Medical Data Clustering and Classification Using TLBO and Machine Learning Algorithms

Epidemiology of lung cancer and approaches for its prediction:a systematic review and analysis

Background: Owing to the use of tobacco and the consumption of alcohol and adulterated food, worldwide cancer incidence is increasing at an alarming and frightening rate. Since the last decade of the twentieth century, lung cancer has been the most common cancer type. This study aimed to determine the global status of lung cancer and to evaluate the use of computational methods in the early detection of lung ***: We used lung cancer data from the United Kingdom(UK), the United States(US), India, and Egypt. For statistical analysis, we used incidence and mortality as well as survival rates to better understand the critical state of lung ***: In the UK and the US, we found a significant decrease in lung cancer mortalities in the period of 1990–2014, whereas, in India and Egypt, such a decrease was not much promising. Additionally, we observed that, in the UK and the US, the survival rates of women with lung cancer were higher than those of men. We observed that the data mining and evolutionary algorithms were efficient in lung cancer ***: Our findings provide an inclusive understanding of the incidences, mortalities, and survival rates of lung cancer in the UK, the US, India, and Egypt. The combined use of data mining and evolutionary algorithm can be efficient in lung cancer detection.

Free Convection Flow between Vertical Plates Moving in Opposite Direction and Partially Filled with Porous Medium

The laminar fully developed free-convection flow in a channel bounded by two vertical plates, partially filled with porous matrix and partially with a clear fluid, has been discussed when both the plates are moving in opposite direction. Two regions are coupled, by equating the velocity and shear stress at the interface. The momentum transfer in porous medium has been described by the Brinkman-extended Darcy model. The affect of Darcy number on flow velocity has been discussed in fluid region, interface region and porous medium with the help of graphs. Analytic method has been adopted to obtain the expressions of velocity and temperature. The skin-friction component has also been determined and presented with the help of tables.

PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF SUBMERGENCE RATIO OF A RECTANGULAR SUBMERGED VANE WITH A COLLAR

The vane induced strength of secondary flow in terms of dimensionless moment of momentum is maximum in the case of a rectangular vane with a collar at angle of attack 400 at different degrees of submergence (T/d) such as 0.60, 0.67 and 0.75. The same value of optimal angle of attack was found by Marelius and Sinha (1998) in the case of a rectangular vane without a collar. The vane induced strength of a vortex is insensitive to the submergence ratio (T/d). The vane induced strength of a vortex in terms of moment of momentum (MOM) depends on a wide range of variables, such as angle of attack, vane height, vane length, vane thickness flow depth, water density, median sediment size, velocity vector, acceleration due to gravity, water dynamic viscosity, vane shape, taper angle, etc. The optimal angle of attack is very close to 400. A dimensionless moment of momentum parameter has also been identified. Vane induced secondary flow is also related to linear momentum. The graphical plot of moment of momentum vs. different angle of attack shows a similar trend as that of the plot of dimensionless MOM such as MOM made non- dimensional by flow depth or by vane height vs. angle of attack.

DIKE FORMATION WITH SUBMERGED VANE

Submerged vanes are submerged foils constructed in a river at an angle of attack to induce horizontal circulation in the downstream flow. The initial height of vanes is 0.2 – 0.4 times the local water depth (d) at the design stage. Its length expressed as a multiple of the height to length ratio (H/L) normally is 0.25 to 0.5. With the use of a submerged vane in straight channels, dikes (heaps of sediment) were formed downstream. At an optimal angle of attack of 40o and at a Froude number of 0.25, the formation of the dike starts at some distance from the trailing edge of the rectangular and trapezoidal submerged vanes with a collar. A significant scour hole results at the trailing edge of a vane with a collar. A typical dike formed along the vane on the suction side with a symmetric bell-shaped profile. The dike formation phenomenon triggered by a vane close to the bank-line at a flow with a relatively higher Froude number, such as 0.25, does not seem to follow a straight alignment, but has a sort of curvilinear shape bent towards the suction side. The dike formation process for a flow with a smaller Froude number, such as 0.13, is observed to not be appreciable. With the same installation height of H, a vane without a collar was dislodged by the flow at a Froude number of 0.25, whereas it was stable at a Froude number of 0.13.

On dry machining of AZ31B magnesium alloy using textured cutting tool inserts

Direct scaling of residual displacements for bilinear and pinching oscillators

The estimation of residual displacements in a structure due to an anticipated earthquake event has increasingly become an important component of performance-based earthquake engineering because controlling these displacements plays an important role in ensuring cost-feasible or cost-effective repairs in a damaged structure after the *** attempt is made in this study to obtain statistical estimates of constant-ductility residual displacement spectra for bilinear and pinching oscillators with 5%initial damping,directly in terms of easily available seismological,site,and model *** of the available models for the bilinear and pinching oscillators are useful when design spectra for a seismic hazard at a site are not *** statistical estimates of a residual displacement spectrum are proposed in terms of earthquake magnitude,epicentral distance,site geology parameter,and three model parameters for a given set of ductility demand and a hysteretic energy capacity coefficient in the case of bilinear and pinching models,as well as for a given set of pinching parameters for displacement and strength at the breakpoint in the case of pinching model *** proposed scaling model is applicable to horizontal ground motions in the western *** earthquake magnitudes less than 7 or epicentral distances greater than 20 km.

Optimizing calcination of coal by-products for maximizing REE leaching recovery and minimizing Al,Ca,and Fe contamination

High-temperature calcination is effective in improving the leaching characteristics of rare earth elements(REEs)from conventional REE-bearing minerals by transforming them into more leachable ***,the recovery of contaminants such as Al,Fe,and Ca also increases *** objective of the study was to maximize the REE extraction while minimizing the concentration of contaminant ions(Al,Ca,and Fe)in the leach *** density fractions of the coarse refuse from the Baker and Fire Clay seam coal refuse were pulverized to a top size of 180μm and used as a feedstock for the *** the samples generated from thermal treatment were leached at 1%(w/v)using 1.2 mol/L sulfuric acid at 75℃ for 2 *** results from a parametric program based on a Box-Behnken design were used for modeling and optimization of three operating parameters associated with the lab-scale calcination *** parameters included temperature(400-800℃),ramp rate(2-10℃/min)and holding time(0-120 min).It was determined that the calcination temperature was the most significant parameter influencing REE *** majority of the heavy rare earth elements(HREEs)were found to be present in an insoluble form in the calcination products and were marginally affected by thermal treatment.A strong correlation between light rare earth elements recovery(LREEs)and Al suggested a possible association with *** optimum operating conditions for high REE recovery with comparatively lower contaminant concentration for 1.6 specific gravity float and 2.2 sink fractions of Baker and Fire Clay seam material were determined to be at 776,800℃ and 407,800℃,calcining temperatures,respectively.A higher optimum temperature of 1.6 float fraction of Baker seam relative to Fire Clay seam material was due to elevated pyrite concentration in Baker seam *** treatment at 400℃ converted pyrite into a soluble intermedium iron oxide,resulting in a high Fe content in the ***

Optimal design of hybrid renewable-energy microgrid system:a techno-economic-environment-social-reliability perspective

The main objective of this paper is to select the optimal model of a hybrid renewable-energy microgrid(MG)system for a village in *** MG comprises solar photovoltaic(PV)modules,a wind turbine generator,a biomass generator,a battery bank,a diesel generator and an electric *** optimal model selection is based on technical,economic,environmental,social and reliability parameters.A novel spoonbill swarm optimization algorithm is proposed to select the best hybrid MG *** optimization results are compared with particle swarm optimization,the genetic algorithm and the grasshopper optimization *** number or size of components of the optimized MG system is 215 PV modules,92 kW of wind turbine generation,25 kW of biomass generation,267 batteries,22 kW of electric vehicles and 30 kW of diesel *** optimized system was selected based on technical factors such as renewable dispersion(93.5%),the duty factor(5.85)and excess energy(15975 kWh/year)as well as eco-nomic considerations including the net present cost(Rs.34686622)and the cost of energy(9.3 Rs./kWh).Furthermore,environ-mental factors such as carbon emissions(396348 kg/year)and atmospheric particulate matter(22.686 kg/year);social factors such as the human progress index(0.68411),the employment generation factor(0.0389)and local employment generation(15.64643);and reliability parameters including loss of power supply probability(0.01%)and availability index(99.99%)were considered during the selection *** spoonbill swarm optimization algorithm has reduced the convergence time by 1.2 times and decreased the number of iterations by 0.83 times compared with other *** performance of the MG system is validated in the MATLAB®*** results show that the MG system is the optimal system considering technical,economic,environmental,social and reliability ***,the spoonbill swarm optimization algorithm is found to be more efficient than the other
