Severe Musculoskeletal Injuries in Children during Play

Introduction: Musculoskeletal injuries are common in children but rarely severe. Their treatment varies according to the type of injury observed. The aim was to describe the epidemiological and therapeutic aspects of severe musculoskeletal injuries in children during play. Patients and Methods: This was a retrospective descriptive study conducted in the Orthopaedic-Traumatology Department and the Paediatric Surgery Unit of the University Hospital of Bouaké between January 2018 and December 2020. It concerned patients less than 16 years of age hospitalised for more than 24 hours for a musculoskeletal trauma following a gambling accident. The variables studied were epidemiological and therapeutic. Results: A total of 53 patients were collected. The frequency was 2.9%. The mean age was 9 ± 3.99 years. There were 38 (71.7%) boys and 15 (28.3%) girls. The sex ratio was 2.5. The patients were attending school in 79.3% (n = 42). The circumstances of occurrence were dominated by falls during play accidents (n = 35;66%). Football was observed in 93.5% (n = 49). The thoracic limb (n = 35;66%) was the preferred site of these injuries. The injuries were closed (86.7%) with a predominance of forearm fractures (n = 22;41.6%). The average hospital stay was 2.8 ± 1.4 days. Most of the patients were treated orthopedically (n = 37;69.9%). The evolution was favourable without complications. Conclusion: Musculoskeletal injuries during play were infrequent (2.9%). The circumstances were dominated by falls during play. The injuries were mainly closed fractures, most of which were treated orthopedically.

Static Analysis Techniques for Fixing Software Defects in MPI-Based Parallel Programs

The Message Passing Interface (MPI) is a widely accepted standard for parallel computing on distributed ***, MPI implementations can contain defects that impact the reliability and performance of parallelapplications. Detecting and correcting these defects is crucial, yet there is a lack of published models specificallydesigned for correctingMPI defects. To address this, we propose a model for detecting and correcting MPI defects(DC_MPI), which aims to detect and correct defects in various types of MPI communication, including blockingpoint-to-point (BPTP), nonblocking point-to-point (NBPTP), and collective communication (CC). The defectsaddressed by the DC_MPI model include illegal MPI calls, deadlocks (DL), race conditions (RC), and messagemismatches (MM). To assess the effectiveness of the DC_MPI model, we performed experiments on a datasetconsisting of 40 MPI codes. The results indicate that the model achieved a detection rate of 37 out of 40 codes,resulting in an overall detection accuracy of 92.5%. Additionally, the execution duration of the DC_MPI modelranged from 0.81 to 1.36 s. These findings show that the DC_MPI model is useful in detecting and correctingdefects in MPI implementations, thereby enhancing the reliability and performance of parallel applications. TheDC_MPImodel fills an important research gap and provides a valuable tool for improving the quality ofMPI-basedparallel computing systems.

Assemblage at public places for religious or sports events has become an integral part of our *** gatherings pose a challenge at places where fast crowd verification with social distancing(SD)is required,especially during a ***,verification of crowds is carried out in the form of a queue that increases waiting time resulting in congestion,stampede,and the spread of *** article proposes a cluster verification model(CVM)using a wireless sensor network(WSN),single cluster approach(SCA),and split cluster approach(SpCA)to solve the aforementioned problem for pandemic *** show that SD,cluster approaches,and verification by WSN can overcome the management issues by optimizing the cluster size and verification ***,our proposed method minimizes the chances of spreading diseases and stampedes in large events such as a *** consider the assembly points in the annual pilgrimage to Makkah Al-Mukarmah and Umrah for verification using Contiki/Cooja *** compute results such as verified cluster members(CMs)to define cluster size,success rate to determine the best success rate,and verification time to determine the optimal verification time for various *** validate ourmodel by comparing the results of each approach with the existing *** results showthat the SpCAwith SD is the best approach with a 96% success rate and optimization of verification time as compared to SCA with SD and the existing model.

Genetic Algorithm Combined with the K-Means Algorithm:A Hybrid Technique for Unsupervised Feature Selection

The dimensionality of data is increasing very rapidly,which creates challenges for most of the current mining and learning algorithms,such as large memory requirements and high computational *** literature includes much research on feature selection for supervised ***,feature selection for unsupervised learning has only recently been *** the subset of features in unsupervised learning that enhances the performance is challenging since the clusters are *** work proposes a hybrid technique for unsupervised feature selection called GAk-MEANS,which combines the genetic algorithm(GA)approach with the classical k-Means *** the proposed algorithm,a new fitness func-tion is designed in addition to new smart crossover and mutation *** effectiveness of this algorithm is demonstrated on various ***-thermore,the performance of GAk-MEANS has been compared with other genetic algorithms,such as the genetic algorithm using the Sammon Error Function and the genetic algorithm using the Sum of Squared Error ***,the performance of GAk-MEANS is compared with the state-of-the-art statistical unsupervised feature selection *** results show that GAk-MEANS consistently selects subsets of features that result in better classification accuracy compared to *** particular,GAk-MEANS is able to significantly reduce the size of the subset of selected features by an average of 86.35%(72%–96.14%),which leads to an increase of the accuracy by an average of 3.78%(1.05%–6.32%)compared to using all *** compared with the genetic algorithm using the Sammon Error Function,GAk-MEANS is able to reduce the size of the subset of selected features by 41.29%on average,improve the accuracy by 5.37%,and reduce the time by 70.71%.When compared with the genetic algorithm using the Sum of Squared Error Function,GAk-MEANS on average is able to reduce the size of the subset of selected feature

Social media platforms provide new value for markets and research *** article explores the use of social media data to enhance customer value *** case study involves a company that develops wearable Internet of Things(IoT)devices and services for stress *** and semantic annotation for recognizing and categorizing the context of tweets are conducted to gain a better understanding of users’stress management *** aim is to analyze the tweets about stress management practices and to identify the context from the ***,we map the tweets on pleasure and arousal to elicit customer *** analyzed a case study of a marketing strategy on the Twitter *** in the marketing campaign shared photos and texts about their stress management *** learning techniques were used to evaluate and estimate the emotions and contexts of the tweets posted by the campaign *** computational semantic analysis of the tweets was compared to the text analysis of the *** content analysis of only tweet images resulted in 96%accuracy in detecting tweet context,while that of the textual content of tweets yielded an accuracy of 91%.Semantic tagging by Ontotext was able to detect correct tweet context with an accuracy of 50%.

Renewable electricity options, such as fuel cells, solar photovoltaic,and batteries, are being integrated, which has made DC micro-grids *** DC micro-grid systems, a multi input interleaved non-isolated dc-dcconverter is suggested by the use of coupled inductor techniques. Since itcompensates for mismatches in photovoltaic devices and allows for separateand continuous power flow from these sources. The proposed converter hasthe benefits of high gain, a low ripple in the output voltage, minimal stressvoltage across the power semiconductor devices, a low ripple in inductorcurrent, high power density, and high efficiency. Soft-switching techniquesare used to realize that the reverse recovery issue of the diodes is moderated, the leakage energy is reused, and no new scheme is appropriated. Toreduce conduction losses, minimum voltage rating MOSFETs with a low ONresistance can be utilized. The converter can supply the required power fromthe load in the absence of one or two resources. Furthermore, due to the highgain of boosting voltage, the converter works in an Adaptive Neuro-FuzzyInference System (ANFIS). The operation principle, steady-state analysis ofthe proposed converter, is given and simulated utilizing MATLAB/Simulinksimulation software.

Anti-tumor effects and cellular mechanisms of Pistacia atlantica methanolic extract against Ehrlich solid tumor in mice

Objective:To assess the anti-tumor effects of Pistacia atlantica methanolic extract(PAME)compared with cyclophosphamide against Ehrlich solid tumors in ***:Swiss albino mice(n=40)were divided into five groups:normal control mice,mice with Ehrlich solid tumors treated with normal saline,mice with Ehrlich solid tumors treated with cyclophosphamide intraperitoneally once a day for 14 d,or 50mg/kg or 100 mg/kg PAME orally once a day for 14 *** growth inhibition,body weight,tumor markers,liver and kidney enzymes,oxidative stress markers,antioxidant enzymes,tumor necrosis factor-alpha level(TNF-α),and apoptosis-regulatory gene expression were ***:Treatment of mice bearing Ehrlich solid tumors with PAME at 50 and 100 mg/kg orally significantly decreased tumor volume,body weight,tumor markers,liver and kidney enzymes,oxidative stress markers and TNF-αlevel in comparison with mice with Ehrlich solid tumors receiving normal *** PAME at 50 and 100 mg/kg/day significantly elevated the level of antioxidant enzymes(P<0.05).Conclusions:Pistacia atlantica methanolic extract has potent antitumor activity in ***,the extract might be considered as an alternative anticancer agent against tumors,however,additional studies especially in the clinical setting are required to confirm this finding.
