Conductivity s and thermal conductivity k are directly related to carrier concentration while Seebeck coefficient S is inversely proportional to carrier ***,improving thermoelectric(TE)performance is ***,the first-time analysis of secondary phase-controlled TE performance in terms of density-of-state effective mass m*d,weighted mobility mw and quality factor B is discussed in ZnO *** results show that the secondary spinel phase Ga2O_(3)(ZnO)9 not only impacts on k but also on s and S at high temperature,while the effect of carrier concentration seem to be dominant at low *** the high-spinel-segregation sample,a compensation of dopant atoms from the spinel to substitutional sites in the ZnO matrix at high temperature leads to a low decreased rate of temperaturedependent m**** compensation process also induces a band sharpening,a small mw reduction,and a large B *** a result,In and Ga co-doped ZnO bulk with the highest spinel segregation achieves the greatest PF improvement by 112.8%,owing to enhanced Seebeck coefficient by 110%as compared to the good Zn-substitution sample.

AIM To develop a novel Helicobacter pylori(***)CagA antibody enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)suitable for detecting serum anti-CagA antibodies with high *** Recombinant East Asian-type CagA protein was purified and immobilized for *** samples from 217Vietnamese individuals(110 ***-infected and107 uninfected individuals)were *** ELISA from Western-type CagA and our East Asian-type CagA ELISA were evaluated by comparing 38 subjects with the Western-type genotype and 72 subjects with the East Asian-type cagA *** scores of the gastric mucosa were determined using the updated Sydney System to examine the relationship with anti-CagA antibody *** Recombinant 70-100 k Da fragments were immobilized on the ELISA *** ROC analysis,the area under the curve of our East Asian-type CagA ELISA was comparable to that of conventional CagA *** sensitivity of the two ELISAs differed depending on the cagA *** sensitivity of East Asian-type Cag A ELISA was higher for subjects infected with East Asiantype cagA ***(P<0.001),and the sensitivity of the conventional CagA ELISA tended to be higher for subjects infected with Western cagA ***(P=0.056).The titer of anti-CagA antibody tended to correlate with monocyte infiltration scores(r=0.25,P=0.058)and was inversely correlated with *** density(r=-0.26,P=0.043).CONCLUSION The novel ELISA is useful to detect anti-CagA antibodies in East Asian countries,and the titer may be a marker for predicting chronic gastritis.

Object-Based vs. Pixel-Based Classification of Mangrove Forest Mapping in Vien An Dong Commune, Ngoc Hien District, Ca Mau Province Using VNREDSat-1 Images

Many researches have been performed comparing object-based classification (OBC) and pixel-based classification (PBC), particularly in classifying high-resolution satellite images. VNREDSat-1 is the first optical remote sensing satellite of Vietnam with resolution of 2.5 m (Panchromatic) and 10 m (Multispectral). The objective of this research is to compare two classification approaches using VNREDSat-1 image for mapping mangrove forest in Vien An Dong commune, Ngoc Hien district, Ca Mau province. ISODATA algorithm (in PBC method) and membership function classifier (in OBC method) were chosen to classify the same image. The results show that the overall accuracies of OBC and PBC are 73% and 62.16% respectively, and OBC solved the “salt and pepper” which is the main issue of PBC as well. Therefore, OBC is supposed to be the better approach to classify VNREDSat-1 for mapping mangrove forest in Ngoc Hien commune.

Environmental and External Costs of Yali Hydropower Plant and Policy Recommendations in Vietnam

The purpose of this study is to estimate the monetary value of the main environmental and external costs of Yali Hydropower Plant (YHPP) and to incorporate them into the financial viability indices of the plant, namely its net present value and electricity price. The results were found that if the electricity price is kept at its original level of 5.2 US cents/kWh to cover direct costs only, the net present value of the plant would be reduced to about 27% by incorporating environmental and external costs. Alternatively, the electricity price would have to be increased to 5.68 US cents/kWh in order to cover the full costs of YHPP and to maintain the original net present value. The main policy recommendations are: Government regulations should require that the financial analysis and appraisal of all future electricity sources include the full cost of these schemes, including not only direct costs but also environmental and external costs related to preventing or mitigating the environmental impact caused by them. An appropriate financial mechanism should be established to allocate the revenue from full cost electricity pricing to a fund to cover the environmental protection and compensation costs.
