Comparison of the effects of intravitreal bevacizumab and dexamethasone in experimental posterior penetrating eye injury

AIM： To compare the effects of intravitreal anti-vascular endothelial growth factor（VEGF） and dexamethasone in an experimental rabbit model of posterior penetrating ocular ***： Thirty white New Zealand rabbits were included in the study. A posterior penetrating ocular injury was performed at the superotemporal quadrant. They were randomly divided into three groups. The rabbits in group 1 received intravitreal dexamethasone, in group 2 they received intravitreal bevacizumab and those in group 3 received intravitreal physiological saline solution in both eyes. All eyes were examined ophthalmologically on the 1^st, 3^rd, 7^th, 14^th and 28^th days following the injury and the clinical findings were scored. On the day 28, the eyes were enucleated, evaluated and scored macroscopically, histopathologically and scanning electron ***： The median clinical score on the 14 th and 28 th days and the median macroscopic score of the dexamethasone group was significantly better than that of control（P=0.004, 0.018）. Dexamethasone group was also better than that of bevacizumab group but the differences did not reach statistical significance. Retinal detachment rate was 8.3%, 16.6% and 12.5% in the dexamethasone group, bevacizumab group and control group, respectively（P=0.476）. More extensive fibrocelluler proliferations were observed in controls compared with dexamethasone and bevacizumab groups. But these differences did not reach the statistical significance（P=0.538）. In scanning electron microscopy all groups showed fibreous stalk and dense collagen fibrils in vitreous. CONCLUSION： This study shows that intravitreal injection of both dexamethasone and bevacizumab may reduce the intraocular fibrous proliferation after an experimental posterior penetrating ocular injury in rabbits.

目的檢測尿蛋白陽性孕婦血清可溶性血管内皮生長因子受體-1(sFlt-1)、胎盤生長因子(PlGF)水平,探討sFlt-1/PlGF比值預測子癇前期及其他不良妊娠結局的實用價值。方法收集2019年10月~2022年11月尿蛋白陽性孕婦80例為觀察組,同期尿蛋白陰性的孕婦40例為對照組,檢測兩組孕婦血清中sFlt-1及PlGF水平,統計分析兩組sFlt-1/PlGF比值>38的差異性,受試者工作特徵曲線(Receiver Operating Characteristic curve,ROC)評估sFlt-1/PlGF比值預測不良妊娠結局及子癇前期的診斷價值。結果觀察組及對照組血清sFlt-1/PlGF比值中位數分别為14.66、5.06,觀察組高於對照組,兩組間差異有統計學意義(Punder the Curve,AUC)分别為0.90、0.77。結論尿蛋白陽性孕婦血清sFlt-1/PlGF比值,能為子癎前期及其他不良妊娠結局的預測提供參考價值。

Two fundamental flows, namely, the Stokes and Couette flows in a Maxwell fluid are considered. The exact analytic solutions are derived in the presence of the slip condition. The Laplace transform method is employed for the development of such solutions. Limiting cases of no-slip and viscous fluids can be easily recovered from the present analysis. The behaviors of embedded flow parameters are discussed through graphs.

The development of IoT(Internet of Things)calls for circuit designs with energy and area efficiency for edge *** computing which trades unnecessary computation precision for hardware cost savings is a promising direction for error-tolerant ***,as frequently invoked basic modules which consume non-trivial hardware costs,have been introduced approximation to achieve distinct energy and area savings for data-intensive *** this paper,we propose a fixed-point approximate multiplier that employs a linear mapping technique,which enables the configurability of approximation levels and the unbiasedness of computation *** then introduce a dynamic truncation method into the proposed multiplier design to cover a wider and more fine-grained configuration range of approximation for more flexible hardware cost *** addition,a novel normalization module is proposed for the required shifting operations,which balances the occupied area and the critical path delay compared with normal *** introduced errors of our proposed design are analyzed and expressed by formulas which are validated by experimental *** evaluations show that compared with accurate multipliers,our proposed approximate multiplier design provides maximum area and power savings up to 49.70%and 66.39%respectively with acceptable computation errors.

Recently, we have demonstrated the ability of naringin, a well-known flavanone glycoside of grapefruits and citrus fruits, to prevent neurodegeneration in a neurotoxin model of Parkinson＇s disease. Intraperitoneal injection of naringin protected the nigrostriatal dopaminergic projection by increasing glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor expression and decreasing the level of tumor necrosis factor-alpha in dopaminergic neurons and microglia, respectively. These results suggest that naringin can impart to the adult dopaminergic neurons the ability to produce glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor against Parkinson＇s disease with anti-inflammatory effects. Based on these results, we would like to describe an important perspective on its possibility as a therapeutic agent for Parkinson＇s disease.

The mathematical models for dynamic distributed parameter systems are given by systems of partial differential equations. With nonlinear material properties, the corresponding finite element (FE) models are large systems of nonlinear ordinary differential equations. However, in most cases, the actual dynamics of interest involve only a few of the variables, for which model reduction strategies based on system theoretical concepts can be immensely useful. This paper considers the problem of controlling a three dimensional profile on nontrivial geometries. Dynamic model is obtained by discretizing the domain using FE method. A nonlinear control law is proposed which transfers any arbitrary initial temperature profile to another arbitrary desired one. The large dynamic model is reduced using proper orthogonal decomposition (POD). Finally, the stability of the control law is proved through Lyapunov analysis. Results of numerical implementation are presented and possible further extensions are identified.

We investigate the impact of Ni insertion on the structural,optical,and magnetic properties of Ba_(0.8)La_(0.2)Fe_(12-x)Ni_(x)O_(19)hexaferrites(Ni substituted La-BaM hexaferrites).Samples were prepared using the conventional co-precipitation method and sintered at 1000℃for 4 hours to assist the crystallization *** analysis of the structure of the samples was carried out using an x-ray diffraction(XRD)*** M-type hexagonal structure of all the samples was confirmed using XRD *** lattice parameters a and c were found to be in the ranges of 5.8925±0.001 nm–5.8952±0.001 nm and 23.2123±0.001 nm–23.2219±0.001 nm,*** M-type hexagonal nature of the prepared samples was also indicated by the presence of corresponding FT-IR bands and Raman modes in the FT-IR and Raman spectra,*** results confirmed the successful synthesis of the samples according to the required stoichiometric ratio.A UV-vis spectrometer was used to record the absorption spectra of the prepared samples in the wavelength range of 200 nm–1100 *** optical energy bandgap of the samples was found to be in the range of 1.21 eV–3.39 *** M–H loops of the samples were measured at room temperature at an applied magnetic field range of 0 kOe–60 kOe.A high saturation magnetization of 99.92 emu/g was recorded in the sample with x=0 at a microwave operating frequency of 22.2 *** high value of saturation magnetization is due to the substitution of La3+ions at the spin-up(12k,2a,and 2b)*** Ni substitution is proven to be a potential candidate for the tuning of the optical and magnetic parameters of M-type ***,we suggest that the prepared samples are suitable for use in magneto-optic applications.
