Kaiyuqingre formula improves insulin secretion via regulating uncoupling protein-2 and KATPchannel

Background Type 2 diabetes mellitus （T2DM） results from the complex association of insulin resistance and pancreatic β-cell failure. Recent studies have shown that patients diagnosed with T2DM present with a significant decrease in β-cell function, which can be further compromised during the progression of the disease. Several mechanisms have been shown to play a role in this process such as glucotoxicity and lipotoxicity, which contribute to accelerating insulin secretion. In this regard, Chinese medicine has a certain advantage. This experiment was performed to observe the effect of a Chinese medicine named Kaiyuqingre formula （KYQRF） on β-cell function and its mechanisms of action therein. Methods High glucose was used to set up a model of β-cell function failure. At the same time, medicated serum of KYQRF with different doses were administered to the cells. Rosiglitazone was taken as a control to observe the changes in insulin secretion, ATP-sensitive K＋ channels （KATP channel） and uncoupling protein-2 （UCP-2） in each group. Results KYQRF had some effects on the insulin secretion. In a low glucose environment, no effective change in insulin secretion was observed （P 〉0.05）. However, insulin levels increased significantly when INS-1 cells were exposed to a high glucose environment （P 〈0.05）. KYQRF could also enhance cell viability （P 〈0.05） in an effect similar to rosiglitazone. Although KYQRF had no effect on inwardly rectifying potassium channels （Kir6.2）（P 〉0.05）, it could decrease the overexpression of both UCP-2 and sulfonylurea receptor 1 （P〈0.05）. Conclusion KYQRF can protect islet function by decreasing UCP-2 and sulfonylurea receptor 1.

BACKGROUND:To promote the shared decision-making(SDM)between patients and doctors in pediatric outpatient departments,this study was designed to validate artificial intelligence(AI)-initiated medical tests for children with ***:We designed an AI model,named xiaoyi,to suggest necessary tests for a febrile child before visiting a pediatric outpatient *** calculated the sensitivity,specificity,and F1 score to evaluate the efficacy of xiaoyi’s *** patients were divided into the rejection and acceptance *** we analyzed the rejected examination items in order to obtain the corresponding ***:We recruited a total of 11,867 children with fever who had used xiaoyi in outpatient *** recommended examinations given by xiaoyi for 10,636(89.6%)patients were *** average F1 score reached 0.94.A total of 58.4%of the patients accepted xiaoyi’s suggestions(acceptance group),and 41.6%refused(rejection group).Imaging examinations were rejected by most patients(46.7%).The tests being time-consuming were rejected by 2,133 patients(43.2%),including rejecting pathogen studies in 1,347 patients(68.5%)and image studies in 732 patients(31.8%).The difficulty of sampling was the main reason for rejecting routine tests(41.9%).CONCLUSION:Our model has high accuracy and acceptability in recommending medical tests to febrile pediatric patients,and is worth promoting in facilitating SDM.

The diagnosis and treatment of fever of unknown origin (FUO) are huge challenges to *** the etiologies of FUO into infectious and non-infectious disease is conducive to clinical physicians not only on making decisions rapidly concerning the prescription of suitable antibiotics but also on further analysis of the final *** order to develop and validate a diagnostic tool to efficiently distinguish the etiologies of adult FUO patients as infectious or non-infectious disease,FUO patients from the departments of infectious disease and internal medicine in three Chinese tertiary hospitals were enrolled retrospectively and *** using polynomial logistic regression analysis,the diagnostic formula and the associated scoring system were *** variables included in this diagnostic formula were from clinical evaluations and common laboratory *** proposed tool could discriminate infectious and noninfectious causes of FUO with an area under receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) of 0.83,sensitivity of 0.80 and specificity of *** diagnosis tool could predict the infectious and non-infectious causes of FUO in the validation cohort with an AUC of 0.79,sensitivity of 0.79 and specificity of *** results suggested that this diagnostic tool could be a reliable tool to discriminate between infectious and non-infectious causes of FUO.

The South Galactic Cap u-band Sky Survey （SCUSS） was established in 2009 in order to provide a photometric input catalog for target selection of the Large Sky Area Multi-Object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope （LAMOST） project. SCUSS is an international cooperative project between National Astronomical Observatories, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Steward Observatory at the University of Arizona, using the 90 inch （2.3 m） Bok telescope on Kitt Peak. The telescope is equipped with a prime focus camera that is composed of a mosaic of four 4096 × 4096 CCDs and has a field of view of about 1 deg2. From 2009 to 2013, SCUSS performed a sky survey of an approximately 5000 deg2 field of the South Galactic Cap in u band, including the Galactic anticenter area and the SDSS-IV extended imaging area. The limiting magnitude of SCUSS is deeper than 23 mag （at a signal-to-noise ratio of 5）. In this paper, we briefly describe the goals of this project, method of observations and data reduction, and we also introduce current and potential scientific activities related to the SCUSS project.

Objective Coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)and tuberculosis(TB)are major public health and social issues *** long-term follow-up of COVID-19 with pulmonary TB(PTB)survivors after discharge is *** study aimed to comprehensively describe clinical outcomes,including sequela and recurrence at 3,12,and 24 months after discharge,among COVID-19 with PTB *** From January 22,2020 to May 6,2022,with a follow-up by August 26,2022,a prospective,multicenter follow-up study was conducted on COVID-19 with PTB survivors after discharge in 13 hospitals from four provinces in *** outcomes,including sequela,recurrence of COVID-19,and PTB survivors,were collected via telephone and face-to-face interviews at 3,12,and 24 months after *** Thirty-two COVID-19 with PTB survivors were *** median age was 52(45,59)years,and 23(71.9%)were *** them,nearly two-thirds(62.5%)of the survivors were moderate,three(9.4%)were severe,and more than half(59.4%)had at least one comorbidity(PTB excluded).The proportion of COVID-19 survivors with at least one sequela symptom decreased from 40.6%at 3 months to 15.8%at 24 months,with anxiety having a higher proportion over a *** and amnesia recovered at the 12-month follow-up,while anxiety,fatigue,and trouble sleeping remained after ***,one(3.1%)case presented two recurrences of PTB and no re-positive COVID-19during the follow-up *** The proportion of long symptoms in COVID-19 with PTB survivors decreased over time,while nearly one in six still experience persistent symptoms with a higher proportion of *** recurrence of PTB and the psychological support of COVID-19 with PTB after discharge require more attention.

Autoantibodies in Chinese patients with chronic hepatitis B:Prevalence and clinical associations

目的验证开郁清热方改善胰岛功能的临床疗效。方法选取仝小林教授于广安门医院门诊诊治的2型糖尿病病历116例,所有患者辨证均属于肝郁胃热证,给予中药开郁清热方治疗,于治疗前、治疗后3个月、6个月、1年1、年半2、年分别记录其空腹血糖(FPG)、餐后2 h血糖(2 hPG)、胰岛素等检查指标,并根据公式计算患者胰岛功能指数(HOMA-β),运用统计软件SPSS16.0对数据进行分析。结果治疗后各组空腹血糖、餐后2 h血糖均较治疗前有明显下降(P0.05);HOMA-β均有一定程度的下降,但治疗前、治疗后比较,差异无统计学意义(P>0.05)。结论开郁清热方具有一定的胰岛功能保护作用。
