Regulation of floral senescence in Arabidopsis by coordinated action of CONsTANs and jasmonate signaling

In Arabidopsis,photoperiodic flowering is controlled by the regulatory hub gene CONsTANs(CO),whereas floral organ senescence is regulated by the jasmonates(JAs).Because these processes are chronologically ordered,it remains unknown whether there are common regulators of both *** this study,we discovered that CO protein accumulates in Arabidopsis flowers after floral induction,and it displays a diurnal pattern in floral organs different from that in the *** observed that altered CO expression could affect flower senescence and abscission by interfering with JA response,as shown by petal-specific transcriptomic analysis as well as CO overexpression in JA synthesis and signaling *** found that CO has a ZIM(ZINC-FINGER INFLOREsCENCE MERIsTEM)like domain that mediates its interaction with the JA response repressor JAZ3(jasmonate ZIM-domain 3).Their interaction inhibits the repressor activity of JAZ3,resulting in activation of downstream transcription factors involved in promoting flower ***,we showed that CO,JAZ3,and the E3 ubiquitin ligase COI1(Coronatine Insensitive 1)could form a protein complex in planta,which promotes the degradation of both CO and JAZ3 in the presence of *** together,our results indicate that CO,a key regulator of photoperiodic flowering,is also involved in promoting flower senescence and abscission by augmenting JA signaling and *** propose that coordinated recruitment of photoperiodic and JA signaling pathways could be an efficient way for plants to chronologically order floral processes and ensure the success of offspring production.

soil Organic Matter and Grain Yield of Rainfed Maize in Luvisols of Campeche, México

The organic matter is an important soil component, due its favorable effects on soil physical and chemical properties and, by consequence, on crop yields. so, the objective of this work was quantify the changes through the time of soil organic matter in rainfed maize (Zea mays L.) system, in a period of 30 years of continuous crop and in relation to system of natural vegetation system, and also the effects of these changes on the crop yield, in Luvisols soils of state of Campeche, México. In production cycle of 2004, 53 farmer plots in rainfed maize system of different land use time and five sites of forest natural vegetation system were sampled for soil, to quantify physical and chemical properties of soil, and it was taken data about climate, system management and crop yield. The data were analiced by regression analysis, considered the organic matter as function of land use time and factors of soil and management of system, and the crop yield as function of soil organic matter and factors of soil, climate and management of system. The soil organic matter diminished from 5.68% in forest natural vegetation system to 3.59% after 16 - 30 years of cultivation, and the soil annual incorporation of vegetative mulch (weeds and stubble of maize) increased the organic matter from 0.14% after 1 - 5 years to 0.46% after 16 - 30 years of cultivation. Without fertilization, the diminution of soil organic matter caused 907 kg⋅ha−1 less of maize yield, and the fertilization with 200 kg⋅ha−1 of diamonic phosphate (36 kg⋅N⋅ha−1 and 92 kg P2O5 ha−1) increased the maize yield 1224 kg⋅ha−1 after 1 - 5 years and 1421 kg⋅ha−1 after 16 - 30 years of cultivation, but not compensed less maize yield of 711 kg⋅ha−1 due the diminution of soil organic matter.

Productivity of White and Yellow Grain Corns in Campeche, México

The present work took place in the central and northern regions of the state of Campeche, Mexico. The grain yield was evaluated in a total of 46 materials, comprising 30 of white grain and 16 of yellow grain. The crop was supplied to a greater extent with rainwater from the months of July to November. The sowing was in trials designed to evaluate grain yield and technology validation lots established for demonstration purposes. To integrate a genetic material into this study, it was a fundamental requirement that it had at least four evaluations considering different locations or years. As a result of the above, it was determined that there are 27 hybrids of white grain and 14 of yellow grain, which constitute options for the producer with which it is possible to obtain yields of 4.1 to 6.0 t⋅ha−1 and that can make corn a profitable crop under the current conditions of technology application. Of the white grain hybrids, the group formed by sB-309, DK-395, DK-393, DAs-2382, sP-500, DK-390, P4082W, 9209W, P3966W, sORENTO, JC-25, LUCINO, and 9401W was considered as the high productivity stratum, whose average yield is 5.1 to 5.9 t⋅ha−1. similarly, in the yellow grain hybrids, the group formed 9107Y, sP-525A, 2B688, DK-7500, P4226A, IMPACT and DK-7088, was considered as the high productivity stratum, whose average yield fluctuated from 5.0 to 5.9 t⋅ha−1.

Comparing the biogeochemical functioning of two arid subtropical coastal lagoons:the effect of wastewater discharges

Nutrient flux,net metabolism,and N2 fixation and denitrification processes were estimated and compared in two semi-arid subtropical coastal lagoons in the Gulf of California:El soldado(Es),where no wastewater is discharged,and El Rancho(ER),where shrimp farm effluents are regularly *** processes were evaluated with the LOICZ *** time wass in both *** fluxes were higher in ER than in Es and both systems acted as nutrient sinks for most of the *** showed a larger nutrient flow rate in the summer and autumn due to the input of shrimp-farm *** fluxes increased in both ER and Es in the winter in response to the increased nutrient supply from coastal *** and Es both showed autotrophic metabolism and N2 fixation in the spring,autumn,and winter,but heterotrophic metabolism and denitrification in the *** dominated in ER(−2.21 mmol m^(2)day^(−1))and values were higher than those estimated in Es(−0.45 mmol m^(2)day^(−1)).The comparative analysis between Es and ER evidenced the significant changes in its biogeochemical performance caused by the input of anthropogenic nutrients,and can orient the environmental management of coastal lagoons.

Body Image Anxiety on University students (Differences between Men and Women)

The aim of this research lies on comparing anxiety body image profiles between male and female university students. A total sample of 2089 freshmen—902 women and 1187 men is from the different degrees offered by the Autonomous University of Chihuahua, with an average age of 18.23 ± 0.74 years. The approach used in the research is part of a quantitative design with a survey description. The differences found between men and women regarding their own perception of anxiety suggest that when designing any kind of intervention that aims at the decreasingly perceived anxiety, the gender variable will have to be taken into account. Future investigations should respond to these discoveries in larger samples.
