Statins inhibit 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-CoA reductase,the rate-limiting enzyme of the mevalonate pathway,and are widely used as an effective and safe approach handle *** mevalonate pathway is a vital metabolic pathway that uses acetyl-CoA to generate isoprenoids and sterols that are crucial to tumor growth and *** studies have indicated that statins improve patient prognosis in various *** research on the mechanisms underlying the antitumor effects of statins is *** development of new anti-cancer drugs is progressing,but increasing medical costs from drug development have become a major *** available,inexpensive and well-tolerated drugs like statins have not yet been successfully repurposed for cancer *** the cancer patients that may benefit from statins is key to improved patient *** review summarizes recent advances in statin research in cancer and suggests important considerations for the clinical use of statins to improve outcomes for cancer patients.

Study of hydraulic structures such as groins and bandal-like structures can provide valuable information on their influences on morphological processes in natural *** structures usually used for bank protection and formation of deep navigation channel can locally create complex flow patterns,reduce flow velocities and also increase the flood *** of the previous studies are focused on structures like groins under non-submerged flow ***,the recent demand of nature friendly low cost and sustainable methods for river bank protection and channel formation leads to the necessity of study different type of structures like bandal-like *** this context, this study investigates the flow characteristics and sediment transport process influenced by bandal-like structures through laboratory *** experiments were carried out under live-bed scour condition with sediment supplied from the inlet for two submergence(non-submerged and submerged)*** experimental measurements contribute to better understand the mechanism of deposition/erosion process around different type of hydraulic *** performance of bandal-like structures considering the erosion around the structures,the deposition near the bank and the formation of deep main channel show promising results compared with conventional structures such as groins(impermeable and permeable ones).

This study discusses the trading behavior of foreign investors with respect to economic uncertainty in the South Korean stock market from a time-varying *** employ a news-based measure of economic uncertainty along with the model of time-varying parameter vector autoregression with stochastic *** empirical analysis reveals several new findings about foreign investors’trading ***,we find evidence that positive feedback trading often appears during periods of high economic uncertainty,whereas negative feedback trading is exclusively observable during periods of low economic ***,the foreign investors’feedback trading appears mostly to be well-timed and often leads the time-varying economic uncertainty except in periods of global ***,lagged negative(positive)response of net flows to economic uncertainty is found to be coupled with lagged positive(negative)feedback ***,the study documents an asymmetric response of foreign investors with regard to negative and positive shocks of economic ***,we find that they instantly turn to positive feedback trading after a negative contemporaneous response of net flows to shocks of economic *** contrast,they move slowly toward negative feedback trading after a positive response of net flows to uncertainty shocks.

In this paper we prove a result which not only provides a refinement of the above inequality but also gives a result of Aziz and Dawood [J. Approx. Theory, 54 （1988）, 306-313] as a special case.

Optical near-field excitations were investigated on the basis of molecular alignment control of liquid crystals (LCs) on an optically rewritable nanostructure of photoreactive molecular thin films. Twisted nematic (TN) cells of LC molecules were constructed utilizing ITO substrates with 260 nm gratings of an azobenzene molecular thin film, fabricated using standing evanescent waves. The polarization changes of light transmitted through the TN cells, which were due to the alignment changes of LC molecules locally rubbed by the azobenzene nanogratings, were observed. Furthermore, we demonstrated local plasmon excitation of Au nanowires deposited on the azobenzene nanogratings using oblique vacuum evaporation, a phenomenon that produced strong anti-optical absorption spectra. The modulation of the local plasmon resonance in metallic nanowires decorated with LC molecules was confirmed.

Operator movement is one of the scholastic views which have been advanced to analyse expressions that contain an operator of some *** this work,attention will be focused on interrogative operator in *** work examines the nature of wh-movement in Fulfulde using the minimalist *** conducting the research,primary and secondary sources of data collection were *** native speaker’s intuition forms the primary source of data while the secondary source involves three competent native speakers of Adamawa Fulfulde to validate the *** outcome of the study reveals four types of wh-movement in *** four types of wh-movement in Fulfulde are the subject preposed from its canonical position in declarative sentences to a new position in interrogative *** are both left to right movement and right to left *** interrogative questions are marked by an optional‘na’at the end of the *** is possible and grammatical to have double interrogatives but only one of the elements can *** movement is determined by proximity,short or long movement of the interrogative marker to either left to right or right to ***,wh-or interrogative element in Fulfulde is represented by-ye and-e suffixes bound to stems of pronouns and some ***-piping and preposition stranding are also *** some whmovement,the question remains in place called wh-in-situ;here,the interrogative marker does not move at *** this happens the interrogative marker occupies the position of the element in *** there is movement,each move element leaves behind a trace marked by‘t’and the trace is co-indexed so that we can see the extraction sites and the landing sites of the elements that have *** direct object preposed to the complementizer position through wh-movement and the subject of the main clause raises and moves into the subject position of the relative clause in order to check the question feature of comp

Thrombocytopenia is a common complication in liver disease and can adversely affect the treatment of liver cirrhosis,limiting the ability to administer therapy and delaying planned surgical/diagnostic procedures because of an increased risk of *** factors,including splenic sequestration,reduced activity of the hematopoietic growth factor thrombopoietin,bone marrow suppression by chronic hepatitis C virus infection and anti-cancer agents,and antiviral treatment with interferon-based therapy,can contribute to the development of thrombocytopenia in cirrhotic *** these factors,the major mechanisms for thrombocytopenia in liver cirrhosis are(1)platelet sequestration in the spleen;and(2)decreased production of thrombopoietin in the *** treatment options,including platelet transfusion,interventional partial splenic embolization,and surgical splenectomy,are now available for severe thrombocytopenia in cirrhotic *** thrombopoietin agonists and targeted agents are alternative tools for noninvasively treating thrombocytopenia due to liver cirrhosis,their ability to improve thrombocytopenia in cirrhotic patients is under investigation in clinical *** this review,we propose a treatment approach to thrombocytopenia according to our novel concept of splenic volume,and we describe the current management of thrombocytopenia due to liver cirrhosis.
