Efficacy of 1.2L polyethylene glycol plus ascorbic acid for bowel preparations

BACKGROUND A low-volume polyethylene glycol(PEG) solution that combines ascorbic acid with PEG-based electrolyte solution(PEG-ASC) is gaining mainstream acceptance for bowel preparation due to reduced volume and improved *** several reports showed that bowel preparation with PEG-ASC volume lower than 2.0 L with laxative agents could be an alternative to traditional preparation regimen, the cleansing protocols have not been fully *** To evaluate the cleansing efficacy of 1.2 L PEG-ASC solution comparing with 2.0 L PEG electrolyte(PEG-ELS) for bowel *** A randomized, single-blinded, open-label, single-center, non-inferiority study was conducted. In total, 312 Japanese adult patients(aged > 18 years) who underwent colonoscopy were enrolled. Patients were randomly allocated to bowel lavage with either 1.2 L of PEG-ASC solution with at least 0.6 L of an additional clear fluid(1.2 L PEG-ASC group) or 2.0 L of PEG-ELS(PEG-ELS group). Then, 48 mg of sennoside was administered at bedtime on the day before colonoscopy, and the designated drug solution was administered at the hospital on the day of colonoscopy. Bowel cleansing was evaluated using the Boston Bowel Preparation Scale(BBPS). The volume of fluid intake and required time for bowel preparation were evaluated. Furthermore, compliance, patient tolerance,and overall acceptability were evaluated using a patient questionnaire, which was assessed using a visual analog *** In total, 291 patients(1.2 L PEG-ASC group, 148; PEG-ELS group, 143) completed the study. There was no significant difference in successful cleansing, defined as a BBPS score ≥ 2 in each segment, between the two groups(1.2 L PEG-ASC group, 91.9%; PEG-ELS group, 90.2%; 95%CI:-0.03-0.09). Quasi-periodic orbits of small solar sails with time-varying attitude around Earth–Moon libration points

This paper proposes new quasi-periodic orbits around Earth–Moon collinear libration points using solar *** including the time-varying sail orientation in the linearized equations of motion for the circular restricted three-body problem(CR3BP),four types of quasi-periodic orbits(two types around L1 and two types around L2)were *** them,one type of orbit around L2 realizes a considerably small geometry variation while ensuring visibility from the Earth if(and only if)the sail acceleration due to solar radiation pressure is approximately of a certain magnitude,which is much smaller than that assumed in several previous *** means that only small solar sails can remain in the vicinity of L2 for a long time without propellant *** orbits designed in the linearized CR3BP can be translated into nonlinear CR3BP and high-fidelity ephemeris models without losing geometrical *** this study,new quasi-periodic orbits are formulated,and their characteristics are ***,their extendibility to higher-fidelity dynamic models was verified using numerical examples.

Optimization of body configuration and joint-driven attitude stabilization for transformable spacecraft under solar radiation pressure

The solar sail is one of the most promising space exploration systems due to its theoretically infinite specific impulse achieved through solar radiation pressure(SRP).Recently,researchers have proposed“transformable spacecraft”capable of actively reconfiguring their body configurations using actuatable *** spacecraft,if used similarly to solar sails,are expected to significantly enhance orbit and attitude control capabilities owing to their high redundancy in control degrees of ***,controlling them becomes challenging due to their large number of inputs,leading previous researchers to impose strong constraints to limit their potential control *** study focuses on novel attitude control techniques for transformable spacecraft under *** developed two methods,namely,joint angle optimization to obtain arbitrary SRP force and torque,and momentum damping control driven by joint angle *** proposed methods are formulated in a general manner and can be applied to any transformable spacecraft comprising front faces that can predominantly receive the SRP on each *** validity of our proposed method is confirmed through numerical *** study contributes to making most of the high control redundancy of transformable spacecraft without the need for expendable propellants,thus significantly enhancing the orbit and attitude control capabilities.

Olympus Corporation developed texture and color enhancement imaging(TXI)as a novel image-enhancing endoscopic *** topic highlights a series of hot-topic articles that investigated the efficacy of TXI for gastrointestinal disease identification in the clinical setting.A randomized controlled trial demonstrated improvements in the colorectal adenoma detection rate(ADR)and the mean number of adenomas per procedure(MAP)of TXI compared with those of white-light imaging(WLI)observation(58.7%vs 42.7%,adjusted relative risk 1.35,95%CI:1.17-1.56;1.36 vs 0.89,adjusted incident risk ratio 1.48,95%CI:1.22-1.80,respectively).A cross-over study also showed that the colorectal MAP and ADR in TXI were higher than those in WLI(1.5 vs 1.0,adjusted odds ratio 1.4,95%CI:1.2-1.6;58.2%vs 46.8%,1.5,1.0-2.3,respectively).A randomized controlled trial demonstrated non-inferiority of TXI to narrow-band imaging in the colorectal mean number of adenomas and sessile serrated lesions per procedure(0.29 vs 0.30,difference for non-inferiority-0.01,95%CI:-0.10 to 0.08).A cohort study found that scoring for ulcerative colitis severity using TXI could predict relapse of ulcerative colitis.A cross-sectional study found that TXI improved the gastric cancer detection rate compared to WLI(0.71%vs 0.29%).A cross-sectional study revealed that the sensitivity and accuracy for active Helicobacter pylori gastritis in TXI were higher than those of WLI(69.2%vs 52.5%and 85.3%vs 78.7%,res-pectively).In conclusion,TXI can improve gastrointestinal lesion detection and qualitative ***,further studies on the efficacy of TXI in clinical practice are required.

On Exit Time from Balls of Jump-type Symmetric Markov Processes

We obtain upper and lower bounds of the exit times from balls of a jump-type symmetric Markov process. The proofs are delivered separately. The upper bounds are obtained by using the Levy system corresponding to the process, while the precise expression of the （L^2-）generator of the Dirichlet form associated with the process is used to obtain the lower bounds.

Induced embryonic stem (ES) cells are expected to be promising cell resources for the observation of the cell behaviors in developmental biology as well as the implantation in cell treatments in human diseases. A recombinant E-cadherin substratum was developed as a cell recognizable substratum to maintain the ES cells’ self-renewal and pluripotency at single cell level. Furthermore, the generation of various cell lineages in different germ layers, including hepatic or neural cells, was achieved on the chimeric protein layer precisely and effectively. The induction and isolation of specific cell population was carried out with the enhancing effect of other artificial extracellular matrices (ECMs) in enzyme-free process. The murine ES cell-derived cells showed highly morphological similarities and functional expressions to matured hepatocytes or neural progenitor cells.

The development of iterative learning control combined with disturbance-observer-based(DOB)control for the digital low-level radio frequency(LLRF)system of the International Linear Collider project is *** objective of this study is to compensate for both repetitive(or predictable)and unpredictable disturbances in a radio frequency system(e.g.,beam loading,Lorentz force detuning,and microphonics).The DOB control approach was verified using the LLRF system at the Superconducting Test Facility(STF)at KEK in the absence of a *** method comprising DOB control combined with an iterative learning control algorithm was then demonstrated in a cavity-simulator-based test bench,where a simulated beam was *** results showed that the performance of the LLRF system was improved,as expected by this combined control *** plan to further generalize this approach to LLRF systems at the STF and the future International Linear Collider project.

Kyoto classification of gastritis:Advances and future perspectives in endoscopic diagnosis of gastritis

This editorial provides an update of the recent evidence on the endoscopy-based Kyoto classification of gastritis,clarifying the shortcomings of the Kyoto classification,and providing prospects for future research,with particular focus on the histological subtypes of gastric cancer(GC)and Helicobacter pylori(***)infection *** total Kyoto score is designed to express GC risk on a score ranging from 0 to 8,based on the following five endoscopic findings:Atrophy,intestinal metaplasia(IM),enlarged folds(EF),nodularity,and diffuse redness(DR).The total Kyoto score reflects *** status as follows:0,≥2,and≥4 indicate a normal stomach,***-infected gastritis,and gastritis at risk for GC,*** arrangement of collecting venules(RAC)predicts noninfection;EF,nodularity,and DR predict current infection;map-like redness(MLR)predicts past infection;and atrophy and IM predict current or past ***,IM,and EF all increase the incidence of ***-infected *** is a specific risk factor for ***-eradicated GC,while RAC results in less ***-type GC can be induced by active inflammation,which presents as EF,nodularity,and atrophy on endoscopy,as well as neutrophil and mononuclear cell infiltration on *** contrast,intestinal-type GC develops via atrophy and IM,and is consistent between endoscopy and ***,this GC risk-scoring design needs to be improved.
