Background: In order to end tuberculosis(TB),it is necessary to expand coverage of TB care services,including systematic screening ***,more evidence is needed for groups among whom systematic screening is only conditionally recommended by the World Health *** study evaluated concurrent screening in multiple target groups using community health workers(CHW).Methods:: In our two-year intervention study lasting from October 2017 to September 2019,CHWs in six districts of Ho Chi Minh City,Viet nam verbally screened three urban priority groups:(1)household TB contacts;(2)close TB contacts;and(3)residents of urban priority areas without clear documented exposure to TB including hotspots,boarding homes and urban *** persons were referred for further screening with chest radiography and follow-on testing with the Xpert MTB/RIF *** individuals with normal or without radiography results were tested on smear *** described the TB care cascade and characteristics for each priority group,and calculated yield and number needed to ***,we fitted a mixed-effect logistic regression to identify the association of these target groups and secondary patient covariates with TB treatment ***: We verbally screened 321020 people including 24232 household contacts,3182 social and close contacts and 293606 residents of urban priority *** resulted in 1138 persons treated for TB,of whom 85 were household contacts,39 were close contacts and 1014 belonged to urban priority area *** yield of active TB in these groups was 351,1226 and 345 per 100000,respectively,corresponding to numbers needed to screen of 285,82 and *** fitted model showed that close contacts[adjusted odds ratio(aOR)=2.07;95%CI:1.38–3.11;P<0.001]and urban priority area residents(aOR=2.18;95%CI:1.69–2.79;P<0.001)had a greater risk of active TB than household ***: The study detected a large number of un

Preparation and Characterization of Silver Doped ZnO Nanostructures

ZnO was prepared by hydrothermal method. The result of scanning electron microscopy showed that the materials had nano rod structures. Ag-doped ZnO was prepared by UV-photoreduction. Crystalline phases and optical absorption of the prepared Ag-doped ZnO samples were determined by X-ray diffraction, Raman spectrum, UV-visible, and UV- photoreduction spectrophotometer. X-ray analyses revealed that Ag was doped ZnO crystallizes in hexagonal wurtzite structure. The incorporation of Ag+ in the site of Zn2+ provoked an increase in the size of nanocrystals as compared to pure ZnO. The photocatalytic and photoluminescence properties of materials were considered.

Biomass accumulation of Panax vietnamensis in cell suspension cultures varies with addition of plant growth regulators and organic additives

Objective: To evaluate the impact of plant growth regulators including kinetin(KN),benzyl adenine and naphthalene acetic acid, yeast extract and casein hydrolyzate on biomass accumulation of Vietnamese ginseng Panax vietnamensis(P. vietnamensis) in cell suspension ***: Cell suspension cultures were established from friable calluses derived from leaves and petioles of 3-year-old in-vitro P. vietnamensis plants. The cell suspension cultures were grown in Murashige and Skoog basal media supplemented with various concentrations of KN, benzyl adenine, naphthalene acetic acid, and yeast extract and casein ***: All tested factors generated an increase in the cell biomass of P. vietnamensis in suspension culture, but the impact of each varies depended on the factor type, concentration, and incubation period. Addition of 2.0 mg/L KN resulted in the largest biomass increase after 24 d,(57.0 ± 0.9) and(3.1 ± 0.1) mg/m L fresh and dry weight, respectively,whereas addition of benzyl adenine or naphthalene acetic acid produced optimum levels of Panax cell biomass at 1.0 and 1.5 mg/L, respectively. Addition of the elicitor yeast extract led to a 1.4–2.4 fold increase in biomass of P. vietnamensis, while addition of casein hydrolyzate enhanced biomass accumulation 1.8–2.6 ***: The addition of each factor causes significant changes in biomass accumulation of P. vietnamensis. The largest biomass accumulation is from cultures grown in MS media containing 2.0 mg/L KN for 24 d. The outcome of the present study provides new insights into the optimal suspension culture conditions for studies on the in vitro cell biomass production of P. vietnamensis.

Improving the accuracy of flood prediction and mapping is crucial for reducing damage resulting from flood *** this study,we proposed and validated three ensemble models based on the Best First Decision Tree(BFT)and the Bagging(Bagging-BFT),Decorate(Bagging-BFT),and Random Subspace(RSS-BFT)ensemble learning techniques for an improved prediction of flood susceptibility in a spatially-explicit manner.A total number of 126 historical flood events from the Nghe An Province(Vietnam)were connected to a set of 10 flood influencing factors(slope,elevation,aspect,curvature,river density,distance from rivers,flow direction,geology,soil,and land use)for generating the training and validation *** models were validated via several performance metrics that demonstrated the capability of all three ensemble models in elucidating the underlying pattern of flood occurrences within the research area and predicting the probability of future flood *** on the Area Under the receiver operating characteristic Curve(AUC),the ensemble Decorate-BFT model that achieved an AUC value of 0.989 was identified as the superior model over the RSS-BFT(AUC=0.982)and Bagging-BFT(AUC=0.967)models.A comparison between the performance of the models and the models previously reported in the literature confirmed that our ensemble models provided a reliable estimate of flood susceptibilities and their resulting susceptibility maps are trustful for flood early warning systems as well as development of mitigation plans.

In recent years,droughts have strongly affected the Central Highlands of Vietnam and have resulted in crop damage,yield decline,and serious water *** study investigated the livelihood vulnerability of five communities of farmers who are exposed to droughts in one of the more vulnerable regions of Vietnam—Dak Nong Province.A survey of 250 households was conducted in the five communities to collect data on the region’s sociodemographic profile,livelihood systems,social networks,health status,food and water security,drought conditions,and climate *** were aggregated using a livelihood vulnerability index and the IPCC vulnerability *** survey results indicate that Quang Phu community is the most vulnerable of the study’s communities,followed by nam N’dir,Dak Nang,Duc Xuyen,and Dak D’ro in descending order of *** availability and livelihood strategies are the most important variables in determining the vulnerability of the five surveyed *** order to reduce vulnerability to droughts,water management practices and livelihood diversification in farming and nonfarming activities are recommended for the study area.

Biotic and abiotic factors control aboveground biomass(AGB)and the structure of forest *** study analyses the variation of AGB and stand structure of evergreen broadleaved forests among six ecoregions of Vietnam.A data set of 1731-ha plots from 52 locations in undisturbed old-growth forests was *** results indicate that basal area and AGB are closely correlated with annual precipitation,but not with annual temperature,evaporation or hours of *** area and AGB are positively correlated with trees>30 cm *** areas surveyed(52.6%)in these old-growth forests had AGB of 100–200 Mg ha^-1;5.2%had AGB of 400–500 Mg ha^-1,and 0.6%had AGB of>800 Mg ha^-*** percent of the areas surveyed had stand densities of 300–600 ***^-1,and 64%had basal areas of 20–40 m^2 ha^-*** is an important factor influencing the AGB of old-growth,evergreen broadleaved forests in *** causing the loss of large-diameter trees(e.g.,>100 cm DBH)affects AGB but may not seriously affect stand density.

Feature Analysis and Classification of Particle Data from Two-Dimensional Video Disdrometer

We developed a ground observation system for solid precipitation using two-dimensional video disdrometer (2DVD). Among 16,010 particles observed by the system, around 10% of them were randomly sampled and manually classified into five classes which are snowflake, snowflake-like, intermediate, graupel-like, and graupel. At first, each particle was represented as a vector of 72 features containing fractal dimension and box-count to represent the complexity of particle shape. Feature analysis on the dataset clarified the importance of fractal dimension and box-count features for characterizing particles varying from snowflakes to graupels. On the other hand, performance evaluation of two-class classification by Support Vector Machine (SVM) was conducted. The experimental results revealed that, by selecting only 10 features out of 72, the average accuracy of classifying particles into snowflakes and graupels could reach around 95.4%, which had not been achieved by previous studies.

Effects of parental age on offspring growth and survival in both wild and domesticated strains of bighead catfish(Clarias macrocephalus Günther,1864)

Understanding the relationship between fish parental age and offspring performance over their life cycle is crucial for *** study investigates the effect of parental age for both 1-and 2-year-old fish on the growth and survival rates of their larval to grow-out stages for two wild and domesticated strains of bighead catfish(Clarias macrocephalus).Fish were sampled from the Vietnamese Mekong Delta where wild adult fish were collected from a conservation area in Ca Mau Province and domesticated fish were taken from a hatchery in Can *** offspring treatments of 1-and 2-year-old broodstock strains were reared for 3 successive periods:40 days for fingerling rearing in static tanks with water exchange,60 days for juveniles,and 90 days for grow-out in recirculating *** final weight of fish at 190 days varied from 96.7 to 144.7 *** growth of offspring was not affected by parental age(P>0.05),over the 3 rearing ***,the domesticated fish strain showed significantly better growth rates than the wild fish strain(P<0.05).Feed conversion ratios were comparable across fish *** rates did not differ at the fingerling(21.8%-36.4%)and juvenile(69.0%-73.3%)***,significant differences were found at the grow-out stage(69.3%-84.0%),with offspring from 2-year-old parents of both strains having greater survival ***,1-and 2-year-old fish appear to be suitable for bighead catfish breeders.

Importance:Nutritional status of infants,measured by birth weight and length,is an essential factor in neonatal *** in newborns may lead to a higher risk of mortality,neurological and cognitive impairment,and poor language ***:This study aims to assess the nutritional status of infants and related factors regarding maternal anthropometric characteristics and medical ***:A cross-sectional study was conducted at the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology,Vietnam from May 2021 to May 2022 on 340 infants and *** birth weight was defined following the Intergrowth-21 *** was evaluated using the Fenton growth chart when the length was below the 10%percentile line of the gestational *** regression models were applied to identify factors associated with the nutritional status of ***:We found that 12.4%and 14.1%of infants in our study fell into stunted and underweight categories,*** of mothers over 35 years old,having a height lower than 150 cm or experiencing anemia during pregnancy were more likely to be stunted or have low birth *** albumin deficiency during pregnancy was strongly associated with the infant being underweight(odds ratio[OR]=2.8,95%confidence interval[95%CI]1.1–7.3).Newborns were more likely to be stunted if their mothers had a history of preterm birth(OR=3.3,95%CI 1.1–10.2).Interpretation:Maternal nutritional status is closely related to infant malnutrition,particularly in preterm *** the understanding of mothers regarding prenatal care,reproductive healthcare,adequate nutritional diet,and multi-micronutrient supplements during pregnancy is therefore important.
