Although testing wastewater for public health surveillance has recently received significant attention in the united States,researchers and public health professionals have long realized the tremendous promise of environmental surveillance(eS),defined as tracking pathogens of interest in fecally contaminated surface waters,soil,or fomites,in low-resource settings for public health action.1,2 The power of eS in lowresource settings is most clearly illustrated with the over 30 years of well-established and standardized polio *** part of the Global polio eradication Initiative,the World Health Organization(WHO)has accredited 146 laboratories within the Global polio Lab Network(GpLN).These facilities across 92 countries process over 8,000 wastewater or fecally contaminated surface water samples per year,in addition to over 220,000 stool samples annually.3 The data generated from the GpLN are closely linked to clear public health action related to targeted vaccination *** investment and adoption of eS for polio eradication efforts serves as a use-case for other targets of *** explore the current state of the field,the National Science Foundation-funded research Coordination Network(RCN)on Wastewater Based epidemiology for SARS-CoV-2 and emerging public Health Threats held a workshop in december 2023 to discuss the opportunities and challenges for eS in low-resource settings(Figure 1).discussions during the workshop highlighted knowledge gaps,best-practices,target selection,academic/government/private partnerships and overall public health action and sustainability of these programs.

In this work,we designed a novel NiCoCr-based medium-entropy alloy(meA)strengthened by coher-ent L12-nanoparticles,i.e.,(NiCoCr)92 Al 6 Ta 2(at.%).The strengthening and deformation mechanisms of the material and the coarsening kinetics of the coherent precipitates were systematically *** results indicated that giant precipitation hardening and its synergy with other strengthening contributors confer on the aged material a yield strength as high as 1.0 ***,a unique particle-features-dependent plasticity mechanism was revealed in this *** is,the alloy with a lower volume frac-tion,denser distribution,and finer particles mainly deformed by dislocation planar slip,otherwise,stack-faults-mediated plasticity was favored,rationalized by the cooperative/competitive effect of stack-fault energy,spatial confinement,and applied ***,the coarsening behavior of precipitate fol-lowed a modified Lifshitz-Slyozov-Wagner(LSW)model,and the nanoparticles displayed remarkably su-perior thermal stability compared to most traditional superalloys and reported multicomponent *** superb coarsening resistance of precipitate originated from the coupled effect of intrinsic sluggish diffusion in multi-principal alloys and the dual-roles of Ta species as a precipitate *** work provides a new pathway to develop strong-yet-ductile multicomponent alloys as promising candidates for high-temperature applications.

Objective. To determine the feasibility and efficacy of sequential gemcitabine- carboplatin followed by paclitaxel- carboplatin in the first- line treatment of advanced epit-helial ovarian cancer, with the response rate as the primary endpoint. methods. After primary laparotomy, 56 patients with FIGO Stages III- IV disease were given 4 cycles of gemcitabine 1000 mg/m2 d1,8 and carboplatin AuC5 (44 patients) or AuC6 (12 patients) d1 q3wk followed by 4 cycles of paclitaxel 175 mg/m2 d1 and carboplatin AuC5/6 q3wk. Of the tumors, 43 were serous, 6 clear cell, 4 endometrioid, and 3 anaplastic type. Thirty- seven (66.1% ) of the patients were suboptimally debulked. Results. Forty-seven patients were evaluable for response by CA- 125 criteria, and 46 (98% ) responded. Thirty patients (after gemcitabine- carboplatin) and 24 (after paclitaxel- carboplatin) were evaluable for response by CT (ReCIST criteria), respectively. After the four gemcitabine- carboplatin cycles, the objective response rate was 83% (6 CR, 19 pR). Following completion of the whole sequential regimen, 7 patients showed a CR and 15 a pR, respectively, giving a response rate of 92% . The median progression- free survival was 12.8 months after a median follow- up of 19 months (range 7- 35 months)- .The median overall survival has not been reached yet. The main toxicity was neutropenia as 139/221 (62.9% ) of the gemcitabine- carboplatin cycles and 92/181 (50.8% ) of the paclitaxel- carboplatin cycles, respectively, were associated with Grades 3- 4 neutropenia. Neutropenia was reported as a serious adverse event in 5.7% of the cycles, and GCSF support was needed in 18.4% of the cycles. Only the gemcitabine- carboplatin cycles were associated with a marked thrombocytopenia (32.1% Grades 3- 4). Of the other side effects, marked allergy occurred in 14/52 (27% ) exposed to paclitaxel. 目的　研究幽门螺杆菌（Ｈｐ）感染与小儿慢性胃炎、消化性溃疡病之间的关系，探讨Ｈｐ的致病性。方法　我们对经胃镜检查证实的２４５例非溃疡性消化不良与６３例消化性溃疡患儿胃镜取材做Ｈｐ培养、快速尿素酶试验、病理学检查及血清Ｈｐ ＩｇＧ抗体测定。结果　在５６例十二指肠溃疡中Ｈｐ感染率为８３．９３％，７例胃溃疡为２８．５７％，２２４例慢性浅表性胃炎为４９．１１％，１１例慢性萎缩性胃炎为９０．０１％，其中３３例慢性活动性胃炎为９６．９７％，轻度胃炎为３２．７０％，中度胃炎为８３．７８％，而１０例正常胃粘膜者无１例发现Ｈｐ。结论　Ｈｐ感染与小儿胃十二指肠疾病密切相关，尤其是活动性胃炎和十二指肠溃疡。

The cryptic lifestyle of most fungi necessitates molecular identification of the guild in environmental *** the past decades,rapid development and affordability of molecular tools have tremendously improved insights of the fungal diversity in all ecosystems and ***,in spite of the progress of molecular methods,knowledge about functional properties of the fungal taxa is vague and interpretation of environmental studies in an ecologically meaningful manner remains *** order to facilitate functional assignments and ecological interpretation of environmental studies we introduce a user friendly traits and character database FungalTraits operating at genus and species hypothesis *** the information from previous efforts such as FuNGuild and FunFun together with involvement of expert knowledge,we reannotated 10,210 and 151 fungal and Stramenopila genera,*** resulted in a stand-alone spreadsheet dataset covering 17 lifestyle related traits of fungal and Stramenopila genera,designed for rapid functional assignments of environmental *** order to assign the trait states to fungal species hypotheses,the scientific community of experts manually categorised and assigned available trait information to 697,413 fungal ITS *** the basis of those sequences we were able to summarise trait and host information into 92,623 fungal species hypotheses at 1%dissimilarity threshold.
