endoprosthesis, postoperativ. complications hav. had occur in 18 (9,8%): the wound seroma in 12 (6,5%) and partial necrosis of cutaneous edge of postoperativ. wound – in 6 (3,8%). The seromas were successfully treated by their punctures and local necrosis - using excision with secondary suture placement. Late follow-up results were obtained in 112 (60,9%) patients: three-year period hav. had surv.v.d 104 (92,6±2,4%), and a fiv.-year one – 84 (75,0±4,0%) of them. A contracture capsule was rev.aled in 3 (2,6%) patients, and excised with the endoprosthesis change. “Nubiplant” endoprosthesis hav. adv.ntages ov.r most popular worldwide kinds of such products. It may be used securely and effectiv.ly for total or partial reconstruction of mammary gland, including cases with hypoplasia, and is more resistant to trauma, radiation therapy and local complications occurrence, including contracture capsule formation. Its property to absorb the water may be used for purposes of plastic surgery. Prophylaxis of specific immediate surgical complications is trustworthy in MGM patients, using modified endoprosthesis “Nubiplant”, containing insulin, antihistamine and antiseptic medicines.

The aim of this research is to apply TerraSAR X-band, Env.sat C-band and Palsar L-band synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images for a knowledge acquisition process. For the study, backscattering properties of different natural and man-made objects of urban env.ronment are analyzed on the basis of statistics of signatures of the selected classes. After the knowledge acquisition, for the acquired knowledge representation, a rule-based approach is proposed. Ov.rall, the research demonstrated that the multi-frequency radar images can be effectiv.ly used for the knowledge acquisition as well as for the analysis of different land cov.r types.

A compact Ultra-WideBand(UWB) slot antenna is presented in this paper. The slot is modified rectangular in shape and asymmetrically cut in the ground plane. A hexagonal patch with two stepped CoPlanar Wav.guide(CPW) feed is used to excite the slot. Wider impedance bandwidth is achiev.d due to the extra inductiv. reactance created by the asymmetric slot which neutralizes the capacitiv. reactance of the hexagonal patch. The measured impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna is 11.85 GHz(2.9–14.75 GHz). The radiation patterns of the proposed antenna are obtained and found to be omni-directional in H-plane and bi-directional in E-plane.

We hav. examined the aftershock sequence and the post-seismic deformation process of the Parkfield earthquake （2004, M = 6, California, USA） source area using GPS data. This ev.nt was chosen because of the possibility of joint analysis of data from the rather dense local GPS network （from SOPAC Internet archiv.） and of the av.ilability of the rather detailed aftershock sequence data （http：]/***[ ncedc[***）. The relaxation process of post-seismic deformation prolongs about the same 400 days as the seismic aftershock process does. Thus, the aftershock process and the relaxation process in deformation could be the different sides of the same process. It should be noted that the ratio of the released seismic energy and of the GPS obtained deformation is quite different for the main shock and for the aftershock stage. The ratio of the released seismic energy to the deformation v.lue decreases essentially for the post-shock process. The similar change in the seismic energy[deformation v.lue ratio is v.lid in a few other strong earthquakes. Thus, this decrease seems typical of aftershock sequences testifying for decrease of ratio of elastic to inelastic deformation in the process of post-shock relaxation when the source area appears to be mostly fractured after the main shock occurs, but the healing process had no yet sufficient time to dev.lop.

In this study,boron-doped hydroxyapatite(BHT)-loaded alginate/gelatin-based(A/G)hydrogel coating on Ti was fabricated to support bone integration through triggering osteoinduction,v.scularization and ***,highly reproducible,cheap and time-effectiv.
