Tethered-sonde measurements of atmospheric profiles were performed at Urumuqi,capital of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region of China,from 29 December 2008 to 14 January *** data were used to examine the boundary layer structure during this severe air pollution *** evolution of local wind flow near urumqi was simulated using the fifth-generation Pennsylvania State University-NCAR Mesoscale Model(MM5).Measurements from Operational radiosonde data showed that a southeasterly elevated low-level jet often intruded upon urumqi through the middle Tianshan Mountain pass to the south of the *** tethered-sonde measurements showed that calm and northwesterly winds prevailed near the surface in urumqi,while the southeasterly winds of relatively higher speed were dominant above 00 *** temperature inversion and humidity inversion frequently occur during day and *** inversion intensity could sharply rise as the stronger elevated southeasterly gales(ESEGs) *** simulations showed that the winds near the surface around urumqi remained calm during nighttime and developed toward the mountains during *** cool air flow in the basin confronted the southeasterly winds from the pass in the lower layer,they formed a convergence line around urumqi city,which was not favor for dilution of air pollutants.

The OH Maser Line Receiving System for the urumqi 25m Radio Telescope

A maser spectral line system is newly implemented on the urumqi 25m Radio Telescope. The system consists mainly of a cooling receiver and a 4096 channels digital correlation spectrometer. The frequency resolution of the spectrometer at the maximum signal bandwidth of 80MHz is 19.5kHz. After careful calibrations observation at the 1665 MHz OH maser emission was made towards a number of sources, including W49N and W75N. The observed results demonstrate that the digital correlation spectrometer is suitable for astronomical spectral line observations.

Ethnic Differences in Body Mass Index and Prevalence of Obesity in School Children of urumqi City, Xinjiang, China

Objective To investigate the prevalence of obesity and distribution of body mass index （BMI） in school children of four ethnic groups in urumqi, Xinjiang, China. Methods A total of 55 508 school children of Han, Hui, Uygur and Kazak nationalities aged 8-18 years were selected by a cluster sampling from a districts of urumqi City for anthropometrie measurement and demographic survey. Prevalence of obesity and overweight and distribution of body mass index （BMI） by gender, age, and nationality were analyzed and compared. Cutoff points of BMI for defining obesity and overweight were based on the proposal set by the Working Group on Obesity in China （WGOC） to assess age-, gender- and nationality-specific prevalence of obesity and overweight. Results Prevalence of obesity was 5.34%, 6.78%, 3.39 %, and 1.22% for boys and 2.61%, 1.83%, 1.78%, and 1.40% for girls of Han, Hui, Uygur and Kazak nationalities, respectively. Prevalence of obesity tended to decrease with age overall, whereas that of overweight increased with age in Han children. Conclusions Prevalence of obesity in school children in urumqi varies with their nationalities and is lower than that of an average national level and a level of western countries. Obesity is more prevalent in boys than in girls of Urmuqi overall, which is just the opposite in Kazak children. Han boys and Hui girls have the highest prevalence of obesity and Kazak boys and girls have the lowest ones. Prevalence of obesity decreases with age, but that of overweight shows a different trend.

Observations of interplanetary scintillation with a single-station mode at urumqi

The Sun affects physical phenomena on Earth in multiple ways. In particular, the material in interplanetary space comes from coronal expansion in the form of inhomogeneous plasma flow （solar wind）, which is the primary source of the interplanetary medium. Ground-based Interplanetary Scintillation （IPS） observations are an important and effective method for measuring solar wind speed and the structures of small diameter radio sources. We discuss one mode of ground-based single-station observations： Single-Station Single-Frequency （SSSF） mode. To study the SSSF mode, a new system has been established at urumqi Astronomical Observatory （UAO）, China, and a series of experimental observations were successfully carried out from May to December, 2008.

Ecological－breaking　zone　originates　and　its　ecosystem　reconstruction　in　aridarea

In the process of arid land exploitation, the landscape of desert is divided into three types. Oasis is rising,the area of uneffected area keeps its original state,the serious degenerated area where is only limited between oasis and desert, but not overall. Its relationship with the neighbor region, the zone of ecological-breaking region or ecological rift valley is not successive. . Its ecological effect endangered the arid land overall. Rehabilitating vegetation is the basic measure for abatement. The authors proposed a new tactics that based on the properties of vegetation. Depending on the local water sources and partly regulating the composition of environmental factor to satisfy the requirement of desert community, the rehabilitate vegetation should be realized.

Local electronic structure and magnetic properties of 3d transition metal doped GaAs

The local electronic structure and magnetic properties of GaAs doped with 3 transition metal(Sc,Ti,V,Cr,Mn,Fe,Co,Ni) were studied by using discrete varia tional method(DVM) based on density functional *** calculated result in dicated that the magnetic moment of transition metal increases first and then de creases,and reaches the maximum value when Mn is doped into *** the cas of Mn concentration of 1.4%,the magnetic moment of Mn is in good agreement wit the experimental *** coupling between impure atoms in the system with tw impure atoms was found to have obvious *** different transition meta the coupling between the impure atom and the nearest neighbor As also has dif ferent variation.

目的:了解卡氏尖在汉族人恒牙列中的表达特点和规律。方法:对乌鲁木齐市8所汉族中学生人群(3 819人)进行口腔检查,记录卡氏尖在上颌恒磨牙的表达强度(分为5级)。卡方检验比较不同牙位、不同性别、左右侧卡氏尖的发生率。双侧相关性采用Kendall检验。结果:卡氏尖(3～5级)的牙齿发生率在第一磨牙为14.38%(1 097/7 629牙),第二磨牙为0.47%(36/7 633牙);而其个体发生率分别为17.55%(669/3 812人)和0.60%(23/3 816人)。在上颌第一磨牙,卡氏尖在右侧的发生率要显著高于左侧(P<0.05),男性组的发生率显著高于女性组(P<0.05),双侧共同发生率为63.38%(424/669人),双侧相关系数tau为0.768(P<0.05)。结论:掌握卡氏尖在恒牙列的表达规律具有重要的人类学价值。

Multi-level Detachments and Petroleum Potential of the Tarim Basin

Four detachment systems have been found in the Tarim Basin. They are made up of the Proterozoic,Palaeozoic, Mesozoic-Eogene and Neogene-Quaternary, respectively. The shallow-level detachments are char-acterized by the occurrence of fold-thrust belts in the Meso-Cenozoic. The mid-level detachments are markedby nappes, decollement folds and drag anticlines in the Palaeozoic. The deep-level detachments are representedby ductile shear belts in the basement. Mid-and deep-level detachments mainly occur in the Northern, Centraland Southern Uplifts which are major hydrocarbon accumulation belts of large-scale oil fields. Shallow-leveldetachments mainly exist in the Kuqa, Southwestern and Southeastern Depressions, which are favourable beltsfor finding medium- and small-sized oil-gas fields.
