Observed weather and projected climate change suggest an increase in the transmission of vector-borne diseases(VBDs)in the Hindu Kush Himalayan(HKH)*** this study,we systematically explore the literature for empiric associations between the climate variables and specific VBDs and their vectors in the HKH *** conducted a systematic synthesis of the published literature on climate variables,VBDs and vectors in the HKH region until the 8th of December *** majority of studies show significant positive associations of VBDs with climatic factors,such as temperature,precipitation,relative humidity,*** systematic review allowed us to identify the most significant variables to be considered for evidence-based trend estimates of the effects of climate change on VBDs and their vectors in the HKH *** evidence-based trend was set into the context of climate change as well as the observed expansion of VBDs and disease vectors in the HKH *** geographic range of VBDs expanded into previously considered non-endemic areas of highlands(mountains)in the HKH region.B ased on scarce,but clear evidence of a positive relationship of most climate variables and VBDs and the observed climatic changes,we strongly recommend an expansion of vector control and surveillance programmes in areas of the HKH region that were previously considered to be non-endemic.

Asia and its Hindu Kush Himalayan(HKH)region is particularly vulnerable to environmental change,especially climate and land use changes further influenced by rapid population growth,high level of poverty and unsustainable *** has been a hotspot of dengue fever and chikungunya mainly due to its dense human population,unplanned urbanization and *** an urban cycle,dengue virus(DENV)and chikungunya virus(CHIKV)are transmitted by Aedes aegypti and *** mosquitoes which are also competent vectors of Zika virus(ZIKV).Over the last decade,DENV and CHIKV transmissions by *** have extended to the Himalayan countries of Bhutan and Nepal and ZIKV could follow in the footsteps of these viruses in the HKH *** already established distribution of human-biting Aedes mosquito vectors and a naïve population with lack of immunity against ZIKV places the HKH region at a higher risk of *** of the countries in the HKH region have already reported ZIKV *** have documented an increasing threat of ZIKV in Asia and its HKH region because of the high abundance and wide distribution of human-biting mosquito vectors,climate change,poverty,report of indigenous cases in the region,increasing numbers of imported cases and a naïve population with lack of immunity against *** outbreak anywhere is potentially a threat ***,in order to ensure international health security,all efforts to prevent,detect,and respond to ZIKV ought to be intensified now in Asia and its HKH *** prepare for possible ZIKV outbreaks,Asia and the HKH region can also learn from the success stories and strategies adopted by other regions and countries in preventing ZIKV and associated *** future control strategies for DENV,CHIKV and ZIKV should be considered in tandem with the threat to human well-being that is posed by other emerging and re-emerging vector-borne and zoonotic diseases,and by the continuing urgent need to strengthen public

Objective:To explore and understand the attitude towards dengue vaccination and its modifiable determinants among inhabitants of Aceh(northern Sumatra Island,Indonesia),the region that was most severely affected by the earthquake and tsunami of 26 December ***:A communitybased,cross-sectional study was conducted among 535 healthy inhabitants in nine regencies(Kabupaten or Kotamadya) of Aceh that were selected randomly from November 2014 to March 2015.A set of validated,pre-tested,structured questionnaires was used to guide the *** questionnaires covered a range of explanatory variables and one outcome variable(attitude to dengue vaccination).Multi-step logistic regression analysis and Spearman's rank correlation were used to test the role of explanatory variables for the outcome ***:More than 70%of the participants had a poor attitude towards dengue *** determinants associated with poor attitude to dengue vaccination were low education level,working as farmers and traditional market traders,low socioeconomic status and poor knowledge,attitude and practice regarding dengue fever(P<0.05).The KAP domain scores were correlated strongly with attitude to dengue vaccination,r_s=0.25,r_S=0.67 and r_s=0.20,respectively(P<0.001).Multivariate analysis found that independent predictors associated with attitude towards dengue vaccination among study participants were only sex and attitude towards dengue fever(P<0.001).Conclusions:This study reveals that low KAP regarding dengue fever,low education level and low socioeconomic status are associated with a poor attitude towards dengue ***,inhabitants of suburbs who are working as larmers or traditional market traders with low socioeconomic status are the most appropriate target group for a dengue vaccine introduction program.

Therapy-refractory gastrointestinal motility disorder in a child with c-kit mutations

Constipation and fecal impaction are frequent and distressing complaints in pediatric gastroenterology. Especially in neurologically handicapped children, treatment of severe forms of slow-transit constipation (STC) can be difficult. In the majority of cases, STC is of unknown etiology. However, in recent years, there is growing evidence that interstitial cells of Cajal (ICCs), which serve as electrical pacemakers and generate spontaneous electrical slow waves in the gastrointestinal tract, might play an important role in the pathophysiology of STC. It remains unclear whether morphological ICC alterations seen in affected patients are based on congenital developmental anomalies, or whether they are a consequence of long-term constipation with secondary damage of the gastrointestinal nervous system. To the best of our knowledge, we present the first case of a patient with histological alterations in ICC morphology who displayed multiple alterations of c-kit at the level of mRNA. The protein encoded by c-kit is the receptor tyrosine kinase Kit (CD117), which is crucial for development and function of ICCs. Therefore, these findings provide a new explanation for congenital alterations of ICC development that result in gastrointestinal motility disorders.

随着高层建筑的蓬勃发展,中国投资公司在柬埔寨大力兴建高层办公楼和高层住宅建筑。约50层高的高层建筑将建设于首都金边及柬埔寨其他省份,这些区域分属于不同地貌类型。高层建筑对风荷载十分敏感,风荷载和风致响应对高层建筑结构设计非常重要。本文采用高频压力试验(HFPT)研究了方形截面高层建筑的气动风荷载特性和风振响应特性,为高层建筑在柬埔寨的建设提供了有力参考。主要内容如下:(1)对两种不同风场下1:400方形截面建筑高层建筑模型进行了高频测压风洞试验。并基于风洞试验给出了如风压系数、阻力系数、升力系数和扭力系数等风荷载在时域和频域内的特征。(2)基于风洞试验所得风荷载和对结构振动模态的假定,利用随机振动理论分析了两种风场下高层建筑风致位移响应和风致加速度响应随阻尼比和频率的变化。(3)依据柬埔寨目前所使用的美国土木工程协会规范所规定,对高层建筑风荷载和风致响应进行了计算。通过对比风洞试验响应计算结果和美国规范响应计算结果,给出了相应的设计建议。

An Action Research of Using Problem-Centered Double-Cycles Instructional Model to Implement ModeI-Elicitng Activity

The purpose of the study was to use the Problem-Centered Double-Cycles Instructional Model （PCDC-IM）（1995, Chang） to help the teacher （Lin） implement model-eliciting activity （MEA） in her mathematics classes. In this study, there were 31 students divided in 10 groups and engaged in the MEA ＂Who saved the oriental cherry trees＂. Data collections included the learning sheets, journals and debriefing forms of students, teaching and reflection journals, observation reports, and field notes of teachers, reflection journals and interview reports of researchers, video tapes and records of the classes and meetings. There were four parts of the teaching cycle in PCDC-IM, namely task, guidance, environment and analysis. We summarized developing and implementing the MEA in ＂Task＂ aspect, 5 principles and 5 kinds of teachers＇ roles in ＂Guidance＂ aspect, 2 elements and 5 features in ＂Environment＂ aspect and data in ＂Analysis＂ aspect. The findings showed that PCDC-IM was helpful for mathematics teachers who want to change their instruction from lecture into modeling teaching.

Determination of the Occurrence and Elimination of Endocrine Disrupting Compounds (EDCs) in Municipal Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP)

In recent years, many research and development activities have focussed on endocrine disrupting compounds (EDCs) in rivers, lakes and surface waters as the potential cause of reproductive disturbances in different aquatic organisms e.g. fish and mollusk. The effluent of wastewater treatment plants was identified as main source for EDCs entering the aquatic environment. The purpose of the present study was to determine the estrogenic activity of wastewater and the elimination efficiency of various WWTPs in the different purification steps using the E-screen assay, an in-vitro test system based on the increasing proliferation of human breast cancer cells (MCF-7) in response to the presence of hormonal active substances. In contrast to expensive and time-intensive targeted instrumental single substance analysis an effect-related biological testing provides a sum parameter for the entirety of compounds contributing to the total estrogenic activity (agonists and antagonists, anti-estrogenic and also toxic compounds) in concentration units of the reference substance 17b-estradiol. The current standard purification methods of biological wastewater treatment in particular the activated sludge process significantly reduce estrogenicity (average 95%). Sorption on activated carbon and subsequent precipitation leads to a further reduction of the overall estrogenic activity up to 99%.
