Due to the shortages of natural sands along the east coast of Australia in particular and the need to fully utilise fines produced in quarry operations, progress has been made in utilising blends of manufactured sands and natural sands in concrete pavements. This paper documents some of the constraints in utilising larger proportions of manufactured sands in concrete pavements. These constraints are mainly caused by the current level of knowledge regarding the impact of manufactured sands on skid and abrasion resistance of concrete pavements. This paper presents a brief review of literature on this subject in the USA, France and UK. It also briefly documents work recently carried out in Australia by CCAA （Cement Concrete and Aggregates Australia）, referring to the skid and abrasion resistance of concrete pavements using manufactured sands. The paper concludes that there is no relationship between the free silica content and the skid resistance. With regard to the abrasion resistance, it is rather the curing conditions and the compressive strength that are more important in achieving good results.

Mercury ion(Hg^(2+)),as one of the most toxic heavy metal ions,accumulates easily in the environment,which can generate potential hazards to the ecosystem and human *** effectively detect and remove Hg^(2+),we fabricated four types of carbon dots(CDs)using carboxymethyl nanocellulose as a carbon source doped with different elements using a hydrothermal *** the CDs exhibited a strong fluorescence emission,excitation-dependent emission and possessed good water ***,the four fluorescent CDs were used for Hg^(2+)recognition in aqueous solution,where the CDs-N exhibited better sensitivity and selectivity for Hg^(2+)detection,with a low limit of detection of 8.29×10^(-6)mol/*** was determined that the fluorescence quenching could be ascribed to a photoinduced charge-transfer processes between Hg^(2+)and the *** addition,the CDs-N were used as a smart invisible ink for anticounterfeiting,information encryption and ***,the CDs-N were immersed into a cellulose(CMC)-based hydrogel network to prepare fluorescent hydrogels capable of simultaneously detecting and adsorbing Hg^(2+).We anticipate that this research will open possibilities for a green method to synthesize fluorescent CDs for metal ion detection and fluorescent ink production.

This effort aims to determine the generation source sites in the Luzon Strait for energetic, long-crest, transbasin internal waves （IW） observed in the northern South China Sea （NSCS）. The roles of islands distributed on eastern side of the strait, Kuroshio, submarine ridges, shoaling thennocline, and strait configuration played in the IW generation are examined using the cruise data analysis, satellite data interpretation, and dynamical analysis. The islands and channels on eastern side of the strait are excluded from a list of possible IW source sites owing to their unmatched horizontal dimensions to the scale of IW crest line length, and the relative low Reynolds number. The Kuroshio has a potential to be a radiator for the long-crest IW disturbances, meanwhile, the Kurosbio west （east） wing absorbs the eastward （westward） propagating IW disturbance. Namely, the Kuroshio blockades the outside west-east propagating IW disturbances. The 3-D configuration of the Luzon Strait is characterized by a sudden, more than one order widening of the cross-section areas at the outlets on both sides, providing a favorable condition for IW type initial disturbance formation. In the Luzon Strait, the thermocline is featured by a westward shoaling all the year around, providing the dynamical conditions for the amplitude growth （declination） to the westward （eastward） propagating IW type disturbance. Thus, the west slope of western submarine ridge at the western outlet of the Luzon Strait is a high possibility source sites for energetic, long-crest, transbasin IWs in the NSCS. The interpretation results of satellite SAR images during a 13 a period from 1995 to 2007 provide the convincing evidence for the conclusions.

Objective:To investigate the antifibrotic effects of Chrysanthemum indicum ethanol extract(CIEE)against activated hepatic stellate cells(HSC)and thioacetamide(TAA)-induced hepatofibrosis in ***:Cell viability and proliferation of HSC-T6 cells were measured using MTT *** HSCs were used to study ***(200 mg/kg)was used to induced hepatic fibrosis in ***(100 and 500 mg/kg)and silymarin(50 mg/kg)were administered *** functions including alanine transaminase,aspartate transaminase,glutathione,and hydroxyproline levels were measured using commercial *** sections and fibrotic biomarker expression were measured using hematoxylin and eosin staining and real-time polymerase chain ***:In vitro study revealed that CIEE(0.1,0.25,and 0.5 mg/mL)inhibited the proliferation of activated HSCs exposed to transforming growth factor(TGF)-β and restored the activated primary HSC *** in vivo studies,TAA-induced increase in liver/body weight ratio(5.46±0.26)was significantly reduced(4.13±0.22)by CIEE(P<0.05 at 500 mg/kg).CIEE(100 and 500 mg/kg)improved the liver functions by significantly attenuating changes in alanine transaminase,aspartate transaminase,glutathione,and hydroxyproline levels(P<0.05).Further,CIEE(100 and 500 mg/kg)ameliorated the histological changes in liver tissue and TGF-β expression significantly(P<0.05)in TAA-induced ***:CIEE significantly protects against TAA-induced liver damage in rats and can be used in the treatment of liver fibrosis.

This paper presents state-of-the-art high Q single-mode dielectric resonator （DR） cavity filters for PCS wireless base stations. DR cavity filters shrink the cavity size significantly more than waveguide cavity filters and offer about twice higher Q than coaxial resonators. Thus, they have important applications in wireless base stations operating below 2.5 GHz. Dual-mode and triple-mode DR cavity filters have existed for a while; however, single-mode DR cavity filters are predominant because they are cheaper to manufacture. This paper summarizes the main characteristics of TE01 mode DR cavities, including mode chart and field distribution, and compares cavity Q with waveguide and combline （coaxial） cavities. Dielectric combline and TM010 mode DR cavities are analyzed and compared to TE01 mode DR cavities. General filter design techniques are discussed, and several design examples are given to show how filter technology has developed.

作为世界第四大粮食作物,马铃薯(Solanum tuberosum)经常受到盐碱等非生物胁迫从而造成产量减少。作为重要的转录因子之一, CBFs (C-repeat binding factor)在植物抵抗低温方面起到了重要作用,但对于其耐盐能力的研究还很少。为研究马铃薯中StCBFs是否能提高植物耐盐性,我们选择转StCBF1基因过表达拟南芥(Arabidopsis thaliana)株系StCBF1-2和StCBF1-5与转StCBF4基因过表达拟南芥株系StCBF4-2和StCBF4-3作为实验材料进行相关生理生化指标的测定。结果表明,转基因拟南芥能提高盐胁迫下拟南芥中四种主要抗氧化酶超氧化物歧化酶(SOD)、过氧化物酶(POD)、过氧化氢酶(CAT)和抗坏血酸过氧化物酶(APX)活性,降低超氧阴离子含量以缓解植物体内的氧化胁迫。同时通过荧光定量PCR分析发现,转基因拟南芥的COR基因以及Na^+/H^+逆向转运蛋白相关基因的表达量要高于野生型拟南芥,这也可能是其耐盐性强的原因之一。

In this paper,we investigate the minimization of age of information(AoI),a metric that measures the information freshness,at the network edge with unreliable wireless ***,we consider a set of users transmitting status updates,which are collected by the user randomly over time,to an edge server through unreliable orthogonal *** begs a natural question:with random status update arrivals and obscure channel conditions,can we devise an intelligent scheduling policy that matches the users and channels to stabilize the queues of all users while minimizing the average AoI?To give an adequate answer,we define a bipartite graph and formulate a dynamic edge activation problem with stability ***,we propose an online matching while learning algorithm(MatL)and discuss its implementation for wireless ***,simulation results demonstrate that the MatL is reliable to learn the channel states and manage the users’buffers for fresher information at the edge.
