Sensitivity of miRNA-181a,miRNA-23b and miRNA-16 in the Late-Onset Neonatal Sepsis:A Diagnostic Study

Objective To evaluate the expression and diagnostic value of levels of the microRNAs(miRNAs),miRNA-181a,miRNA-23b,and miRNA-16,in late-onset neonatal sepsis(LOS)and compare them with the diagnostic utility of C-reactive protein(CRP)*** This was a prospective diagnostic study conducted between January 2021 and March 2023 at a tertiary care center(Sri Ramachandra Hospital)in *** real-time polymerase chain reaction was performed to determine miRNA-181a,miRNA-23b,and miRNA-16 expression levels,and CRP was measured by *** diagnostic value of miRNA and CRP levels were analyzed using receiver operating characteristic(ROC)*** curves were utilized to determine optimal cutoff points,and Mann–Whitney tests were performed using SPSS to ascertain P values,with statistical significance defined as<*** This study included 100 samples,with 50 cases of culture-proven LOS(27 females,23 males)and 50 healthy controls(31 females,19 males).In LOS,miRNA-181a and miRNA-23b expression levels were significantly downregulated(P<0.001),with area under the curve(AUC)values of 0.83 and 0.92,respectively,whereas those of miRNA-16 were significantly upregulated(P<0.001;AUC=0.97).In comparison,CRP levels had an AUC value of 0.831(P<0.001).Further,miRNA-23b showed the highest sensitivity(98%)of markers tested,whereas miRNA-16 exhibited the highest specificity(96%).Conclusion MiRNA,especially miRNA-16,shows diagnostic potential for neonatal sepsis compared with traditional biomarkers like CRP and procalcitonin,suggesting its use as an early marker for ***,further cohort studies are needed before practical application.

Transforming Education with Photogrammetry:Creating Realistic 3D Objects for Augmented Reality Applications

Augmented reality(AR)is an emerging dynamic technology that effectively supports education across different *** increased use of mobile devices has an even greater *** the demand for AR applications in education continues to increase,educators actively seek innovative and immersive methods to engage students in ***,exploring these possibilities also entails identifying and overcoming existing barriers to optimal educational ***,this surge in demand has prompted the identification of specific barriers,one of which is three-dimensional(3D)*** 3D objects for augmented reality education applications can be challenging and time-consuming for the *** address this,we have developed a pipeline that creates realistic 3D objects from the two-dimensional(2D)*** for augmented and virtual reality can then utilize these created 3D *** evaluated the proposed pipeline based on the usability of the 3D object and performance ***,with 117 respondents,the co-creation team was surveyed with openended questions to evaluate the precision of the 3D object created by the proposed photogrammetry *** analyzed the survey data using descriptive-analytical methods and found that the proposed pipeline produces 3D models that are positively accurate when compared to real-world objects,with an average mean score above *** study adds new knowledge in creating 3D objects for augmented reality applications by using the photogrammetry technique;finally,it discusses potential problems and future research directions for 3D objects in the education sector.

An Adaptive Scalable Data Pipeline for Multiclass Attack Classification in Large-Scale IoT Networks

The current large-scale Internet of Things(IoT)networks typically generate high-velocity network traffic *** use IoT devices to create botnets and launch attacks,such as DDoS,Spamming,Cryptocurrency mining,Phishing,*** service providers of large-scale IoT networks need to set up a data pipeline to collect the vast network traffic data from the IoT devices,store it,analyze it,and report the malicious IoT devices and types of ***,the attacks originating from IoT devices are dynamic,as attackers launch one kind of attack at one time and another kind of attack at another *** number of attacks and benign instances also vary from time to *** phenomenon of change in attack patterns is called concept ***,the attack detection system must learn continuously from the ever-changing real-time attack patterns in large-scale IoT network *** meet this requirement,in this work,we propose a data pipeline with Apache Kafka,Apache Spark structured streaming,and MongoDB that can adapt to the ever-changing attack patterns in real time and classify attacks in large-scale IoT *** concept drift is detected,the proposed system retrains the classifier with the instances that cause the drift and a representative subsample instances from the previous training of the *** proposed approach is evaluated with the latest dataset,IoT23,which consists of benign and several attack instances from various IoT *** classification accuracy is improved from 97.8%to 99.46%by the proposed *** training time of distributed random forest algorithm is also studied by varying the number of cores in Apache Spark environment.

Self-assembled multifunctional nanotheranostics against circulating tumor clusters in metastatic breast cancer

Circulating tumor clusters(CTC)disseminating from the primary tumor are responsible for secondary tumor formation where the conventional treatments such as chemotherapy and radiotherapy does not prevent the metastasis at locally advanced stage of breast *** this study,a smart nanotheranostic system has been developed to track and eliminate the CTCs before it can colonize at a new site,which would reduce metastatic progression and increase the five-year survival rate of the breast cancer *** multiresponsive(magnetic hyperthermia and pH)nanomicelles incorporated with NIR fluorescent superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles were developed based on self-assembly for dual modal imaging and dual toxicity for spontaneous killing of CTCs in blood stream.A heterogenous tumor clusters model was developed to mimic the CTCs isolated from breast cancer *** nanotheranostic system was further evaluated for the targeting property,drug release kinetics,hyperthermia and cytotoxicity against developed CTC model in *** vivo model in BALB/c mice equivalent to stageⅢandⅣhuman metastatic breast cancer was developed to evaluate the biodistribution and therapeutic efficacy of micellar nanotheranostic *** CTCs in blood stream and low distant organ metastasis after treatment with the nanotheranostic system demonstrates its potential to capture and kill the CTCs that minimize the secondary tumor formation at distant sites.

Fuzzy Based Adaptive Clustering to Improve the Lifetime of Wireless Sensor Network

The objective of the recently proposed fuzzy based hierarchical routing protocol F-SCH is to improve the lifetime of a Wireless Sensor Network. Though the performance of F-SCH is better than LEACH, the randomness in CH selection inhibits it from attaining enhanced lifetime. CBCH ensures maximum network lifetime when CH is close to the centroid of the cluster. However, for a widely distributed network, CBCH results in small sized clusters increasing the inter cluster communication cost. Hence, with an objective to enhance the network lifetime, a fuzzy based two-level hierarchical routing protocol is proposed. The novelty of the proposal lies in identification of appropriate parameters used in Cluster Head and Super Cluster Head selection. Experiments for different network scenarios are performed through both simulation and hardware to validate the proposal. The performance of the network is evaluated in terms of Node Death. The proposal is compared with F-SCH and the results reveal the efficacy of the proposal in enhancing the lifetime of network.

Practice patterns among ophthalmic surgeons in treating concomitant oculoplastic conditions in preoperative period:A questionnaire-based study

BACKGROUND Addressing oculoplastic conditions in the preoperative period ensures both the safety and functional success of any ophthalmic *** oculoplastic conditions,like nasolacrimal duct obstruction,have been extensively studied,whereas others,like eyelid malposition and thyroid eye disease,have received minimal or no *** To investigate the current practice patterns among ophthalmologists while treating concomitant oculoplastic conditions before any subspecialty ophthalmic *** A cross-sectional survey was disseminated among ophthalmologists all over *** survey included questions related to pre-operative evaluation,anaesthetic and surgical techniques preferred,post-operative care,the use of adjunctive therapies,and patient follow-up *** A total of 180 ophthalmologists responded to the *** practitioners(89%)felt that the ROPLAS test was sufficient during pre-operative evaluation before any subspecialty surgery was *** most common surgical techniques employed were lacrimal drainage procedures(Dacryocystorhinostomy)(63.3%),eyelid malposition repair(36.9%),and ptosis repair(58.7%).Post-operatively,47.7%of respondents emphasized that at least a 4-week gap should be maintained after lacrimal drainage procedures and eyelid ***-seven percent of ophthalmologists felt that topical anaesthetic procedures should be preferred while performing ocular surgeries in thyroid eye disease *** Approximately 50%of ophthalmologists handle prevalent oculoplastic issues themselves,seeking the expertise of an oculoplastic surgeon under particular *** ophthalmologists still favor using ROPLAS as a preliminary screening method before proceeding with cataract *** conditions and thyroid eye disease are not as commonly addressed before subspecialty procedures compared to issues like nasolacrimal duct obstruction and periocular infections.

Mechanical and physical characterization of sodium hydroxide treated Borassus fruit fibers

In order to improve the properties by chemical modification and to optimize the alkali concentration, we treated Borassus fruit fine fibers with aqueous sodium hydroxide solutions of different concentra- tions. In each case, the tensile properties of the fibers were determined. The morphology of the untreated and alkali treated fibers was observed using scanning electron microscope. The surface of the fibers became rough on alkali treatment. The tensile properties of the fibers improved on alkali treatment. The fibers attained maximum tensile properties when treated with 15% aqueous sodium hydroxide solution and decreased thereafter. The crystallinity index of the fibers showed a similar trend. The thermal stability of the alkali treated fibers was found to be higher than that of untreated fibers. Further, the char content was maximum for fibers treated with alkali having concentration of 15% and above. The chemical composition indicated that the percentageof a-cellulose was maximum when the fibers were treated with 15% aqueous sodium hydroxide solution and then decreased thereafter thus indicating the beginning of degradation of the fibers at higher concentrations. Thus, the optimum concentration of NaOH was established as 15% for alkali treatment of the Borassus fibers.

India imposed the largest lockdown in the world in response toﬁght the spread of the Novel Coronavirus disease(COVID-19)from 19 March till 31 May *** onset of the pandemic left the general public feeling psycho-socially distressed,helpless,and *** researcher developed a Messenger supported Chatbot,based on the broaden and build model,to cater to the healthy general public to promote positivity and mental well-being.31 participants between 22 and 45 years old consensually took a pre-test,Chatbot intervention,and *** Chatbot provided guided activities out of which positive afﬁrmations,meditation,and exercises were mostly *** qualitative data from the study shows that the majority of the participants strongly feel positivity is within themselves and that the tool provided a self-help approach to be me well,mentally during the *** intervention helped signiﬁcantly reducing symptoms of psychosocial distress in six of the individual’s post-chatbot ***’impressions of the tool suggest more preponderant opportunities for future research in technology-driven mental health support.
