A facile and efficient one-pot three-component synthesis of bis（5-methyl-2-furyl）methanes has been achiev.d v.a the reaction of 2-methylfuran with a series of aliphatic and aromatic aldehydes and aliphatic ketones in presence of copper（II） triflate under solv.nt free conditions. The bis（5-methyl-2-furyl）methanes were obtained in 34%--72% yields and the catalyst was recycled up to four successiv. cycles without much loss in catalytic activ.ty.

Aim: To study the effect of androgen and antiandrogen on the lev.l of androgen receptor (AR) mRNA. Methods: The total RNA was extracted from the prostate and analyzed by slot blot analysis. The blots were hybridized with AR cDNA probe and 1A probe (internal control) and autoradiography was performed. The intensity of signal was measured with a densitometer and the ratio of AR RNA and 1A RNA was calculated. Results: Androgenic depriv.tion produced by castration decreased the weight of the prostate and increased the lev.ls of AR mRNA. Treatment of the castrated rats with testostrone increased the weight of prostate and decreased the lev.ls of AR mRNA. Treatment of normal rats with flutamide decreased the weight of the gland and increased the lev.ls Of AR mRNA. Conclusion: Androgens produce proliferativ. effect on the prostate and negativ.ly regulate the AR transcription.

Helicov.rpa armigera single nucleocapsid nucleopolyhedrov.rns open reading frame 101 （ha101） is 762 nts in length and encodes a 254 amino acid peptide with predicted 29 kDa molecular weight. The homologues of ha101 were explored using BLASTP searching tool in the updated GenBank/EMBL and SWlSS-PROT databases. The results showed that the homologues of ha101 were present in all the completely sequenced lepidopteran nucleopolyhedrov.rnses and granulov.rnses, suggesting that ha101 might be a functional gene associated with their lepidopteran hosts. Sequence alignment of ha101 and its homologues rev.aled that 10 amino acids were completely conserv.d. RT-PCR analysis of ha101 manifested that the transcript of ha101 was first detected at 24 hpi and remained detectable at up to 122 hpi, suggesting that ha101 was transcribed during late stages of infection. Ha101 was expressed using Bac to Bac system in Tn5B-1-4 cells. The product of ha101 expressed in Tn5B-1-4 cells was approximately 29kDa, consistent with the predicted molecular weight, and the results were confirmed by western blot analysis. The subcellular localization indicated that ha101 was aggregated along nuclear env.lope during the early stages of infection and spread out to the entire nucleus including v.rogenic stroma in late stages of infection, suggesting that ha101 may play a specific role in v.rion assembly process or v.rogenic stroma arrangement.

This paper presents a v.model of e-learning using the well-known Gagne nine steps for quality education. Our suggested model is based on our experience at the computer engineering departments at AL-Hussein Bin Talal Univ.rsity, the Univ.rsity of Jordan and Albalqa Applied Univ.rsity. We applied the recommendations of the nine steps methodology to the e-learning env.ronment. The v.model suggested in this paper came up as a result of such application. Although this v.model can be subject to some tuning and dev.lopment in the future it prov.d to be highly efficient and easy to implement for the teacher and the student.

The present article reports on characterization studies performed on amorphized nanostructured Al 6063 alloy powder synthesized by mechanical alloying (MA). The as-milled powder was characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) for inv.stigating the dev.lopment of crystallite nature and determining the different phases of the materials present, scanning electron microscope (SEM) was used for in depth morphological study and High Resolution-transmission electron microscope (HR-TEM) was employed to ensure the dev.lopment of a nano-structured nature of the Al 6063 matrix. In the present work alloyed powder was milled for 20 h and 40 h at 300 rpm;and 20 h at 700 rpm in a hardened stainless steel medium. Using Williamson-Hall equation;crystallite size, lattice strain and lattice parameter of Al 6063 nanostructure alloy powder was estimated with broadening of XRD peaks. XRD results showed that the crystallite size of Al 6063 alloy powder reached 32 and 53 nm after 20 h at 700 rpm and 40 h at 300 rpm respectiv.ly.

Beneficiation of an Indian non-coking coal by column flotation

Beneficiation of non-coking coal is gaining ground in India. It not only reduces the v.lume of inert content to be transported to the power plant and also lowers the wear in the boiler houses. For special applications such as the fuel for integrated gasification combined cycle plant （IGCC）, the ash content in the coal should preferably be below 15 %. Indian coals are characterized by high inter-grown ash content mainly due to ＇drift origin＇ of Gondwana formation in Permian age. This warrants fine grinding of non-coking coal in order to liberate the ash forming minerals from coal macerals. A non- coking coal sample of v.trinite type from India was ground to 44 ~tm （dso） and subjected to column flotation to improv. its quality. The non-coking coal analyzing 34.6 % ash, 26.2 % v.latile matter, 1.3 % moisture and 37.9 % fixed carbon could be upgraded to a concentrate/froth of 14.83 % ash at 72.18 % yield by optimizing collector and frother dosages and flotation column operating parameters, namely, froth depth, superficial feed v.locity and superficial air v.locity. The concentrate produced by this process is suitable as fuel for IGCC in coal-to-electricity route.

This paper proposes a scheme for password management by storing password encryptions on a serv.r. The method inv.lv.s hav.ng the encryption key split into a share for the user and one for the serv.r. The user’s share shall be based solely on a selected passphrase. The serv.r’s share shall be generated from the user’s share and the encryption key. The security and trust are achiev.d by performing both encryption and decryption on the client side. We also address the issue of countering dictionary attack by prov.ding a further enhancement of the scheme.
